Post some of you favs on tunes thread. Or just go visit and listen to some of the posts there. All kinds of music. I love Otis and if you like Billie Holiday give Dinah Washington a listen. I really show my age with some of my music but I also love today's artist too.

I've been listening to Geoffrey Oreyema. Beautiful.
Geoffrey Oryema (born April 16, 1953) is an internationally renowned Ugandan musician. In 1977, at the age of 24 and at the height of Idi Amin's power, Oryema was smuggled across the Ugandan border in the trunk of a car, after the death of his father, Erinayo Wilson Oryema, who was a cabinet minister, beginning a life in exile. Today his songs keep alive the languages of his youth - Swahili and Acholi and return to the lost country - the 'clear green land' of Uganda. Oryema earned his international reputation following the release of his second album, Beat the Border. He has collaborated with, amongst others, Peter Gabriel. Gabriel's record label, Real World, helped with the first three of Oryema's albums, until his move to Sony International, a label established in France where Oryema resides since his exile. Besides his two native languagues mentioned earlier, he also sings in English and French. On July 2005, he performed at the LIVE 8: Africa Calling concert in Cornwall, and with 1 Giant Leap at the Live 8 Edinburgh concert.

Just popping in... can't get enough Fitz and the Tantrums. Been pairing that up with Mushroom Jazz no.3 and then the Gorrillaz Demon Days, with a finish up of Verve Unmix #1 (Can't get enough Nina Simone). I think my brain is gonna explode...

No one has mentioned my all time favourite singer, so I hope you don't mind if I post one or two of her songs.

I'm liking the new Tony Bennett Duets, a great Canadian band called City and Colour and Sufjan Stevens, among many others.
Has anyone here heard the new/old unreleased Amy Winehouse CD? If so, what do you think?

loving this guy! I'd never heard of him until I saw an ad for his new CD. He was the 2011 winner of America's Got Talent. 36 years old, washing cars for a living, never auditioned for anything. He has an unbelievable voice. I like what I've heard of the Amy Winehouse CD. Another awesome voice. I hate that her life was such a mess

The songs/artist posted here Been introduced to some artists I was unfamiliar with. Of course some of you have sent me off to Music Festivals because you posted something and I just had to see if they were performing close by. GA Peach sent me in search of Cake and I think it was Joey Apple (a hundred pages back) who sent me in search of Fitz and The Tandrums. Thanks folks and keep up the "good" work

I've been playing along to Manu Katche, a session drummer, quite a bit lately, particular his solo jazz albums Playground and Neighborhood.

The Airborne Toxic Event...can't get enough. I love everything I've heard. When I'm at home, I go to a YouTube playlist for them and listen for hours and hours.
I think I've played this one at least 15 times tonight. I'd like to know the story behind it. Much of his writing is very personal.

this thread seemed like an appropriate place for this link. I just came home from a 4-day concert cruise that was rockin' before we left port. someone put together a streaming radio station made up of the music from all our artists. I've been listening today since I got in to the office. enjoy! ;D www.last.fm/listen/event/1854009

I've recently discovered The Idan Raichel Project. Great Stuff!!
Idan Raichel (Hebrew: עידן רייכל, IPA: [ʔiˈdan ˈʁaiχel]; b. September 12, 1977) is an Israeli singer-songwriter and a musician, known for his Idan Raichel Project (Hebrew: הפרוייקט של עידן רייכל), distinctive for its fusion of electronics, traditional Hebrew texts, Middle Eastern and Ethiopian music.
