His last high school parade. DS says, "Are you going to keep pointing out every "last" for me this year?!?" (to be fair, he's just as emotional about these things as I am, he just doesn't want to be reminded!)

Anyone have experience with early dental decay? My poor little baby girl needs 4 crowns and she's not even 17 months yet

We did a Silver Diamine Flouride treatment which turns cavities black. She definitely has early decay issues. We can delay the crowns, but she will have black front teeth.

3 days with no one posting, that might be a record. 5 am and I've been up since 2. It's gonna be a long day. Best I can figure is insomnia from hormones?! Anyone else struggle with sleep as they hit 40? I have sleeping pills but they hit my body hard and I need 10 hours to bounce back from even 1/4 of a pill. Pretty much can't take them on a weeknight. Should have taken one fri to try to reset. Not at 40, but in my 50s. I routinely take 2 benadryl at bedtime. Sometimes if I wake up in the middle of the night, and if I have 4 hours to sleep it off, I'll take more in the middle of the night. If you take Tylenol PM or Advil PM (or any of the "PM" pain relievers), just know what you're really taking is that pain reliever plus a full dose of benadryl. I remember wanting to punch a (male) doctor who told me that IF I went without sleep ENOUGH nights, I would eventually get so tired I would sleep better. Totally not true. It takes meds.

That sounds like a dentist who has a balloon payment on his boat coming up. Agreed. I got three other opinions on Gwen's teeth. None of them agreed with boat payment dentist which was a major red flag. Get a second opinion perhaps even a third. Her teeth won't fall out tomorrow. Pediatric dentists are real good at guilting you into parting with your money. A good one should have no problem with you seeking another opinion before agreeing to anything.

FYI - Benadryl/Diphenhydramine exacerbates depressive tendencies in some people.

Is there really a point in putting cwns on teeth that are going to fall out? Hell. I won't even put one on a front tooth that isn't going anywhere. I can't bring myself to have my teeth sanded down so they can squish it on. Maybe when I'm dead.

I won't even put one on a front tooth that isn't going anywhere. I can't bring myself to have my teeth sanded down so they can squish it on. Maybe when I'm dead. This is her four top front teeth. If she loses them too early it'll interfere with diction and eating. Plus she's only one so it'll be at least five years until permanent teeth might make an appearance. Unfortunately she's also getting some bad dental genes from my side. We hang onto baby teeth much longer than average. I had a canine with a cavity pulled when I was 16 thinking the permanent tooth would be in soon anyway. The other teeth moved into its spot first and I had to have the permanent tooth surgically removed. It's been 20 years and $15k and counting to fix that mistake. We will not be fixing them for at least 3 months so I suppose it wouldn't hurt to get another opinion or two before then. I just don't see a better option that won't sacrifice her appearance or comfort. If we can hold out until after open enrollment in November she can be double insured at least.

Oh man, crowns at 17 months. I can't imagine. I'm assuming they put them totally under to do this?!? I definitely would have someone else take a look first.

Yeah she'd need to go under. They won't do it until at least 18 months, and they do xrays then too.

I'm not 40 yet (37), but about once a month, usually the week before my period starts, I have a night where I am awake at 3am and can't fall back asleep for the last year or so. My period has been completely jacked up the last 6 months in particular so I blame it on hormones.

The day after my 40th birthday was the start of AF. Today is the start of AF (2nd after turning 40) and I had monster cramps. I didn’t cramp like this when I had my prior miscarriages. I ended up working from home due to them and had DH drive DD to her art camp this week. Usually I would drive her as I work in her area. I plan to pick her up. At times, I felt like I was million degrees too. I haven’t had cramping like that in years! We’ll see what they are like in the future...

I've been on birth control the last year and while my periods are still unpredictable in terms of when they show up, at least the cramping is way down. Turns out my hormones meant I was having super super heavy bleeding, so I was also becoming anemic. Perimenopause is great!

(As crazy as it sounds, we’d be okay if I did get pregnant and it don’t end in a miscarriage.) I’m feeling MUCH better than I did this morning but it was still a shocker! I haven’t felt like due to AF in about 17-18 years. Usually my first day has some cramping, but not like what it was today.

You guys are convincing me to go thru the pain/hassle of getting another Mirena in the next 5 years and possibly all the way thru to my 50's.

I went on birth control BECAUSE of the cramping.

(I say this as someone who doesn't know a lot about it, but my OBGYN mentioned it to me at my last visit). Today is the last day of summer vacation here! Harper starts kindergarten tomorrow. Chloe has one more year before she starts K4. Wahhhh! When did I get so old?!

My SIL had an ablation, and it was great for a year or two. Then it wasn't. She started getting horrible pain from the scar tissue, I guess, and ultimately got a hysterectomy. I guess hysterectomies can be really rough as well. I know of 3 recent ones (including my SIL), that all had rough recoveries.

I had an ablation 2 years ago. So far, so good.
But I did get aspiration pneumonia afterwards, so there is that.

Looked it up and nope no thank you. Too similar to a LEEP and I still have panic attacks over that fiasco.
Nope. I'll go thru the discomfort of another IUD. I haven't had a period since before I had Gwen.

I actually tried this several years ago. The doctor told me absolutely not. It's my uterus. I should get to decide that I don't want it anymore. Apparently not.

Hell no on the abalation. We quoted making the devices for them and I was reading through the company info on the unit and what it does. No. Just no.
I had the Mirena removed a few years ago when I thought it maybe what was behind my hair falling out. My hair started falling out about 6 months after it was put in and I googled it and there were a lot of people having that issue. After it was removed I never really got my period back. Every now and then I'll get a light one for a day, but it's really sporadic.

I agree with this if you are done having kids . I went through years of really heavy bleeding and cramping . I actually had to get 2 emergency blood transfusions because it was so severe . My doctor advised me to wait and just get IUD , but I could not keep going through that another 5 plus years . It was so bad , I couldn’t even leave my house . A couple years ago , I finally had a hysterectomy and I love being done with all that nonsense . Good luck ladies
