I can think of any number of things I would like to see or do, but they all cost too much money! I can't think of anything free. If it was free, I've probably already done it.

Not my dream, but previously many posters listed writing a book.

I still want to sail around the world. Have no desire to try and do so faster than anyone else ever has though. I want to take my time and stop at various places to play tourist along the way. It's one of those really unrealistic dreams, especially since I've never even been sailing, but I still want to do it.

There is no such thing as to much money when something is a priority. Almost all my elderly patients have made some type of comment about "Golden Years, that's a bunch of BS!" After a conversation about that with most of them, I've taken to heart their advice. I try and live my life to the fullest today and not plan on their being a tomorrow. That's not to say I've given up on saving for retirement. I still save and plan. However after the saving is done for the month, it's time to spend some cash and live my life.

I have a loosely forming bucket list that I am currently working through. I plan for tomorrow, but I live today. Tomorrow isn't promised.
The short version: Attend the other 3 Grand Slam Tennis Tournaments; I've attended the US Open. See all 50 states; I've seen 33; 3 are planned for next month. See 6 of the 7 continents; Australia is left; Antarctica is not currently on my list; that could change. Take a Caribbean vacation by myself. Try something new every so often. Saturday, I had a Body Wrap. It was okay. I prefer massages, facials and pedicures. Retire healthy and relatively young. Be fabulous at 80.

I seemed to be the only one I know without one so I created one. It isn't anything exciting like bungee jumping or driving a race car or seeing the Great Wall of China. I think I am just not enthused about much nowadays like I have been in the past. Hormones maybe?

When it became trendy, I sat down to to a bucket list, until I realized I had done most of the things I always wanted to do. As I matured, I crossed some off the list.

I'd like to see the countryside of Italy. Drug me up enough to fly and I'll be there.
Does anyone know if passenger ships still sail to Europe? Hmm that's a choice if they do.

FPITB, passenger ships do sail to Europe but they can be quite expensive (Think the Queen Mary) but I have googled freight ships that do take a limited number of passengers. Entertainment is limited and you will probably be eating the same food as the crew but it actually sounds kind of nice. You have to be flexible on the scheduling of your trip, too.

The closest I come to this is a country list. There's a club called the Travelers Century Club that you can join if you've visited 100 countries. They define "country" very loosely; England, Scotland and Ireland count separately. So do the Balearic Islands, which are actually part of Spain, so our day trip to Majorca last week added another one. I'm at 26!

I travelled to Asia as a child on a freighter. The staterooms were larger and nicer than the cheapest staterooms on a passenger liner (that I returned on). The schedule was erratic (I remember some adults complaining about that). I'd travel by freighter nowdays since I have the time, but DH isn't interested.
I've never called it a "bucket list", but I've had, for years, a list of things I wanted to do before I died. Some of them: Learn to scuba dive (done that - have been diving in the Red Sea, Fiji, the Carribean and British Columbia) See the Pyramids - done that See the Great Wall - done that See the Great Barrier Reef - not yet Hold a grandchild - done that Travel around the world by train - not yet, but planning

{ See the Pyramids - done that } { See the Great Wall - done that }
Oh, extreme envy here, I've always wanted to do these, but never had the money, plus I hate to fly, so I know it will never happen.
Although I don't have a specific list, despite starting this thread, we are going to Niagra Falls for two days in June. That is something I would have had on my list. It costs $$, and that made me realize if I had a list practically everything on it would cost big bucks, like the two above.
{ There is no such thing as to much money when something is a priority. }
When disposable income is limited, yes there is such a thing as not having enough.

My bucket list items are not all that expensive. Probably the most expensive is a custom motorcycle for DH . There are a couple events I would like to attend (Shot Show and the Tulsa Gun Show). I purchased one of my bucket list items just last week. 1988 Buick Reatta

I don't have a written list per se, but there are many places I want to see.
I took a picture of my feet on The Great Wall. I love that picture!
I took my children to many of our national parks while they were little (10 and 5 one summer, 11 and 6 the next). I took them on a cruise to Alaska and we saw glaciers, but didn't have time to go to Denali, so that is still on my mental bucket list. We flew to the east coast and spent two weeks seeing DC, colonial Williamsburg, etc.
I think my trip to Egypt next year is not going to happen. Bad timing. We will choose an alternate destination and see Egypt another time. My son wants to go to Hawaii, and now my Mom (78) says she does too, so I guess we will do that instead. I'm not super excited about that, but will enjoy the time with my family.

Sure, when the cruise lines reposition their ships for summer you can generally get one from Miami/Ft Lauderdale to Europe for a pretty good rate. The crossing isn't always a breeze, though. Take along some Bonine.

Anyone interested in booking a cruise should check out vacationstogo.com. They sell unsold tickets from all cruise lines, all over the world. (And yes, some are transoceanic).
That Alaskan cruise I mentioned? I had been eyeing it for years, it was regularly $2600 per person. I booked it for $999 through Vacations To Go.

I traveled quite a bit-49 states (missed Alaska) a bit of Mexico, 3 provinces of Canada and New Zealand before I DH and I decided to build a life together.
The only new place we've ever been together is St. Croix.
He's not a traveler. I knew that and respect that.
Eventually, I'll get him to Ireland where we both have family, and I will travel again with the friend I had the most adventures with before DH.
That being said, I've already had an amazing life and if I die tomorrow, I've done a lot of things that others have only dreamed of. I'm satisfied.

Yes! Don't call it a bucket list though; it's a life list! You can go to mylifelist.org and make one. It's kind of fun. If you chose to, you can share your list with others, although I didn't. Mine has a few travel destinations, one of which I'm scratching off in two weeks. Yay! I think I have a few education goals on there too. My biggest and most important item is eventually living at the beach.

Thanks for that link, happyprose! I feel like I should set some goals, I've spent my whole life kind of nose-to-the-grindstone without really stepping back and thinking about what I want to accomplish before I die. It'll probably end up being mostly concerts and travel. I would like to skydive, too, but I think I'd have to start smaller, like bungee jumping.
(DH and I are going to see Soundgarden in July, though... scratch one off the list!)

We are heading to Niagara
I made DH and the boy and girl go here a few years ago. It was amazing!!! It had changed so much since I had first seen it 30 years before, when I was a kid. One of the things that didn't happen? I grew up with the "Old Man of the Mountain" in New Hampshire. He was made of granite and was part of the mountain. He was always meant to be there.
And now he's gone and I'm reminded that the wonders f the world only exist for those who are there to appreciate them.

Anyone here working on a Bucket List?
I'm still working on the list and trying to get listed items scratched off. My list isn't about seeing things and doing wild things but is intended to get my financial house in order so that DW will have an easier time when I'm gone. Right now we have several properties and I have to pare them down. Also I'm working diligently on getting the main residence in shape so as to make the sale of it easier (and more profitable) if DW decides to sell it. So, basically my list is a to-do list with the most important items tackled first.

I also would like to see Elton John. Many concerts in my past, but not him. I hope he comes to the NY area one day again!

I am I guess, but I just think of it as things I want to do, not things I want to do before I die. Like others, travel is part of it. My hobbies are another part. Fostering. That's it off the top of my head.

In no particular order...
Hike the Appalachian Trail (Southbound) from Maine to Georgia- be nice if my son & daughter would do it with me. No way the cruise director would do it. She'd meet us at various places along the way- but she'd never deign to camp.
Own an ocean-to-inter coastal estate in South Florida
Sail from my home across the gulf stream around the Caribbean for a year with the family.
Take a hunting safari in Africa- Botswana, Kenya, South Africa
Trip to Austria / Vienna. Trip to Holland.
Get my pilot's license.
Run a marathon.
Visit Alaska.
Reel in a Blue Marlin. I've hooked one. Never brought one in.
Own a restaurant and bar.
Sail round trip to the Med from my house. See sights and what not while there. Not really thinking "around the world", though that would be pretty cool.
Attend professional driving schools-- off-road, on-track, and that school body guards and secret service guys learn at. That last one would be kick ass.
Visit Australia.
Learn to spear fish. Had something scheduled last year, and I didn't follow through on it.
Do the Tripple Lindy...OK, not really.

Learn to spear fish. Had something scheduled last year, and I didn't follow through on it. My brother has recently taken it up. He's stationed in Hawaii. He says it's an absolute blast. I'm looking forward to giving it a try when we visit.
