Man, that brings back memories of typing class and the rest of the eighties. That letter is definitely typed and we had to learn those formats when I was in high school.
OTOH, the letter is more congratulatory than informational. There is no way that NASA put that music on Voyager without Mr. Berry's permission and approval. (I was going to say Chuck's approval, but then I remembered some of the things that I learned in the eighties.) It's a fan letter. It's being sent through his agent. It is also quite sincere. It was sent to spread joy, despite the cramped business-letter formatting that I remember so well.
Also, it took a bit of a leap of faith to send such a letter. Chuck Berry was memorably crusty and salty during this time. The composers of the letter were wise to leave themselves out of the body of the letter.

Have you been diving into the concerts that celebrated Chuck Berry's 60th birthday? I've never seen the documentary that came out of those concerts. I'm only familiar with the video that Garland Jeffreys made for his song "Hail Hail Rock 'N Roll" that has a similar name as the documentary (different punctuation) and has confused and delighted me for thirty years.

a billion years, provided that it doesn't fall into a gravity well or get hit by a space rock.

a billion years, provided that it doesn't fall into a gravity well or get hit by a space rock. Do you think it would then rock and roll?
