Which clown? Each state has different food stamp eligiblity requirements. Aren't all politicians a clown? I can't say I've met one yet that I was terribly impressed with.

It's all how you interpret it. Taxes are stealing and taxes pay for welfare. Therefore welfare is stealing. Some of it is tolerated however when it's truly needed. This POS obviously doesn't need it and is not only stealing from me, but everyone else especially the people who actually do need welfare. Curious. So, do you intend on refusing Social Security Benefits when you reach retirement age?

That is if they offer it to me in 30-35 years.

Half of his winnings went to taxes... he is just collecting it back in the form of foodstamps

Thanks for 97 and Swamp pointing out Food Stamp eligibility requirements differ from state to state. NJ does include assets in its calculations. The differing laws cause unexpected consequences. I think his card should be revoked in his state and the laws amended so he and others to happen into his current circumstance won't qualify. In my case, even though my only income is a per diem position which so far appears to be on the order of $0-$120 gross/mo I won't qualify until I have only one months living expenses left in savings.

Opt that is why so many here in NJ just cash their check and keep their savings purposly low. They can check what is in your savings/checking account but they don't know what is in your change jar at home. It is a shame that this all comes down to games when someone really needs help and artifical rules for allowing people who clearly don't need them.

I watch MTV's True Life quite a bit and everytime there is something on there about people on gov't aid, it leaves no doubt as to the enourmous amount of fraud dumped into those programs.
1) On one episode, the dad is on camera saying that he'll have to start looking for a job if he doesn't get the extension. Then he goes into a place and offers to work, but only if it's for cash.
2) On another episode, the mom used to have a high paying job, but now is on gov't aide. And still sending her kids to private schools.
3) Another episode, the kid is on disability and uses the money to buy weed so he can self-medicate.
4) Another episode, the mom is on gov't aide and routinely has her son tell her that she needs to look for a job.
Pathetic.

The guy hasn't done anything wrong. I'll bet there are zillions of people abusing the system.

Tortured for using food stamps? Seems a little extreme. How about tortured for stealing! Or do you support what he's doing. If you don't find what he's doing absolutely disgusting....................I really don't know what to say. Other than you must be a Socialist. I agree- but do we hang the user, or the pusher?

So, the foodstamper is simply maximizing his income within the guidelines of a government program. The same thing you plan to do when there are government programs that you qualify for.

Or maybe we don't think execution is an appropriate sentence for minor theft.

Tortured for stealing? Seems a little extreme. Not at all. Cut off his hands. The only suitable punishment for any thief. Are you some crazy bible thumping literalist?

Taxes are stealingUm, no - taxes aren't "stealing". Taxes are legal. Stealing is illegal.... Apparently you are low income and don't pay much for taxes. Oops, no wait. You're just a jerk. Nevermind, I'll stop trying to argue with you because I'm sure I'm low income, too, based on my perspective. LMAOOOOOOO

Very true. How many of us could save enough for retirement that we don't need social security? I know I could. Lots of us could, although it would mean some sacrifices.
How many of us actually will? Few and far between I bet.

I personally have too much pride to accept the stigma that comes with food stamps. I would honestly poach a deer or two before I'd go on food stamps.

You'd let your kid eat rotten wild animals before accepting government assistance. That's sad.

There's a stigma that comes with food stamps? Wish it were so... With how many judgmental food stamp threads we get on this board, I'd have to say yes. I just wish one of you would tell me how to tell the difference between a regular debit card and the EBT cards so I can judge the people buying too much junk food too.

The fat woman at the check out line with six kids a a box of hohos is the one with the EBT card. And driving an upscale SUV? ;D

But how do I know for sure? Is there something different about the card itself? It was so much easier to be a judgmental douche back when I was kid and my mom had to use the physical stamps.

It has the American flag on it, something that should not be desecrated like that.

Of course since he did pay sig portion of his "earnings" in taxes you could say he is just getting some of his money back so therefore he isn't doing anything but re-coping what he paid? Don't worry pretty soon he will have burnt through a mil and then he will be legit broke again and can go back to sucking one Uncle Sam's tit! I don't really care if he gets food stamps, but is he getting other aid to like section-8???
