Really? Some really think this is intrusion by the Fed? How many times has the food pyramid changed over the last several decades? Good god people get a grip!

We do when the First Lady of the United States helps unveil it. Doesn't she have better things to do, like work out with her personal trainer? Right. She should stick to beautification projects with flowers and such. Cripes people get their undies in a bundle about the weirdest stuff.

Iggy, I don't usually get into political stuff with you, but I have to here....
how is this supposed intrusion into our private lives any different than the Republican one against same-sex marriage? at least the food pyramid/plate/whatever is just a guideline, not a law.

The food pyramid has changed over the year however; the eating habits of Americans have only changed for the worse. We are still a country full of lard asses.

I am a very fit "overweight" person. My resting heart rate is 72. BP is 120/70. I can run 6 miles at a crack- which I do three days a week. I weight train the other three days. I just like to EAT.

Amen, brother! ...fwiw, Covert Bailey used his "walrus" example often to illustrate fitness and fatness... he also pointed out that usually men are the ones to eat like pigs after working like dogs... women typically would avoid that practice... but that wasn't "to judge" the phenomenon...

This thread winz the OH NOEZ!!1! award of the day so far.
it's just a suggestive model, that's all. or do you have that link where somehow the First Lady somehow got Legislative or Executive Power to make people eat 4 servings of vegetables a day?
What a horrible thing to do! Suggesting people eat healthy and re-doing outdated models! Oh and let's not forget how CONtradictory conservatives are on this matter. In one thread Michelle's a horrible person for suggesting people eat healthy, and in another thread, people on welfare better not be eating junk food or fat people should pay more for health coverage or be denied government benefits. Can you guys meet somewhere and have a better plan than "whine about everything, even if there's apparent contradictions"?
Note to Conservatives: tin foil may be good for cooking, but it's not so good as a hat.
Don't you have anything better to do? Or is hypocritically dictating how adults should be spending their lives your first priority? Fascist much?
And as a reminder for the nth time: she's the First Lady, who really cares?

I care Ma'am and let my boss at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto CA know that I would like to submit my name on the list of greeters if and when our First Lady pays us a visit out here to checkout the new Fisher House on our hospital grounds..
My grand kids like the first lady and I told them I wanted to see them abide by her suggestions for proper eating habits and lots of excercise.

She is the spouse of the President of the United States, and an attorney in her own right. They are both friends of the radicals her husband has appointed as "czars", so I worry about what she thinks. You'd have to be a fool not to- especially if you're a married person. Everyone knows the men where the pants, but the women tell them which ones...

IG, I haven't seen any of this. (There are benefits to no TV!) I feel so left out. Maybe I can come to your house and be that Dem in your private life. I can draw pictures of plates and silverware. It will be fun.

Chive, and you know (or you will now I have a problem with the 'Pubs being involved in our marriage decisions, and abortion for that matter. so you have some sense, at least. you do realize that this is just a recommended guideline to follow, right? and that it's been around in many forms for years...

vote them all out of office! we need term limits today, if we want a county tomorrow.
career politicians are the common denominator of all of our country's issues. trace any issue that we have threads about here, and look at it from a view of........ 'would this have happened if the lawmaker making these laws, made that law knowing he/she would have to be living with those laws, in 4 years or less?

So does the salad fork go inside or out side of the crab fork?
Also is it polite manners to use your soup spoon to play dueling banjos?

I think this should be the case for most things the Federal government does, guidelines. Even for things like 'safety', if a private citizen wants to buy something that hasn't passed government inspection they should be free to do so, with the understanding of the possible additional risk.

I can't believe that this is the first time in the history of this country that a first lady has had a platform. It's so strange and new.

So does the salad fork go inside or out side of the crab fork? hmm....I don't know that one. I've never needed to worry about one of those, I can't eat 'em anyway. Iggy, you're on your own with the proper table setting. booze, though, that's another story. I can totally help out with that!

Also is it polite manners to use your soup spoon to play dueling banjos? It may not be good manners but it's a health benefit. The longer you use it to play dueling banjos, the less time it's being used to shovel ice cream down your gullet.

They just sit there and give tours of the White House and plan dinner parties, ya know. ;D
