Firebird, the honeymoon was great, we went on a cruise around Hawaii and spent way too much money but it was amazing. We spent $5000 though, for a week. Not very frugal. Drama, when I went for my last gyno(3-6 month ago, I can't exactly remember) I did that. I have a family history of GD and one person that did not take care of herself during then the GD turned into type 2. I am really bad about taking care of myself, like normally getting oh, 2-3 fruits/veggie a week not a day and eating way too much chocolate. I also drink too much caffeine. I used to be about 95-100lb and could never get myself any higher, then I moved to buffalo have been just racking on the lbs. I gained 6lb in 2 weeks. It is crazy and I want to get health for me, not just with the baby but it helps me keep focused. I have started making sure to get fruit every day (checked the expecting book for the best ones), sometime twice a day and try to get a serving a veggies a day (trying for more) and I switched from white bread to wheat. I am walking down stairs instead of taking the elevator if it is just a few flights, those kind of things. Why should my DH not drink?

I answered that back on page 1 before you posted gin, we were typing at the same time.
It's great to be pro-active gin. My OB said she could not stress how happy she was I was asking questions BEFORE I got pregnant because a lot of problems can get worse once you are pregnant.

So, he can't drink while we are TLCing (much) but when I am prego he can, good to know. I must have missed that in the book. Drama, any advise I would love to hear. I did not have many questions except about my medicines.

Haha... granted, I may not WANT DF to drink in front of me because I'll be jealous!
So... is there going to be a little gin on the way soon? ;D

Oh there are women that make their men not engage in anything they can't while they are pregnant. I personally am not one of them. Now if DH was rubbing in my face that he could have a beer with dinner and I couldn't that would have been a different story, but I wasn't going to make him refrain from imbibing a glass of wine with dinner just because it wasn't "fair".
Some men do it anyhow, but personally I've never understood "making" your guy follow the same rules you have to.
It's been assumed for a very long time that men produce not only a lot of sperm, but GOOD sperm no matter what their age or their health, but now they are finding out that isn't the case. Things that can affect a woman's fertility can also affect a guys virility and the quality of sperm also declines with age, just like a woman's.
It's pretty interesting to read up on how far reproductive science for men has come.

Mawwage... mawwage is what bwings us togevah... today.
That DWEAM... wivin a DWEAM.
My most favorite movie!
Gin - I am happy for you. I ended up taking prescription prenatals because all the others irritated my stomach a lot.
You can also read what to expect before you're expecting. I also liked You, Having a Baby by Dr. Oz.
I was pregnant within the first cycle after stopping BC, which is abnormal, but you never know. You're already ahead of the game by educating yourself.
I agree with Drama - sometimes there can be too much information. I also read Hands off my Belly - it dispels a lot of myths about pregnancy that well meaning friends and strangers insist on telling you. I really enjoyed that one.
Keep us in the know!
Firebird, you're next...

I thought it was because it would be mean to me, to drink in front of me like someone in AA. During one of my pregnancies, I banned DH from drinking wine in front of me. I was so desperately craving wine that I was afraid if I drank a little I wouldn't stop until I was really drunk. I've never felt more like an alcoholic than then. I didn't care if he drank beer or anything hard in front of me but wine was banned. He understood and didn't have a problem with it.

I liked Pregnancy for Dummies. While I find it hard to see teh word "pregnant" and "dummy" in the same sentence it's a really informative book and does a good job of giving "just the facts ma'am". The Mayo Clinic Guide to Pregnancy is one that the ladies on the pregnancy thread recommend often.
