< Did you every watch the pitchmen show? > No, you can remove my wisdom teeth again before I would do that. There are people doing similar jobs at the local Costco and they even sound like them

it was something in the oathkeepers thread. I posted early, then had to step out for a bit. it was close to 6 pages of sniping by the time I got back and caught up. wonder what happened after I signed off last night. going over there now to check it out. yikes.... edit: scratch that, the thread's gone. it must have gotten a lot worse.

I guess that I saw the thread after everything had gone down. I didn't realize it & tried to post. I can't remember what the message that appeared said but I thought that I had been suspended for something. It took me a while to figure out.
I can see someone stepping over the line in the heat of the moment but that's not usually the case. Usually is a sore point between a couple of posters that just keeps coming up.
I can't understand why they don't see how that makes them look or for that matter their purpose here. Anything valid that they have to say is lost in the childish chatter & as grown ups they should know that.
I think moonbeam did exactly the right thing is shutting down the board. I doubt that the MODS on MSN could have done that but it did show that this site is not going to put up with it. Who knows it might even cut down some of the childish arguments that ALWAYS come afterward.

Who knows it might even cut down some of the childish arguments that ALWAYS come afterward. I did not see the thread. I tried to enjoy the Holiday weekend. I did. I cannot fathom how it got that bad. We were told in the beginning, there would not be as stringent a standard on this forum as there was at MSN. I assume that was a mistake on the part of Moonbeam. I would of assumed she knew how politics worked on the board. "You are either, with me, or against me." Not too much middle ground. There are only one or two of us that would fit that description. I am not sure if I do myself, although I am Republican, conservative, I am also pretty much "middle of the road". Call me a compassionate conservative........ I have to say, the moderators must have been offline, or derelict in their duties. It should not have come to a total shutdown, imo, but since I was not here, I might be totally offbase, and an apology might be in order, if I am.

Value Buy, there ISN'T as stringent a standard here, but that doesn't mean that people can now expect to start with the "FU!" .. "NO f YOU!!" mentality as was displayed yesterday. The CoC plainly states that personal attacks will not be tolerated. that line was crossed several times yesterday, and truthfully, more than one person deserved to be banned. The 24 hr shut down is my way of bringing home the point that i will not stand for that juvenile behavior. you have all been heartily invited to go to nobobs if you want to act like 2 yr olds. that's what it's there for.
personally, i don't care if there is a politics board here or not, because all it spawns is a bunch of stupid reports to mods because this person doesn't agree with that person. of course there are going to be differences of opinion but everyone needs to put their big girl/boy panties on and stick to the topical debate and quit with the rest of the crap.

Tina, the problem on P&M is that they are starting out the new year with too much leftover tinfoil. Instead of putting away the shiny stuff that was wrapped around the tree, they've wrapped it around their heads, and walla!

Nanc, maybe if we sneak in tonight and steal the tinfoil we can solve the issue...or else, we just start dumping some Unisom in their water...

Unisom, Tylenol PM, Nyquil...whatever it takes, I'll buy. What a buncha soreheads. They are never going to agree, and it's always a matter of who can outshout the others and use more foul language, etc.
Now over here, things are different. When we agree to disagree, we do it in a civilized manner. We post photos of large people in pink thongs for a laugh and then raid Tina's liquor cabinet.

I have to say, the moderators must have been offline, or derelict in their duties. It should not have come to a total shutdown,
I thought the total shutdown was a PERFECT solution. On the old boards the normal solution was to lock the thread (& maybe ban 1 or 2) & then everybody else was free to go to or start other threads to complain, whine, & bitch (& they always did). Because of that the MODS power was eroded over time & they were always 2nd guessed. Well here it seems like moonbeam is saying, HEY your an adult & if you can't play like an adult then you don't get to play (end of story). As far as I can see the only better solution to shutting down the boards would have been for moonbeam to go to the children's houses & slap them around a little (or a lot) & tell them to play nice or she will come back MAD.
One last thing. If you didn't run to be a MOD then shut up. It's a long thankless job that (I'm sure) is a huge pain in the ass a lot of times & they don't need you to try to 2nd guess them (especially when you just diddly bop in here every now & then & don't know the whole story the way they do). I wouldn't take that job for less than $100 per hour & I probably wouldn't last a week. Just my thoughts.

I think too many people are willing to want people banned they do not agree with. To me that would be a boring place where every one agreed on everything. I do not know for sure why but it is mooonbeams board so I have no problem with her locking anything down . My problem is I keep seeing people throw out banning esp for those they disagree with or who they do not like. I believe there are good reasons to ban like porn or offensive material like that. But even when i have been in a heated coversation evern a fight I never wanted anyone banned for just not agreeing me. Well those are my thoughts..I think what moonbeam did by setting this up for those losing their board was awsome. I can not even imagine the work that went it to it..

hi dmsm.. been a long time since i've talked with you..
i agree that banning should not be for mere differences of opinion. i also believe that you can disagree and still be respectful of that other person. agree to disagree, you know?

The smite button? P&M ruined it because posters there acted like children with it, and then got upset that they were being smited and complained about the meany heads who were smiting them. That's why it's gone.

That's why it's gone. Ok but can't you also say the same thing abou the "exalt" button on the EE Board?? To say that is childess would give "childess" a bad name .. but then again that is coming from somone with only 3 exalts... one by my wife, one by my daughter and one by a lady who had me confused with somebody else..... My mother in law is still trying to find the "smite" key but God knows why I haven't told any Mother in Law jokes in the past two days..
