Used prices are dropping a bit. I just looked at KBB for my car and where it was at a equal price for used and new, now it's getting closer to where it should be i.e. $10,000 less than I paid five years ago. When I looked at the beginning of the year, it was still high 20s. Granted, a year ago, it was only four years old and had 50,000 miles. Now, it has 72,000 miles. It's a 2018 HRV. Carvana sends me emails saying they'll buy my 2018 Civic for $20,000. I bought it for $22,000. Of course, it's only got 26,000 miles on it. It's also got a lifetime powertrain warranty, so I'm not giving it up.

Ooh, KBB says I can get $10,000-$11,000 private sale and $9,000 for a trade-in. Not bad for my 10-year-old Fit! Too bad I'm driving this car into the ground, and will probably be driving it for another 10 years going by its mileage and condition.

I just Googled ‘03 Honda Accords near me (I have a V6 coupe) and I only saw a couple that were less than $5k. Some with low mileage were over $9k!
Earlier this year my next door neighbor’s sister asked if I wanted to sell my car. She was looking for a car for her teenage son. Nooooo, I don’t want to sell my car. She’s still a champ, after 20 years. I spent $4k fixing some odds and ends a couple of years ago, when I had to put the Jeep in the shop where it stayed for about a month. That was to fix the driver side window that I’d had to rig so it would stay up, a small oil leak (deteriorated rubber thing), motor mounts, and some stuff on the front end that I don’t remember the details of, besides struts. Things that had worn out over time, that I just hadn’t gotten fixed because of laziness and the fact that she was still getting me everywhere I needed to go.
I couldn’t really complain about the cost because it was my fault for letting so many things go for so long, then getting them all fixed at the same time. I do not regret spending the $4k despite the age of the car at the time. The work was done at the dealer, where I’ve had the same people taking care of my car since I first bought it. She’s still going strong.
I’m keeping her for as long as I can. New cars cost too much lol.
We paid $10k for a 2010 Jeep Wrangler for me in 2020. We spent $800 on a repair in 2021. It still doesn’t even have 80k miles on it. We paid $10k for a 2010 Tahoe last year. It’s Mister’s, but I love that thing! Mister has a ‘90something Lincoln Town Car his Dad gave him years ago. It runs when he doesn’t let the battery die. He also has a 2016 Honda Accord sedan that he bought in 2018. So we have a smooth riding cruiser, a pretend sporty car, a practical car, a drive anywhere snow mobile, and a hauler.

My 2020 Subaru has less than 20,000 miles on it. Those miles are from going to Toronto and genealogy trips. It will make someone a good care when I can no longer drive.

I like to look on driveway.com. I have not bought a car from them, and the sub $5k ones always have a sale pending (plus shipping costs), but they still seem pretty reasonable.
