zippy, if you are doing the same, just STAY ON TRACK! YOU HAVE TO KEEP GOING! Nothing else matters but that. Little sacrifice here and there, will bring freedom soon! This is easy stuff! It really is. I never though it would be this easy. Before I got on a budget (a good, smart and realistic budget) I NEVER had any money. I would make minimum payments on my cards and still didn't have any money. To think that my minimum payments were like 320 a month and I somehow managed not to have any money is amazing. How could I "find" $1200 to put towards cards all of the sudden. BUDGET! Right there in front on me. I look at it everyday.
Keep working on it. You will get there! Just keep your eyes on a prize! Keep thinking, how good you will sleep at night when you don't have any credit card debt and money saved up in a bank in case something happens. Can you imagine that?

indebt - I definitely feel your pain with outrageous CC debt. I've been through it twice now. Once was all me, in my younger days, being naive with money. The 2nd time (currently) is that my wife is about the same age I was the first time I got into CC debt. We are definitely digging ourselves out of this mess that we got ourselves into again.
At this point...I'm looking forward to June 23rd. That's the day the Discover CC gets paid off and I'm done with it for good.
Keep up the good work indebt. You're doing a good thing for yourself.

A bit late to the game, but I wanted to give you a huge CONGRATULATIONS on your latest payoff! I can't wait to see you get under 10K!!! It should be next month!!! ETA: I remember a post where you said you were giving everything up for a year, including playing golf, which you really love. I would like to suggest you hold back 100 or even 200 from your next one or two monthly payments to treat yourself to a game or two of golf as a "reward" for getting into four digits. (I don't play golf, so I don't know how much it costs.) I'm guessing you'll say "paying off debt is its own reward" but everybody tends to go out more in the summer when the weather is fine, so please consider keeping back an extra 100 or 200 in "fun" and / or "reward" money for the next month or two. September will be here soon enough, and you can hunker down again then.

I agree with debtheaven! Little rewards can help you stay on track. Once in awhile, I will reward myself with a little something, like a bagel & cream cheese from Panera!! (No, I've never had the "latte factor").

Thanks everyone! It will feel really good next month to be in 4 digits range. WOW, from almost 17 grand to 9 grand.. lol My debt payoff friend showed up last night and we had some drinks outside at my place. We talked money and how awesome it will be next year to have only living expenses and a mortgage. He is doing what I am doing. We both have a same payoff date. We talked about how crazy it will be next year when you don't have to worry about credit cards and you can finally start saving money for a nice EF. He didn't use credit card this year at all, which is huge. We talked how easy this is, the budget and paying all the bills because now we know where our money is going. Good stuff..
