Good luck with that, Tenn. If you have even a modicum of success, please share the secret!

What the hell is all that green stuff surrounding your house? We finally learned why Molly doesn't have AC she spends the money on watering the lawn! We bought in June 2005. Our winter is our dry season so I tripled our water bill running the sprinkler system. The lawn still looked like crap. I need to find a good low maintenance, low water, high heat FL grass.

Well, Dick Clark is finally dead. I'm sure that Dick was a nice guy, in spite of the fact that he damned near killed Rock and Roll, by making stars out of Fabian, Annette, Bobby Rydell, Bobby Vee, and a whole lot of other white kids with absolutely no talent. I am sure that Jerry Lee Lewis is rejoicing. Dick stopped playing his records after Jerry's marriage to his 14 year old cousin, which is why Jerry switched to country music.

We aerate our lawn. We feed our lawn. We fertilize our lawn. We overseed our lawn twice a year (fescue for when it's warm, rye for winter) We water our lawn only on City-approved days, during City-approved hours, for City-approved lengths of time. We mow and edge our lawn once a week, year 'round. I save extra rainwater to supplement watering during dryer months. What can I say? I like green grass ;D

I like a tidy lawn, but not enough to pay the gardener to come more often than once per week. ;D

;)I'm glad that I no longer have to worry about the lawn. That's the landlord's concern. If he wants to let it get too long, that's his problem not mine. WHEW!!!!!

Some updates re Sushi. He's lost about a pound since I got him, as he loves racing up and down the stairs, flying from the bed to the couch to the trunk, then starting all over again. Sounds like a herd of wildebeest from downstairs. So much energy! He seems to enjoy walking on the harness, as there's so much to see outside, from squirrels to woodpeckers. He's mischievous, and although he stays off the tables and counters, he likes to play games. He grabbed a $20 bill from my son's hands and hid it...we can't find it. All in all, I'm very happy with him...things couldn't have worked out better.

Glad to hear he took so quickly to the harness, welts. I never was able to get one of mine to accept a harness unless I started when they were kittens. He sure is pretty, and there's little more fun than a playful cat. Love the thief in him! ;D

Well my lawn will get green now. We finally got some rain. On top of all the warm weather that grass is going to grow like gangbusters now. We got the southern portion of that same front, Dem. That one was a toad strangler, for sure.

Considering our highs have been in the mid 80's for well over a month now, we're actually pretty 'chilly' today....only 71 here in west central FL.

When we bought our house three years ago, the lawn was about 1/2 grass/weeds and 1/2 dirt. There were pipes sticking out from the automatic watering system. So, we thought it over, ripped out the irrigation system, killed what remained of the grass and pulled the weeds.
We went to a desert landscape, with Arizona River rocks, pavers, some places where we have fake grass and a beautiful patio.
Once in a while we take out the leaf blower, blow any debris into a corner and shop vac the yard.
Love it!
