has anybody mentioned the idiots that poke along thru the school district when SCHOOL IS OUT! Yes, I know the sign is flashing, but did the absence of school buses, children, cars at the school not clue you in???
or maybe the school's sign that says "HAPPY HOLIDAYS! STUDENTS RETURN JANUARY 5"

Yeah, I was going to echo Rick. Speeding through a school zone is a very expensive ticket here and the speed sign does not say anything about school hours, only that's it's in effect when the light is flashing OR kids or present.

You could argue entrapment if he pulled you over :-)
For the heck of it, I looked up WA state's laws for school zone speed limits. Nothing about them applying only when school is in session.
(1) Subject to RCW 46.61.400(1), and except in those instances where a lower maximum lawful speed is provided by this chapter or otherwise, it shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to operate the same at a speed in excess of twenty miles per hour when operating any vehicle upon a highway either inside or outside an incorporated city or town when passing any marked school or playground crosswalk when such marked crosswalk is fully posted with standard school speed limit signs or standard playground speed limit signs. The speed zone at the crosswalk shall extend three hundred feet in either direction from the marked crosswalk.
When I lived in BC, I thought the speed limits applied from before dawn to after dusk but there's nothing similar to WA state's regulations.

Oregon made it "at all times" for a while, until enough people pointed out that there was a curfew for minors and how stupid that was (especially when the regular speed limit was 35 mph or more). They finally changed it to "when lights flash" for the signs with lights, and "from 7 am to 5 pm on school days" for signs without lights. Before the change, I saw a cop sitting in the school zone checking speeds on my way to my vanpool--at 5:15 in the morning :S

I'm pretty sure its all the time in MD. They just put speed cameras in the school zones anyway. They are broke they need the money any way they can get it. And we'll punish speeders instead of murderers.

Parking in the travel lanes...you did not know those are the "phone booth" lanes here? And what makes you think someone does not have the right to talk on their cellphone and keep you from actually driving, huh? Ya just expect too much! . We need to have a Florida gathering of the EE minds. We have Cheesey, POM, suz, later (she's a snowbird, but that's OK), and a few others my braincells cannot recall right now. It is LongSam.....not Later!

You may also assume I think you're an idiot if you use the phrase "beg the question" improperly.

"I hate when people are walking on the sidewalk/aisle/in the mall, going really slow, but meandering left and right constantly, making it really difficult to get around them." What about the people who don't move once the escalator ride ends? If you're behind them you have no option other than to run into them!

Drivers in Florida are a different breed...last week at that Mall Of M in O-town, when we were exiting we were in one of 2 left turn lanes...waiting patiently for our turn (3 light changes) a chick in the lane next to me (the ONLY non-turn lane) turns left in front of me, (apparently she was tired of waiting for her turn) then salutes me with that special salute when I almost clipped her and honked my horn at her...clearly, I did not realize that she was apparently somebody and should be allowed to drive however she wanted, whereever she wanted...so I blew her a kiss and stayed right on her tail until she took the exit to Champions Gate (and she saluted me again) so I blew her another kiss and gave her my best queen wave.

Does anyone else find the carts hawking creams and lotions in the middle of the aisle at the mall as annoying as I do? Before Christmas, I had to explain to a guy that no, thank you, I did not want any lotion for my hands and that his pitch of "I can actually make you look better." needed some work.

When you are NO longer the Speaker of the House of Representatives and you go off on a rant about all of your achievements for @30 minutes in packed chamber from the equal pay act to the health care bill, and then take a few last minute cheap shots at your replacement who was elected Speaker with 241 voice votes.
