Montreal is a dynamic city, there's no doubt. I just wish it didn't get so bloody cold in the winter! I wonder if we could cut it loose and float it to the Caribbean ..,. ;D

Oh my, oh my, oh my. We don't live far from there, and my wife works in Kennebunkport, where I grew up. Believe me, the town is abuzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I could fill these pages with rumors, innuendo, bs and lies. No facts though. One of the selectmen I know supposedly knows some of the names, and I have heard a couple that may even be credible. Aside from all of the raunchy comments, jokes, etc., there was a very poigniant letter to teh editor that was paraphrased in the editorial from the wife of one of the Johns, who admitted his mis-deed to her. Very sad, he's suicidal, they are worried about their kids being teased, and she is at her wit's end. Very sad. Plus to anyone who takes any pride in their town or the area it is very hurtful to know that it is part of the national media. Christ you could make a Lifetime movie out of this mess. Oh, and my Mother asked me yesterday if I was on the list. She was joking. I think? Dem-it's my understanding the list of her clients is soon to be made public. A modern day Peyton Place. That whole thing is such a nasty mess! Innocent people are being hurt. While we may have had a whole bunch of people doing a myriad of stupid things, is it really necessary for us to know all the gory details? It's just sad about the spouses and children.

It rains a lot now, instead of snowing.

Awwww....what a cutie! Guess where much of the demand for poached ivory tusks is coming from? Churches. Way to go.

CEBU CITY—Security guards on Friday prevented government investigators from entering a church in Talisay City where religious statues made from “blood ivory” are allegedly kept. The church guards blocked the agents of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) from inspecting the Diocesan Shrine of Jesus without a search warrant. The shrine was set up by Catholic priest Cristobal Garcia, who is suspected of involvement in the smuggling of ivory, which is used to make religious statues. An international wildlife conservation convention, to which the Philippines is a signatory, bans the trade in ivory to prevent the slaughter of elephants for their tusks. Security guards at the Catholic shrine told investigators they would have to speak to the priest’s lawyers first, according to Eddie Llamedo, the DENR spokesperson. He conceded the team did not have a search warrant at the time and would have to obtain the proper legal papers. Asked about the incident, Cebu archdiocese spokesperson Monsignor Achilles Dakay said “the lawyers are taking care of that. We will be cooperating (with authorities) but we have church lawyers”. Garcia was cited in a National Geographic article as giving advice on how to smuggle ivory and naming carvers who could turn it into religious statues. The article has touched off a nationwide investigation into the smuggling of ivory, and particularly its use in making religious statues in this largely Roman Catholic country. globalnation.inquirer.net/51816/ivory-probers-barred-from-entering-church

I read a really sad article about how killing elephants for ivory is becoming a massive commercial operation. Apparently in certain countries the army is in on it and shipping it to China. Have you seen Born to be Wild? My son loved it.

I don't watch animal movies. Even a commercial for the Humane Society makes me burst into tears.

mmhmm-I know you down watch tv, but if you occasionally watch, and you have cable, and it carries Animal Planet, do watch 'Too Cute' on Saturday evenings. It's all about cat and dog litters from their time of birth to the time they are off to new homes. You will get your fill of kittens and pups. You can even watch some episodes below. animal.discovery.com/tv/too-cute-kittens/

Mmhmm, I'm really, really sick with acute bronchitis. It started as a run of the mill URTI and is now squatting in my lungs. I feel like death warmed over, and naturally, it's crazy busy at work. I'm doing my own job, coming in for another gal who is on vacation and working in the vaccination clinic. They just asked me to do another stretch of seven, and I had to refuse before I collapse, even though I have to work as much as I can, when I can, as I'm part-time. So, being a smart-ass health professional, I didn't go to the doctor. What are they going to do? Take an X-Ray to tell me I have acute bronchitis, and not prescribe any antibiotics because it's probably viral. I'm trying to stay hydrated, taking tylenol for the low grade fever and codeine to relieve the cough at night. I was just wondering if you know of any home remedies for symptomatic relief that are tried and true. After all, the rales and crackling and violent coughing spasms are scaring the cat. I'm just going to wait it out.

I hear you, welts. I usually treat myself when I get something like that, as well. For this sort of thing, I usually recommend lots of fluids, rest, Ibuprofen (and/or Tylenol), and an OTC expectorant. That's really about all you can do. Of course, if you have trouble breathing, or find yourself wheezing or running a high temp, it's time to see the doc ... but, you already know that. Good luck, hon. The only good thing to say about this stuff is that it will go away in a week, or two, as long as pneumonia doesn't develop.

No, not better yet. I'm in a lot of pain. My chest and ribs hurt like the dickens and I still have a low grade fever. At least I'm taking three days off. All I did today was a little grocery shopping in a fog (left my wallet at the store) because there was nothing to eat in the house and I ran out of cat food. I slept a lot. It felt wonderful.

Hope you're watching the colour on anything you're coughing up! That's the biggest danger with brochitis. It can turn to pneumonia so damned quickly. An expectorant can help, and even a humidifier, if you need (and have) one.

I already called my work place that I will not be able to make to work on Monday and Tuesday. We have to take care of our body, nobody else will.

I didn't even care if someone took the money as long as I got my documentation back. The $80 was still in there.

I left my wallet at the grocery several months ago, welts. I, too, was fortunate in that the grocery called me to let me know they had it. Everything in it was intact. The manager said some nice woman had found it and turned it in.

I'm not the person who lost a wallet - but I found one outside the grocery store in the parking lot not long ago - right next to my car when I went out with my cart. I had seen the (elderly) couple from the car that had been parked beside mine, because they entered the store at the same time as me and checked out at the cashier a few people ahead of me. When I returned it to customer service, she assured me that they would keep it in their safe and also contact the owner - unless they returned before then.
I'm a regular at the store, and know most of the clerks and staff - so about a week later, I asked at the desk if it had been recovered, and she told me that the gentlman had returned after discovering it was missing, and was extremely grateful and relieved. It brightened my day.

OMG! Listen to this! As you know, my son is a mover. Today they had to move a place with a sub-zero fridge. Usually, when they have those monster fridges, the customer is supposed to tell the company so they could send a four-man crew, but this one didn't, in the hopes of saving money. Long story short, two guys are moving it down a short flight of stairs when it slipped and my child ended up on the sidewalk lying underneath it. The only thing that saved his life were his heavy-duty steel-toed and steel-soled boots. They ended up taking the brunt of the weight. Anyway, a crowd gathers and proceeds to.....
take pictures and videos on their cell phones.
What's wrong with people? Someone finally had to shout out "Get moving and help me get this thing off this kid!" They got it off, but he's banged up pretty badly. His chest, shoulders and arms are turning pretty shades of blue. But seriously..... What's wrong with people?
