Am I the only one who wishes there was a general political chat thread?

Gah! That's awful, welts! We've been rainy and a little cool, but didn't have any snow all winter. Today, low 80s are predicted and low 60s at night. They're saying thundershowers, but it's bright and sunny right now. Sorry you're getting the white stuff!

I saw a bluebird today! First one have seen in years. He wasn't at my house though he was at my dads. A chickadee is hanging around my bluebird house and probably chasing off my bluebirds. I do still have some hope though after seeing one today.Keeping fingers crossed.

:::sigh::: I have three curly-leafed hoya plants on the windowsill. They're notoriously slow-growing. I stepped out for an hour to go to the fishmonger and the bakery. Upon arriving back home, I found the plants in pieces and the pretty Japanese clay pots in shards on the floor. The cat was sitting on the couch with a fake halo over his head. "Hey, don't look at me! It was like that when I got here. It had nothing to do with my misguided and ill-advised squirrel hunt. Did you buy any smoked salmon? I like smoked salmon. Mow."

Oh, dear. Sounds like my house again. I learned I can have nothing but silk plants. Anything else will be systematically destroyed.

Unfortunately, no, Robert. My cats will eat live plants and flowers before you can say "Scat!" I don't care for silk flowers, but don't mind the silk greenery so much if it's well done. It's expensive, though, if you get a good piece.

Robert, these are Oriental cats. They're....special. When I witnessed the carnage, I just wanted to cry. The Hoya plants grow about a half-inch a year. Even if I manage to save them, they won't bloom now. The blooms are spectacular. And the scent...OMG!!

See the little drops of nectar on the flowers? That stuff is sweeter than honey. It's an amazing plant.

welts, see if you can take some cutting from your mangled plants. They root pretty quickly, maybe salvageable?

They are awesome! I don't have curly leaves though and mine are in hanging pots! -------------------- Do they bloom often? You should never cut the spurs off, and they like to be pot-bound. My bigger ones bloom four times a year. Just one bloom perfumes the entire house, with a scent reminiscent of baby powder.

They bloom pretty heavy a couple times a year. In my small breakfast room I have to take it out when blooming. The scent is to overwhelming in that small room. They are pretty potbound and the flowers drip!

I'm not a happy camper. I understand. They are gorgeous. I didn't know they took that long to bloom. I have had 3 for years and just started a new one. Guess I will have a long wait.

We haven't had live plants inside our home ~ ever. Cats and live plants don't mix well, at least in my feline-centric world. Heck, my weird cats have been known to knock over and chew up the FAKE palm trees. :::: rolls eyes ::::

LOL. I got some plants and plant stands to go on each side of the fireplace, molly. They were very pretty silk plants. Apparently, they were good enough the cats thought they were real because they turned themselves inside out getting to them to eat them! Both plants ended up looking like they'd been attacked by locusts!

I guess we can call it Neo-locust, while trying to look sophisticated, molly. ;D

Honestly I'm so sorry for your plants, the real ones and the fake ones. But cats rule the house, you don't.
