get an ablation. Or hysterectomy. Hysterectomies for everyone!!! I agree with this if you are done having kids . I went through years of really heavy bleeding and cramping . I actually had to get 2 emergency blood transfusions because it was so severe . My doctor advised me to wait and just get IUD , but I could not keep going through that another 5 plus years . It was so bad , I couldn’t even leave my house . A couple years ago , I finally had a hysterectomy and I love being done with all that nonsense . Good luck ladies Now unless you have severe issues like these -> I can attest to the fact that it will all go away on its own eventually. No more periods. Not just a silver lining of getting older. It is a gold lining studded with diamonds

I had a total hysterectomy. Best thing ever! And my recovery was pretty easy. And no issues now 10 years later (ovarian cancer. I'm only 50 now).

You guys are convincing me to go thru the pain/hassle of getting another Mirena in the next 5 years and possibly all the way thru to my 50's. I've had 4 periods in the last 8 weeks. Not spotting, full periods. I'm considering getting an IUD at this point. I have a Mirena and haven't had a period in five years. Insertion was horrible but my life has been great since! Getting another one in a few months.

just schedule the hysterectomy now. I actually tried this several years ago. The doctor told me absolutely not. It's my uterus. I should get to decide that I don't want it anymore. Apparently not. Just ask your nonexistent husband for permission to do as you wish with your own body. Then the doctor will comply.

I didn't mean that hysterectomies are always bad, just they can be. Major surgery, and all that, you know. 2 had tons of pain afterward. 1 that had wanted one for years, due to...I forget what it's called, but it caused her a lot of pain...went mental afterwards. My group of friends think it was caused by the changing hormones. Fortunately, she's piecing her life together now, but it involved hitting absolute rock-bottom.

It was replaced in Nov and my dr gave me misoprostol (also xanax and percocet but unfortunately my ride had an emergency so I couldn't take either till I got home). It was infinitely better the second time. Hugely. My spotting has also been close to nonexistent and the random bad cramps I got the first go round basically went away. So first 5 years were 9/10. So far the second is 11/10.

I remember spotting for like six weeks and wondering if I did the right thing, then it all magically stopped. This time I have pain killers left over from my surgery, so that will helps. I'll have to ask my gyno about misoprostol. NSAIDs my ass.

Add me to worst period in my life lately... 3 weeks ago... then i had it again last week but that one was normalish... except it was too soon. That one before though, woosh. I guess I can be glad it waited til 46 to go wonky? But its been wonky almost since that milestone. Nothing like that one though... i'm hoping it doesn't become new norm.

I had the ablation along with a polyp removal at age 40. Outpatient surgery easy recovery. Afterwards I still had periods but were very light cramping and a few drops, just enough to let me know I still had one. It is much less invasive than hysterectomy.
It greatly reduces chances for pregnancy, but not 100%. I had a friend who had a surprise baby at 47.

Thai food is so much better after a hysterectomy! A baby would take an act of God aaaaand he and I don't talk.

C's had a sore throat for half a week. I think he only doesnt have one now is because he doesn't to go in for a strep test. But otherwise he's good.
E woke up puking in the middle of the night. I have been feeling off and thought I was going to lose it trying to clean it up. We keep zofran in the house though which meant we got back to bed relatively quickly without any other incidents and she woke up feeling fine.
This morning I told dh I had given up on him ever "helping" me with house and yard work. So he's getting up to hobble around the house making a show of how sick he is but still willing to "help". Which is the meaningless bs I told him I was sick of. But I suppose he won't sleep at this point either so might as well do something.

We haven't had anyone (besides me with migraines) barf in our house in a long time. So long that we forgot protocol and DD7 woke up sick and barfed her way down the hallway to the bathroom while pausing to call for me. I couldn't find my glasses quickly which pretty much means I can't see and dh woke up and laid there and said I think she needs you. Argh!
Eventually we both got everything cleaned up and put her to bed with us with no further incident. Maybe she just over ate at our party yesterday.
Today while doing laundry we reviewed get to the trashcan or the toilet as fast as you can and then call for help if mom hasn't already heard you.
Also, does anyone else's dh have a complete disrespect for germs?! While I'm thankful dh cleaned up while I attended to her. I got skeeved out watching him do it. There was no actual cleaner involved, just whatever towel he found that he kept rinsing off and smearing across the floor. Gross! And not likely to limit any of us from catching it if it's contagious.

Can someone kindly link me to a good wet/dry shaver for dd11 please? I've heard these are good for beginners but don't know which one to buy and they're not super cheap so I don't want to have to buy a second one.

I don't clean vomit, I just end up adding to it so DH will do that. I will take care of the sick kid with medicine and tucking back into bed afterwards.

DH doesn't do puke either. He'll add to it.
He strips bedding and starts laundry while I deal with the kid part. It works pretty well as a system

Blood, injuries, all of that I can deal with, maggots in the bottom of the trash can that sends DH into another room, no problem. For me it is the smell not the visual.

What I missed in this was the answer: you are right, so I will take care of DD while you clean up the puke. While this shouldn't have to be said, never be to shy to do so id needed

Dh was working so he couldn't be faulted for not helping in the immediate situation, and gawd I hope that doesn't happen again. She didn't hit any bedding thankfully and no carpeted areas.
He was faulted for leaving work early "to help" but then realizing that everything was taken care of, not doing anything when he was here. He's great in a crisis, but mundane is too overwhelming.

My youngest girl (she'll be 7 on Sunday) was sobbing again about going to school. She likes all the people just not the "stuff" she has to do at school. She refused to get dressed and I told her if she didn't I would pull off her pajamas and make her get dressed. I am NEVER doing that again. I think I'm going to warn her teacher that she might show up at school one day in her PJ's with clothes in her backpack. I just don't know what to do.

The director Tory couldn't even stop laughing long enough to lecture me.

I texted her teacher and asked for the name of the new guidance counselor and I guess I'll start there. I just don't want her to hate school. I have a cousin that had to be dragged crying to school every day for years. She left as soon as she could at 16. Edit: to clarify I didn't go to school in the US so it's not like my cousin "dropped out". No-one graduates from HS in the UK. You can leave after your 4th, 5th, or 6th year depending on whether or not you want to go to University.

Thanks for the offers to help with my DH, but I think it was more the middle of the night wakeup grogginess that did us both in. It was chaotic LOL. I use disposable razors so I'm no help with the wet/dry shavers. I have a date with K tonight to teach her how to shave though, so I may be looking at them soon too!
