Here's a flipped example for you.
About three and a half decades ago, I had a summer job harvesting cherries. The orchard was family-owned and most of my coworkers were the owner's grandchildren, children, and their spouses. The owner refused to allow any of his grandsons to operate one particularly expensive and tricky piece of equipment that was crucial to the time-sensitive harvest. He'd train his daughters-in-law and his granddaughters to use it instead. He said that the young men weren't careful enough when operating it and that any female was extra-care when operating it.
If I'd stuck around for a few more summers, he might have taught me how to operate it. I had the crucial qualification. Then I managed to drive one of the ATVs that were used in the harvest (honest!) off the road and into a steep ditch. I wasn't hurt. Only plastic parts of the ATV were damaged. But he never spoke of putting me on the harvesting crew as the operator of that particular piece of equipment again.

Could you clarify whether this a-hole-ery is coming from patients or coworkers or both? I'm tempted to assume that it is coming from all sides, but I figured that I'd at least ask. Everyone. I can be short or less than pleasant with the nurses, and they just sort of brush it off or talk amongst themselves. A female physician doing the same thing-OMG it is like she committed the Manson murders. The gossip, etc is ridiculous. Patients will be seen by a Female physician, and then ask when the Doctor is coming to see them. They will be shocked when they call them a nurse, and then are told, "No, I am the Doctor". They think male PAs are the Doctor and the female Physician is a nurse or a PA. It is getting better, but it is still a problem for them That don't come as a suprise

That doesn't come as much of a surprise either.

Hey y'all, please stop calling someone that I don't like and don't agree with "barely literate" when her meaning is completely clear.
I know grammar. I recognize how what scali said violates standard written English. I also think that I understood what she was saying. I can't say that I agree with it, but I'm confident that I understand what she was trying to say.
Hey, folks on my team, you can do better than this kind of "I know the MLA" snobbery!

I hear what you're saying, but she burned that bridge on this board a very long time ago.

Yes, she was being snarky and insulting. That is the ONLY thing she was saying, and it came through VERY clearly, especially as her first and only post on the topic. Still, in 28 keystrokes (including spaces) there were more errors than I would make in a year of writing, much less simply my time posting here. Fair to call that out, when her only purpose all along was to insult? You may think not. Others will certainly disagree.

I agree you should not be playing the person..... only challenging the points he/she makes.

I was just stating that i'm not surprised about that posters attitude towards coworkers. Not like calling someone illeterate that is insulting. Maybe you can understand the difference then again maybe not. I once read only illerate people toss insults because they are lacking in their self worth.

That misspelling was absolutely deliberate and we all know it. There's a little squiggle that appears when something is wildly misspelled. We are being trolled.

My workplace is probably two-thirds female. Strangely, very few women drive forklifts (also referred to as hilos).
I used to think that this was a result of male managers believing that women couldn't drive hilos or women desperately avoiding any work that was coded male. Now I think that it has something to do with women being so absolutely dreadful to anyone driving the hilo (especially females) that only men dare do it.
Twenty years after starting the job, I now have a lot more female managers and even fewer women driving hilos. It used to be almost impossible to enter management without having a hilo certification. Now it's pretty common for women in management to be unable to do that rather crucial job. Paint me disgusted!

I hate when women pull the "I'm a lady, therefore I can't move heavy boxes". A common problem in the cosmetics department of a previous employer. Meanwhile, more than half of the employees working on the loading dock were female. Of course, the ladies working on the dock would roll their eyes when one of the women in the cosmetic department would always approach one of the guys to ask for help. They didn't want to break a nail, you know...

Oh, and how many women here have had their butt grabbed while working their job. I mean, not talking to anyone, minding their own business, and some male employee, or a customer comes up and without warning grabs you. (Are you supposed to be flattered, or grateful?) If we want to receive appreciation for doing a good job, that's NOT how to do it.

I do remember there being a culture of men bringing in mistletoe at Christmas..... and expecting kisses off all the female members of staff. I was called a few choice words when refusing to take part. Plus, they didn't know I was on the tail end of glandular fever and didn't want to spread it about.
I can't imagine it happening these days tbh.

If we want to receive appreciation for doing a good job, that's NOT how to do it. in my first year out of college, my company sent me to Ireland with a bunch of engineers in their early 30s. all married with kids, behaving like frat boys on these 2-3 week trips after working hard on the construction sites all day. I'd go to dinner with the team, and to the pubs for a little while (and not at all trying to keep up with them!) before heading back to the hotel earlier than the group. I'd always find a room key or two that was slipped into my back pocket at the pub from one or another of them. it was absurd. and no, none of them were ever used.

Oh if we are real lucky some jackass pushing his hard on onto your ass. So thoughtful of them

I'm rather impressed that nobody is taking that bait. i make plenty of spelling errors. i mispelled "led" "lead" for nearly fifty years. i can find leeway for fonetic speling.
