Mizbear: Sending you good thoughts for your procedure this week. Dakota: Glad that Mini-D had so much fun at the birthday party. We had Miss Pants' party this weekend at the fun zone in town. She had a blast. Muttley: Relieved that you all are ok. Scary business what happened in Joplin. MK: Glad that things are going well with the puppy training. I watch that "It's me or the dog" show from time to time. You seem to be working on that same things that those dogs have issues with. They seem to be pretty successful with training them so I have high hopes for you and Thor

mizbear - Hugs. Good Luck on your colonoscopy.
We had another potty success today!! DS was acting ansy and DH asked him if had to use the potty and DS ran to the gate that goes back to his bathroom and he used. Then at bedtime DS ran to his potty and pointed to it and did #1 and #2 before bed! Rock on! I think we might move beyond passive potty training and into active potty training while he is has a lot of interest and momentum. Not sure. It is really up to DH.

azmom - I'm just getting ready to fill a box - did you still want it? If so, just PM me your address and I'll finish it up & ship it out this weekend (our wonderful post office has a do-it yourself station so we can go any time - i.e. when the main part is closed and the place is empty!)
mizbear - good luck - hope gm is ok
Day to NYC for work this week - makes the rest of the week super busy.

Muttley-- so glad you are safe. I have been mesmerized by the television footage all day. No rain from Sunday am until 6pm tonight. It was almost 70* today, perhaps summer will come. We have had about 6 inches this month--about three times normal. Every night I check to see if I am developing webbed feet, not yet. It was so nice to be able to move almost normally today without such pain, I got quite a bit done. Every time I reached out to touch the new library book I snatched my hand back and reminded myself it is supposed to rain most of Tues and Wed and I can read then. Since both kitties don't like to get their toes wet and have been staying inside napping so much they are having a big case of cabin fever when they do play. AZmom--The History Channel has an interesting series about "How the States Got Their Shapes". Some of them are airing this week. Don't worry about the camp issue. Just DD knowing you thought she was "big enough" to even consider it was a big thing. At her age actually going is still a bit scary. Sapphire--I sure haven't noticed much reduction in gas prices here yet. And to think I live so close to Wyoming which has the nations' lowest prices. KCgal--My iris are blooming and they are beautiful!

Update: 7 NS + 13 CS = 20 of 27, 5 MOANs
Not certain if I'll hit my goal this month. I know it I won't hit my 12 NSDs. My 3 NS days a week are supposed to be Tues, Wed, Thurs, but with DH needing to fill up the car with gas on either Tues or Thurs, that's turned one into a CS. In a normal month, I don't think I'd have a problem getting my other NS on a Monday, or even possibly a weekend day, but we've just had so much going on that it hasn't happened. Oh well. Once we get the roomie moved out early next month and the cousin gets a summer job (hopefully) we'll settle in to a new routine and I can get back on track.
mizbear: *hugs* muttley: glad you're all safe. good luck on the potty training

MizBear- My DGP had that problem once I can't remember if it was sodium or potassium that was culprit, he drank a ton but was still dehydrated.
Cute mini-D story- This AM he wanted to wear his stripey (primary colors) socks with a pair of shorts. I really didn't think anything about it until I noticed that he pulled them all the way up to his knees. It was adorable, I just gave him a big hug for getting his socks on by himself.

I made hand soap! Very simple to shave down a bar of soap, add 1 cup of soap to 10 cups water, a little glycerin and then funnel it into containers. Based on how much bar soap I have in the bathroom I should never have to buy liquid soap again.
Next up I'm going to continue shredding paper to make compost for the garden by layering paper and new soil in the flower beds.

How awesome start! THat is one thing I can't wait for with when I have a house- all of the eat projects I will able to do.
Funny rant- my maintenance guy comes to caulk the counter where the electrician had been working on the HWH the other day. He looks at the wall- where the electrician has messed up the paint and coating- and says "he just said it needed to be recaulked"- that's when I told him the guy didn't cut the caulking before he pulled the counter up- now maintenance has to come in, sand, and paint- He wants a piece of the electrician. Oh yeah- and if what the electrician told me is right- he just did the same thing my maintenance guys did to my breaker- so he told me not to run my DW, etc when I m not there. He said he must have put a new breaker bar in.

Muttley- Yes they are. Good luck with potty training! I've heard kids in cloth diapers are quicker to potty train because they feel wet, where with disposables they don't.
Start- Do you know if you can make smoothies in advance and just get them out to thaw in the AM? Mini-D hates the sound of the blender, so if I could make it the night before and toss in the freezer until the morning it would make my mornings less stressful.

Hi ladies, I am back! The wedding was great, as was the honeymoon (except my MIL flipped out and left the rehearsal dinner place because people came early, 5:30 not 6pm we told her that would happen because the rehearsal was at 4, and did not come to the wedding because her hair was messed up, sigh). My DH is still upset about it but managed to have a great time at the wedding and in Hawaii.

gin- There is at least one in every family- congrats again and I wish you all the best.
dakota- Depending on what's in the smoothie, certain types should freeze well. But, that said- I haven't frozen a smoothie in years (I used to freeze them and put them in insulated bottles to take to work with me).

sapphire- Great Article! Many people don't understand why I harp on the problems with laws that prevent Social Security / Disability recipients from having more than X in savings. While they shouldn't allowed to be able to have unlimited assets, a 6 month security net could really help people and many who have learned to become- or were already frugal- can really stretch their money to help themselves.

mizbear - I agree completely. Allowing people on assistance to build a 6 month or even a 3 month emergency fund would help them learn to think beyond paycheck to paycheck, and start building a better future for themselves. I'll be saving money in cash from now on so that I don't have to declare it when I apply for financial aid when I go back to school. Then again, I also think that debt payments should be taken into account when figuring eligibility for assistance, as long as the person agrees to avoid taking on any further non-medical or education related debt and makes timely payments to those debts. I really think it's a "give a person a fish...teach them to fish" sort of situation. We're giving out tons of fish, but no fishing poles.

Life jackets only last so long- swimming lessons last a lifetime
Have picked my song for the contest- now the outfit picking starts... thank goodness I own a red gown! Going to do "Like We Never Loved At All" by Faith Hill. The contest is Opry style this year and the place they are hoding it is historic.

I am so frustrated! The insurance adjuster was supposed to come to examine the picture window that was damaged in the terrible hail storm last summer. It took going through the winter to discover the seal between the two panes was broken, it is now all hazy and foggy. Maybe he just checked it from the outside. I have checked the prices and for about $700 more I can put in a bay window with side windows I can open for ventilation. It will add more than that in the resale value of the house. I think I will do it. If the kitties had a vote in this decision I know we would be doing it. mizbear--have fun and good luck!

gin- congrats!
dakota- I don't know how fast they'll thaw in the morning but if it's just a matter of 8ish hours you could refrigerate. Are you blending ice or is it any noise from the blender that DS doesn't like? If you prep the night before by slicing fruit and defrosting any frozen items then it should run pretty smooth and quiet.
Oh, and a fun tip. After you blend, empty the mixer and add a drop or two of soap, add some water from the tap, replace the lid and blend again. It will clean most of the junk off very quickly and you'll just need to rinse.
At the Makers Faire I saw the most awesome bubble thingys, I really want to make one and then borrow a toddler. Basically two fishing poles connected by rope and you make loops in the rope. Then dunk in a bucket with soap and lift out carefully, wave in the wind a little and you've got bubbles!

I'm crocheting this throw blanket for my living room, and I made it extra wide cuz I like having a nice big blanket to cuddle in. It's about 80" wide, and I'm trying really hard to make it at least square. I'm at 75" long and 6" from the end of the row I run out of yarn. At 11 o'clock at night. And I really wanted to finish tonight. darn it. There's nowhere to get yarn at this time of night. blast. I'm half tempted to tear out the partially completed row, tie it off, and call the darn thing done. I'll lay it out and see how it looks. Grumble. why is it that it always takes you about 1/3 of a skein of yarn more than you thought you'd need?

Dakota: congrats on mini D. I have the same problem with blenders in the morning. I would love a smoothie but don't want to wake up the whole house.
OMG MORE drama with the neighbor (feel free to skip.) So while I was at my rental yesterday the kids came over and one of them (and he is never quiet) tells all the kids not to touch the dog he has diseases and stuff, his mom told him so. DF tells him his mom doesn't know what the hell she is talking about. Kid goes back (or maybe she heard DF) and tells mom. So now their kids, including DS#1s best friend can't come over here. Plus DD loves their youngest son and there is no way I am taking her over there!
I did inform her this morning that the dog does have all his shots and she goes into how if DF has a problem with her not to get her kids involved. Well telling the kid his mom doesn't know what she is talking about isn't getting the kids involved.... Can't post anything on facebook since she is a friend and I am doing all I can not to make things worse.
But apparently she is a vet since she is sure something is wrong with my dog's eyes because he gets eye gook. Oh and their new puppy that they are getting this coming weekend won't be able to play with ours since who knows what ours has and they are paying a $1000 for it...

SES: We are going to have to have an insurance adjuster out here also. Chances are we will need a new roof. Such a pain waiting for people then just the pain of having the work done...... I am glad we kept our deductable at $500!
I drove through North Minneapolis, while we didn't get hit as hard as so many other places it is something to see so many roofs torn off, tarps over the roofs left, freeway exits closed to keep people out of the area etc.
