Oh, good grief, welts! I hope all his bones are intact! I think I'd be looking for the owner of that refrigerator for an old-fashioned talking to. Then, I'd move on to the delightful cell phone crowd. What's wrong with people, indeed!

We seem to be living in an age of "Document first, help later." Perhaps they get a sense of importance when it shows up on youtube so folks could get a good belly laugh at others' misfortunes.

It's just freaking crapped up sickness, not to help first.

How is your son doing now?

If I had seen that happen, the last thing on my mind would have been to tape it or to take a picture.
I would have helped.
What is wrong with people is a good question to ask.
He could have been seriously injured. I'm glad he wasn't.

Ain't that the truth! Since welts posted this, I've been sitting here trying to figure out how anybody who's looking at someone lying flat on the ground with a huge, heavy refrigerator on top of them could possibly pull out their cell phone and start snapping pictures. The thought is mind-boggling!

He's banged up pretty good, but nothing seems broken. He's in quite a bit of pain, but refusing to go to the doctor. "I'll be fine, Mom! Leave me alone. By the way, I need some Tylenol....got any?"

Poor kid! He sounds like my son, though. Couldn't get him to the doctor I don't care how hard I tried. He'd rather stay home and moan to anybody who'd listen!

you can do that when mom is a nurse or in the medical field. ;D
I honestly don't know what excuse to use when my son does the same thing though . . . refuses to go to the doctor. . . . neither of us are in the medical field.

OK, now I'm worried. He said he's going for x-rays tomorrow morning. He must be hurting something fierce if he agreed to go. I'm thinking he may have a cracked sternum or something. He's in a lot of pain.

He's in a lot of pain. DH is the same way. When men actually agree to go seek medical care, you KNOW they are in pain! My best to him.... That is just awful..

Oh, dear. I hope that's not the case, welts, but I'm glad he's willing to go find out for sure what sort of damage might have been done. I'll keep him in my thoughts and hope for the best!

When he gets home, you can beat him senseless with his cell phone and send him back to the hospital.

Yes, he finally went for X-Rays. He has a hairline fracture of his sternum and multiple contusions. Not a whole lot can be done, and they want him off work. Knowing him, he'll probably go in anyway, because he has new car payments. The company he works for doesn't provide paid sick days.

Oh, man! I'm so sorry, welts! He does need to let his employer know he's hurt, though. There's no way he should be doing heavy lifting with a fractured sternum!

I'm sure, if he tells them what's wrong, they'll let him drive instead of lifting and hauling, welts. It's the only humane thing to do and it keeps him working which is an advantage to both him, and the company.

Come to think of it, does Canada have anything like Worker's Compensation? A lot of companies here will allow people who are injured on the job to work at jobs that won't cause further injury. That way, they can get out of a heavy Workman's Comp claim.

Unfortunately, moving season is over, and it's been very slow.
