politics.blogs.foxnews.com/2011/05/12/house-approves-bill-lift-drilling-moratoriumHouse Approves Bill to Lift Drilling Moratorium by Chad Pergram | May 12, 2011 The House of Representatives voted to open more of the nation's oceans for oil and gas exploration on Thursday by a vote of 243 to 179. The "Reversing President Obama's Offshore Moratorium Act," requires the Interior Department to set a production goal of three million barrels of oil per day for its 2012-2017 leasing plan. In order to reach that target, the legislation requires the department to hold lease sales off the coast of Southern California, in the Arctic Ocean, off Alaska's Bristol Bay, and in the Atlantic Ocean from Maine to North Carolina. Republicans say that the bill, along with two other drilling measures passed earlier this month, would create 1.2 million jobs and lower the price of oil. The Congressional Budget Office says that the offshore lease sales would generate $800 million in revenue over ten years. The Obama administration released a statement opposing the bill Wednesday. The White House argued that the proposal would undermine the current leasing process and mandate drilling leases without input from the affected states.

Don't you know yet that taxes on the rich and deficit spending are the ONLY ways for us to get ourselves out of this recession???

No, shelby, but we do speak the same political language. Since you do not-- do you have a response to Obama opposing this?

I do wonder about the states impacted by such legislation. Don't they get a say in this? I don't have the time, right now, to look up this bill; however, I will do so in the next few days. It would seem to me impacted states would have a right to some input.

jkapp-- I just keep forgetting that jobs and money and stuff aren't important. I'm so used to them, you know. Maybe when all the rich people are gone we might get some jobs?? But--- who would be the bosses if all the money is out of the scene, in India or Japan or something?

Seems to me that except for radical environmentalists, people living in those states might appreciate the chance to make some money and spend it all over the states to create more jobs, and more, and more..

I see there is a purely coincidental lowering of oil prices at the same time as hearings into speculation, obscene profits, and corrupt hedge funds- strangely there were none of these under BOOOOSH! ;D

now states rights matter?
what about arizona? don't they have any input on the federally endorsed/forced open border? how about the citizens of westchester county? they didn't have any input on the federally forced racial housing integration that the towns are now forced to deal with.
how about ANY unfunded federal mandate

..they WANT the US to fail under Dems- and they're doing great at it!! the dems want the US to fail too. you still think there is a difference between members of the two parties? they both get told what to do at the bilderberg hotel. they are both willing, contributing, participants in the NWO
