If you've had a modicum of zombie survival training you would know that you NEVER go to a "zombie-free" refuge camp. There's always someone sneaking in an infected loved one, convinced that somehow they won't turn.

This thread got me thinking about a movie I watched on Stars a few months ago, called "The Crazies" Government plane drops substance that causes people to turn into raving lunatics much like the zombies in horror movies.

Indeed, there's a great book called Run, by Blake Crouch, which has a similar theme, though in that story it is a natural phenomenon that turns people into loonies...

I own a company that sells Zombie targets for gun ranges. It's the single most profitable business I've started. It's hilariously funny- all I did was hire some models from Columbia film school in Chicago, had an artist make the targets, found a good printer. The Osama zombie was our most popular. We still have it, but I'm thinking that changes and sales drop off. No matter. We still have the ex-wife zombie, the lawyer zombie, the mother-in-law zombie... Total cost to start the business-- just shy of $3,000. Cost per-- about $.30 we sell 10 packs for $9.99 and sales are running $1,800 to $2,000 a month and we're keeping (net) about $1,200 to $1,400 or so.

Mostly through gun shops in the midwest. We have an internet site-- but it's down right now while we make changes. When it's back up, want the link?

There's a British mini-series called Dead Set, about Z-day happening and the main characters are on the set of Big Brother. It's pretty good!

Umair Haque always writes thought provoking stuff - whether you agree with him or not, it makes interesting reading. He was one of the kindred spirits calling the Crunch a while before it happened, and his recent post on the US response to it is interesting: The real problem isn't stimulus, it's responsiveness. We're trapped in a zombieconomy: one full of brain-dead organizations who are about as intelligently responsive as Homer Simpson. Want better clothes? Don't ask the Gap. Want better software? Don't ask Microsoft. Want better cars? Don't ask Detroit. Want better music? Don't ask record labels. Want better healthcare? Don't ask big pharma. Want to hold on to your money? Don't ask a banker. Welcome to economic Bizarro World. The economy has gone catatonic. Unresponsive corporations are just the tip of the iceberg. Markets can't allocate. Investors won't invest. Banks can't value, or hold onto anything of value. People don't trust, much less consume. What's going on? The real problem isn't how or what we stimulate - but that almost none of our organizations could respond in the first place. www.broadstuff.com/archives/1571-The-Dead-hand-of-Zombienomics.html
