My last name is very obviously French, however, I'm half Irish, so I could very well go back to Ireland to celebrate my Irish roots. Since Obama's mother is white, he very well could be Irish. I'm thinking the whole to-do about this is just silly. He is definitely of Irish descent, swamp. It's just the political posturing at tax payer expense that gets to some people. Including me.

Did you get as annoyed with GWB when he stood on an aircraft carrier wearing a flight suit in front of a huge banner that said "Mission Accomplished"? Unfortunately, a big part of being president is campaigning, and Obama, as well as GWB, and Clinton, and Bush I, spend precious time and finances wooing voters while they're in office. I don't like it, I think it's stupid, but you gotta do what you gotta do?

At this horrible time in the economy he looks real bad, IMO. Shouldn't he be in Joplin or something?

I never get the impression that Obama can drum up the necessary sincere emotion to engender these things. Maybe its just me. Do you get the feeling he feels separate from the general population? I don't mean just the white population either. He doesn't seem connected with the black population either. He just seems to be distant from ordinary people. I think that's part of the discomfort so many Americans feel toward him.

The disconnect must be his childhood. He's just odd. I'm pretty liberal about people's lifestyles, but there is something to be said for having an average type person in the WH. "Different" doesn't necessarily mean better, just different. That's why I DO look at backgrounds as well as policy when I look at politicians.

Hypocrite much? You laid the first card. Deal with it.
So says the rightwing LimBecktarian. I heard Obama dropped his toothbrush yesterday, why don't you make a thread obsessing about it and you and your Borg buddies can circle jerk over it. I mean isn't the most importantest thing in the universe is Obama saying whether he's Irish or not?
That was your point? I won't say it was pointless (Um, the media covers things important people do, duh!), but you're so close, you could check its pulse or, in this case, lack of one. I'll just file this with the dozens of other O NOEZ!!!! threads Conservatives have been churning out.
Right, because the STATE run media called Obama up on the Presidential hotline and told him, "Obama go to Ireland and tell them how Irish you are. That'll race-bait those Conservatives! Muh-ha-ha!" You're putting the cart before the horse(crap). But you'll twist anything 180 degrees to make it fit your worldview. Also, your taking the non-existent bait speaks volumes.
I bet you're just chomping off the bit for that to happen; that way, you all can point out what a Muslim he is and such. What's wrong? Do you have to beg to get ammunition to use against him? I feel bad for you, we sure didn't have to stoop that low when Bush was President.
My apologies, there was so much fail, I didn't mention that black is a race and Irish is a nationality. And you really think the press is going the whole nine yards to convince everyone Obama is Irish?
And obsessively hating him is such a better alternative.
Why don't you prove it?
With self-declared victories, the only ass you kick is your own. And why don't you tell us all about the monumental victory that is the Ryan plan? You know, the one that Harry Reid is forcing through the Senate? Yeah, that Ryan Plan. And do you have any other Republican victories you'd like to share?
Sorry, if you walk and talk like a Fox viewer, I guess you are one. Just ask Marsha.
Obsession over a "NO ONE!" duly noted.

It's not just you. I think he's faking empathy on the few occasions he actually tries to show it. More often, I get the feeling he's thinking that people are getting what they deserve...

Did you really miss the point of this thread that the entire lamestream media blurted out near simultaneously the same speech about Obama's Irish roots? This isn't an Obama thing, this is a media thing. This is what they do with every freaking story & it isn't just one side or the other, this is how the entire media functions & it isn't new to this administration. Someone comes up with a clever saying or interesting spin & within 1/2 hour the same phrasing will show up on every single network. Or did you just figure this out now?

True, this goes on with every Democrat administration of the last 30 years. When you have "journalists" who cross over as speechwriters, advisors and cabinet members for Democratic administrations while still maintaining their jobs as supposedly "objective" observers, the lines cannot be contained...

It's a Democrat / liberal thing. Been going on since before Walter Kronkite declared the Vietnam War lost-- you know, after the failed Tet offensive after which the general that ran the war for the Viet Cong said they were two weeks away from basically surrendering-- coming to the table for talks. Thanks liberals! But I digress... The press is in the tank for liberals- and especially Obama. They vote 92% Democrat.
