Well, I applied for a Chase business card for my side hustles of dog sitting and selling eggs. It has a $900 sign on bonus if you spend 6K in 3 months which I would do with my 3 insurance bills and my property taxes. We'll see if anything comes of it. I'll probably get denied, and if I do, I'm calling it for this year's sign on bonuses. The best straight cash back I could find was $200 and I'd get $60 just using my normal card. Not worth the ding to my credit and adding to the 5 in 24 for $140.

Oh, I was just going to ask if there was any way you could qualify for a Chase business card - those are the best intro bonuses around. I've got 2 Ink cards right now, need to cancel at least one, although I won't be eligible for a bonus on them again for a while. I think it's 48 months now? I'll have to double check. I should have referred you! The business cards won't count against you in the 5/24 rule either.

I got approved!!! Woohoo! I don't know the limit yet. It doesn't say in the email and the account doesn't show up online yet.

This thread and the hunt for a newbie prompted me to go through all my cards and mark a few for culling. I cancelled my Chase Slate last night and transferred the credit limit to my Freedom card. I think today the Royal Caribbean and Choice Privileges cards will get the axe. They're fairly new and only opened to get the sign on bonuses. That still leaves me with 12. Still a lot, but they're either regular users and/or old lines I don't want to close.

So, the limit is only 6K, I guess my new Ink "Unlimited" isn't quite as advertised. I'll have to break up my spending a little to get the bonus, which is fine. Property taxes aren't going to post for a while anyhow.

Got another Chase Business card today. $1200 sign on bonus if you spend 8K in 3 months. Normally that's too high of a spend for me, but Carrot's tuition is due in a couple weeks and that will take up 6K of it. I'll have to give up some of the bonus to cover the $95 annual fee and the 2.95% fee to use a credit card for tuition. This will be a collect the rewards and it card. No advantage to keeping it around at all. The only annual fee one I find worth keeping right now is the Chase Sapphire.
This will bring me up to 3K from Chase this year.

I have both an Amazon Chase credit card and Amazon's own credit card. Both have the 5% bonus. I only put stuff on their own card when I want to take advantage of one of their 0% promos. Otherwise it sits with no balance. So you get 5% back on that card? Is there an annual fee? I order from Amazon a ton. 5% back would be nice. The Amazon Chase card is my daily use card. In addition to the 5% back you also get 10% off at Whole Foods, which works for me as an occasional WF shopper. I tend to let the point accumulate and use them to buy myself presents. ETA: Ugh, I need to pay attention to how old threads are!

I think maybe Madison has a Whole Foods. I know Iowa City does not. So Whole Foods is not an option for me.

Do you actually have to own a business for that card? Or is there a way around that?

Do you actually have to own a business for that card? Or is there a way around that? Yes, but the requirements for calling you business a business are pretty low. I have an egg selling and dog-sitting business.

I have more questions! so to get the 1200, you need to spend 8000 in 3 months. Supposedly businesses expenses? But then how is the 1200 cashback done - as business income? or just like usual rewards not taxed?

It doesn't matter what you use the card for and it's Ultimate Rewards points that can be redeemed for cash or travel. They aren't taxed.

Amazon keeps telling me that I would save money with their business card. Do I have to show income from a business I don't have?

Not familiar with Amazon business card, looks like it's through American Express and you get a $100 statement credit after 3K in purchases. But the cash back is the same as the regular Amazon non-business card and the regular card is offering a $200 Amazon gift card immediately upon approval (I should tell DS about this one).

Maybe this needs to be another thread, but I noticed in the new terms for my TJX CC, it will now start charging me for paper statements. This might be because I activated the MC side in the last couple months, IDK.
Do the collective you currently receive paper or e-statements? I don't like the idea of having this info emailed to me or is it yet another login thing I will have to manage? For me the cost is not insignificant $1.99 to $2.99 each month a statement is generated.

I have absolutely everything paperless and have for years.

FWIW, I have some utility stuff paperless but that doesn't worry me, and I have to pay every month. With store cards, I do not want to use them every month, so I find it harder to manage.

I still get paper CC statements from my Chase CCs but don’t need to pay. Also have auto pay for my CCs so they’re never late. Guess it’s inertia but the paper statements are reminders Also have electric and cable on auto pay and paper statements. No pay But did put my ATT bill for cellphone on electronic statement cause it saves about $4.50/month. Also on automatic payment. Don’t like having to log in to ATT to see my bill Really prefer not to get more email

Do you login to websites or have a preferred email address they go to? I get an email (and with a few a text) reminder when the statement posts, but it's not really necessary as I pay all my cards weekly anyhow and they're set up to autopay if something were to happen that I was incapacitated. I pay online or through the apps.

I do it all online.
I'm another one who pays weekly on my credit cards.
I don't trust the mail.
