My tax person has responded to multiple 1 star reviews on yelp with apologies and explaining an EA and admin were both out.
I've sent an email asking if he is available to do my taxes now. Will see what if any response I get and then move on if needed.

And it's a go! Expectation is either Friday or sometime next week for the taxes. Very relieved and will be happy when they are finally done!

Finally my taxes are almost done! This is guy is busy and neglectful, but he is great! I thought I was going to owe but I have refunds for both fed and state.

He didn't make it so you don't owe the IRS or state. The information on your records did unless he did something shady.

I do agree, but turbo tax wasn’t doing it! And he has an excel template for my side biz money that helps organize all expenses and get the most out of available deductions. |

As with any computer program, garbage in, garbage out. That is why one needs to understand tax law if they use Turbo Tax for a business.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I used up my allowable e-files on my relatives' returns so I had to physically mail my return in. Plus because of a change in how I selected withholding from an inherited IRA I was overpaid by 17K. Anyway, I mailed my return at the post office on April 13. I'm still waiting for my refund. Dang.

my pocket change IRS refund has been deposited into my checking account. Nothing from state as yet.
The majority of my fed refund went to ibonds, so need to start checking informed delivery on my mail.
Disappointingly, getting a refund on 2023 401k contributions again. So that will be coming in the mail too.

I don't know how it is in Illinois for refunds, but Iowa is notoriously slow.

As mentioned above, I mailed my returns on April 13.
I received my refund from Minnesota on May 23. A little less than six weeks.
I'm still waiting for my federal refund. Seven weeks and counting.

No info on ours but not really surprised. I mailed but this was lost and never received. PO clerk said to wait another month and mail again with copy of first mailing not received using tracking. Clerk thought first would arrive and if they got second as well there would be confusion

Thanks for suggesting that I check with the IRS online website. I did that a couple of weeks ago and my return wasn't in the system then. I checked just now and it says that the return has been received. That's all I really need to know. My return is fairly straight forward. The income items are backed up by 1099s and I used the standard deduction this year, so I can't imagine that there are any issues. The IRS will directly deposit my refund into my bank account, so I'll just keep an eye there.

My Federal refund was finally deposited into my checking account today. Now I'm curious to see what they're going to say in a letter because the amount they refunded me was $80.62 less than what I expected. I can't see how I would have any penalty... my return was filed on time and I was overpaid. Since my taxes were paid via withholding, there shouldn't be any underpayment penalties.
