No vote P.I. nor was it behind closed doors, us new mods were appointed simply because we have issues and are willing to attempt to keep the discourse civil, perhaps next year more than 3 people will be willing to take up the mantle, lay all the bickering BS aside and see to it that everyone stays with in the CoC.What issues are you referring to?? Well willingly coming to this board as a mod is not something any sane individual would really do. ;D

I disagree we have P&M Mods who enjoy the time they spend here and do a dam good job moderating and keeping a discussion on track....Virgil and Molly seem to be excellent at this IMHO.. Why? Because they are not quick at the ban or delete trigger and respect the views of those who they respectfully disagree with..
But then again my opinion about Mods is not worth squat since I have been labeled a Troll...so take it for it's worth absolutely nothing I guess?? But at least consider it..

Wow. No mod elections. Just some czars appointed by the head honcho At least I will not have to worry about my vote not counting, because it didn't count.... and if you read in the other thread, VB, you will see that the lack of election was solely due to the low number of people interested.. verrip, there will be no lunatic mod.. in fact, he'll probably be lucky to still be here by the end of the month. Oh, I know about the lack of "interested" people excuse. Of course, we were pretty much told who would be acceptable to you, in the final decision making process, so........... In fairness, Moonbeam I have to admit, I like the picks. The one's who volunteered for the vote, are all fairminded people, who, I believe, will do an excellent job of moderating. We have a balance from both sides of the political spectrum, without, a too far left or far right view (at least openly admitted to) perspective, and can smell deception at the drop of a hat. Looking forward to having some good ole fashioned political debates in the next year and a half, and then another year and a half, of complaining by the losing side!

I'm glad you like them VB.. however, i wonder what you would have done in my shoes in terms of the selection process.. or 'limiting' such, perhaps would be a better description..
i made the restrictions i did BECAUSE i wanted people who i felt would be level headed and fair.. there are an awful lot of people i like here, but who probably wouldn't make good mods because i see how they are as posters. i can even apply that to myself. i'm not really cut out for it, per se. but i try the best i can. i realize that no one is perfect, but if common sense is shown overall, that's the type of person i want.

I would not have selected a close or personal friend as a Mod because that might be seen as favoritism and might be a problem down the line if you have to over rule your bud for some reason ...
Anyone I am not in your shoes so it is easy for me to say but something that I think might be an issue..
I think both Molly and P._I. will do very well and don't know much about your other new selections...but who cares what I think?? Right??

PI, i have news for you.. i HAVE no "close and personal" friends from this board. you may think i do, but that's simply the fact that some of these people have been on various other boards with me. yes, there are a number i talk to on facebook but i still don't consider them to be "close and personal" friends. merely good acquaintances.. i also don't discuss my modding stuff with them.
i trust no one .. and let no one inside. that's a fact, jack.

Ok we shall see how it goes Ma'am And as you know you can trust me to be up front and honest with you....I believe in being candid and telling it like it is or as I think it is which I believe I am allowed to do here, I think??

I just know none of the new mods will badger or bait or throw sneaky little insults or get personal or permaban enemies inavertently or go on various power trip closing threads and compiling threads that share one word in common. That stuff's in the past, right?
It should be out in the open that there was some personal animus at play in the past and hopefully that is in the past.
There are liberals and conservatives here and in the United States in general. There is a heated conversation going on about politics here and in the United States in general.
Hopefully that conversation can occur here under more fair conditions than those that prevail in the main stream media for example? More fair than those conditions that prevail when union thugs come around to bully people into silence? More fair conditions than prevail when a president appoints czars to undermine freedom of expression?
The forum imitates life and I suppose it's foolish to think COC's will keep things fair. But we can always hope and soldier on.

What would I have done in your shoes? I would have held a vote, simply to see, how the board would actually vote, so "I" (or in this case, you) could see the actual make up of the board, and how honest or dishonest your members are in their political leanings. Maybe announced that the lowest member in vote totals would be eliminated, or, at least would be considered by the other mods for a final decision, as you originally stated. Just my thoughts....... Oh, And I do not think I congratulated the new Mods! Good luck, and keep the Pepto Bismol handy.

...fwiw, I'm glad to see 6 mods for P&tM... I've always thought this forum needed the most, and would've liked to see at least 4-6 more "deputized" in some way... just too much flurry of activity for only a few sheriffs to patrol... neighborhood watch and your friendly Barney Fifes are the way to go, imo... granted, we do have a "report to mod" button... so I guess we've always been empowered to do a little self-policing, huh?

well i see that there are several of you - PI, marsha, krickitt- that are insisting on throwing out the little snarkisms about former and now current mods ... and thereby perpetuating all of this supposed 'past history'.. i would suggest that if you want the past to actually BE in the past, you quit bringing it up! What would I have done in your shoes? I would have held a vote, simply to see, how the board would actually vote, so "I" (or in this case, you) could see the actual make up of the board, and how honest or dishonest your members are in their political leanings.
how would i know? i can't tell one from another.. sorry. that's the way it is when you hate politics.
Maybe announced that the lowest member in vote totals would be eliminated, or, at least would be considered by the other mods for a final decision, as you originally stated.
how is that supposed to work when i needed all of them? i had no 'wiggle room' this time..

Just IMHO. ;D

OK with me Moonbeam because being in the past is sometimes being on the dark side and does no good.....so onward and forward with the P&M Board and I look to seeing more meaningful discussions about Politics and the Markets..and avoid all the snarkisms, innuendos and veiled personal insults. I am really tired of it
Plus the fact you are supposed to be nice to us Ole Dads on our day.....try it you might like it..

As some of you know, I was in this forum some 6-7 years back, when it was part of Your Money. there was one basic rule in this forum them. Be patriotic, say nothing negative about the POTUS. Some folks were really vocal about this, and the policy was strictly enforced as well.
Is that rule still in effect?

I like that.
It was not actually MSN policy then. It was a small clique of conservatives who made it so.
