Growing up we had tinsel on the tree. The cats enjoyed it every time the slider was opened because there’d be a breeze that would wiggle the tinsel. That was enough to keep them occupied, thankfully. The dogs were the problem as they felt a tree needed to be watered in their own special way!! I can still hear my mom yelling at them decades later. I warned my daughter about having a real tree and a German Shepherd. She’s learning, the hard way.

my cat, "chequers" used to launch himself into the tree and pull the whole thing over..... when he was on a mad charge around the living room. I got plastic baubles, battery lights .... and just kept picking it up. My dad nailed a string to the wall the tied the tree so it couldn’t go over when our cat would climb the tree.

We have a house full of cats. We do NOT have a Christmas tree. We do not leave wrapped gifts out where they can chew off the bows and ribbons, either.

I still have shatter proof baubles, even now. Its a busy household, especially around Christmas and its better to be safe. The glass ones are really beautiful but they are not suitable for here. Current colour scheme, copper, gold and mint green with berries and pine cones. Like this, but my house isn't that grand.

The minute I put up the tree, one of my cats ran over and attacked the stand and tree skirt. lol. No ornaments on the tree yet - so I will see what happens this week when we decorate.

Like the color scheme, but it's a little too much for me unless I saw it in the actual home. Used to go to see holiday fund raising house tours in CNJ. Always fun to see how the richer folks live and/or historic homes now turned into museums.

Speelbound, I'd love to see a pic if you are willing to post it. Your colors and choices sound lovely.
