Or, since the money doesn't matter, you could try and bury the hatchet. Tell the SIL that if she needs the money, she can have it but that you don't like the way she is handling the estate and the way she is treating you. Maybe the relationship can be saved...

I do realize this isn't about money. It is about your DH's mother and dad's personal items. Maybe some jewelry, books, handmade quilts. Please speak up for the sake of your children if you have any.
My FIL was going to revise his will after my MIL passed away a few years ago. My DH was second born son and CLEARLY not the favorite. My FIL had the audacity to ask my DH if he wanted to be in the will. WHAT??? If he wanted to be in the will?? DH said 'no'. As DH said, I could say 'no' and not get anything or say 'yes' and be a greedy SOB. I don't think DH's mother would have wanted him left out, unfortunately the $$$ and personal property belongs to FIL. So when BIL starts probating the estate, I know the first thing he will say to DH, 'if dad would have wanted you to have anything, he would have left it to you in the will.'
Please pay the money and speak to an attorney.

Archie, that's what the sister is hoping will happen. So why not make it happen for her? She obviously needs it and the rangefinder does not.

OK, you little whippersnapper. Mind your manners and don't sass the elders on this board.
