Not all the news is dire or sleazy - a giant panda at the national zoo has given birth to a cub, her 2nd. Mei Xiang is the 'poster child for a perfect panda mom,' Suzan Murray, the zoo's chief vet said. "She is cradling her cub closely, and she looks so tired, but every time she tries to lay down, the cub squawks and she sits right up and cradles the cub more closely." Vets will not be able to examine the cub for a few weeks, to give Mei and the baby time to bond. They said. Mei most likely will not come out of her den, eat or drink for at least a week. Her first cub, Tai Shan -- dubbed Butterstick by D.C. panda fans, since he was the size of a stick of butter at birth -- was born July 9, 2005 and moved to China in 2010 to join a breeding program there. All the world loves pandas and a baby one must be something wonderful to see (via the panda cam).

I'm in the process of making soup. You know that foam you get when you're boiling meat? I skimmed it off and put it in the trash. Well, Sushi decided it smelled good (he's such a porcine eating machine). A few minutes ago, I heard "Bang! Crash! Smash! Clatter!" and saw something white streak past me, only to bounce off the walls and shelves, breaking vases, plants, lamps, knocking down books, etc. He somehow managed to open the metal trash can and get his head caught in the handles of the plastic shopping bag inside. The ensuing blind panic made him bounce around like a rubber ball, destroying everything in its path. I have to go clean up now. Stupid cat.

LOL, welts! I just got through pulling the meezer out of mother's toilet ... again. She was wet and she was maaaaddddd! The toy she threw in there and went after was also wet, and I think it may have been pretty angry, too. ;D

Some things just ain't right. Choo Chi, the meticulously-bred, beautifully conformed, Grand Champion-sired meezer just jumped into my lap, circled slowly, settled down, smiled sweetly up and me and ... FARTED. I had to leave.

'Twas less than funny, dammit! The little beauty smelled like a charnel house! My first question was: "Did you EAT that?!?"

And that's with a steady diet of nutritionally-balanced cat food, right? Mine is still stealing food. Bean chili. Indian curry. Garlic fettucine alfredo. Spicy samosas. Potato pierogis. Banana and cranberry bread. Can you imagine the stench?

Kitten farts are deadly. Just sayin' ...
I was scooping the litter boxes last night and found .... a fork .... in one of them. My weirdo klepto kitties are now stealing cutlery.

Oh, good grief, welts. If she'd eaten the likes of that stuff, I'd have probably had to call 911! She was bad enough and all she'd had was Royal Canin dry! A fork, eh, molly? Have you explained to them the litter box isn't the dining room?

I rolled over in bed the other night ... onto a cold, wet sponge from the kitchen. THAT will wake you up QUICKLY! I was imagining barf (or worse) and was relieved when it was just a sponge.

I can empathize, molly! I just finished helping mother get to bed, and came back to the living room to find my throw rug covered with flour tortillas. The meezer from hell opened the cabinet and freed them. Then, she and Little Awful Arnie apparently decided the darned things were frisbies! Cats!

Sugi, you'd have to live here to have any idea the mischief these two cats can get themselves into! It's a freakin' nightmare!

I use to absolutely love the mischief my Elmo used to get into. He was diabolical in the stuff he would dream up.

I think, one of the worst moments in my life occurred when my old Siamese, Charlie, came waltzing into a living room full of guests with my lacy, black bra in his teeth.

*chuckle* Yep, billis. It's the doldrums time in the political arena, I'm afraid. We're just going to have to watch it play out, now. Minus some catastrophic event, the die is cast.
