I had to make some "global" id. Will the one I use here still work here? To my knowledge yes, cause on the testing board there some 179,248 members and here it's about 2,000. That's for ALL Proboards members, that's where I think the global part comes in. |

That's just a testing board to find the bugs and to just get used to it. I'm used to BETA cause a website that I go to all the time switched over to BETA and what a difference. So I'm happy that Proboards is switching over. I'm glad you went GEL cause the more that learn the nicer the transition will be.

GEL, I am using the global id beta for the current boards in addition to the global id on V5. this is how it works. You create your global id - it's like a master ID. then, you add forums - it prompted me for my user id/password for each board i set up. (I have way more than what this screenshot shows but with the beta version, if you change your pw, it removes the account from your list and you can't re-add it. it will be fixed with the release of v5) after you have them set up, you login in using your global login and you can easily jump from one board to another.  |

I hope so, Bill. My brain is resistant to change. To do simple text posting in basic font, there will be almost no change. Pictures and videos are about the same also. If you want to play with things, there are great options. But you don't have to use them if you don't want to. |

I saw some of the different things over there, Bill. That's going to be my main issue. I can't STAND a bunch of pics and emoticons - especially when they move. Gives me a headache. I'll just have to see how it all unfolds. It appears a bunch of borders and things are available. I'm gonna hate that. Most are going to love it tho, I wager.

GEL, the thread you posted on is one where xsteve is just messing around with html. most people aren't going to be doing that because it has to be coded by hand and i really don't see 99% taking that kind of time, even if they knew how.
so, as sugi said, i don't thinks will be drastically different. may see some more colorful posts, but that's probably about it.

I don't like things that wiggle, and jiggle, and jump up and down on the screen, either, GEL. I find them distracting and, like you, can end up with a headache if there are too many of them.

Slow Forums or Missing header/footer codes

We have had reports over the course of the morning that forums have been loading slowly.
This issue is as a result of certain header and footer codes that are hosted at proscripts.co.uk (a third party site that is not owned or operated by us)
Currently they appear to be offline, and as a result is causing the slow loading on your forums.
In order to rectify this issue we have been forced to temporarily remove these codes from all headers/footers until such time that their problem resolves.
This will fix the page hangs people have experienced, but any functionality that those codes offered will not function until their site is back online.

I knew it was on ProBoards end. But a lot of peeps and myself included have been losing posts altogether or a delayed posting of them. This has been happening for a while as well.

All of our scripts are hosted on a server operated by a company called Hodgins Media. It's not related to ProScripts.
If a post goes out and then doesn't immediately show up, it's a problem on Proboards' end of things. Their database servers aren't able to update in time to meet the incoming page requests.
It's annoying, but it happens. Hopefully this is a temporary issue related to upgrades or migration over to v5.
My advice is to always Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C your post before submitting it. If the server drops the post for some reason, wait a short while, paste in your buffered text (Ctrl+V), and try again.

Yeah I kinda been fiddling around with it. I don't seem to get it as much as others possibly cause I highlight/copy my posts then post. So I don't lose much if anything. Thanks anyway.
