Well, first of all most of us know DeSantis doesn't have 2 brain cells to rub together. Secondly, I lived in a part of Florida that seemed to have a bit of trouble keeping the grocery stores stocked, before Covid even hit. (I drink Diet Pepsi, and I couldn't believe how often I was scrambling to get some when the stores were out. Totally frustrating when I'd moved from a part of the country that never had shortages of anything.) I don't know if Florida is "back to normal" yet from Covid. But DeSantis certainly shouldn't be biting the hand that feeds his state. There were plenty of Hispanic people, both citizens & immigrants who lived in my former community. If Florida gets blacklisted for anyone Hispanic from hauling down to that state, the citizens are in for a world of hurt. Throw in the chaos there of getting supplies when a hurricane is on the way, and I'm glad I'm outta there.

I think it’s funny that someone who prides himself on being a bully and forcing’woke’ companies to bend to his will is now being bullied by Hispanic truckers trying to get him to bend to their will.
He thinks he’s the King of Florida. He’s not.

Normally I am not for the corporation in most situations but in this case it amuses me that DeSantis seems to have forgotten who really runs America.

I hadn’t thought of this, but Raw Story has an article about this bill causing migrant workers to be scared and leaving the state.
This will have a huge impact on the construction and agricultural industries.
The proposed bill will have new penalties for transporting undocumented workers, imposes new requirements on employers to check immigration status, and makes out of state driver’s licenses issued to undocumented workers null and void.
Wonderful, for the orange farmers. I know how much Americans love to do those fruit picking jobs.

In my former community, the immigrants did a lot of the work no one else wanted to do. Like landscaping, working in the hotels (tourism industry) as maids, laundry attendants, etc. What's going to happen to the "richie rich" when they can't hire anyone to do the jobs that they don't want to do? And no, I DON'T feel sorry for entitled folks.

I just saw something on the news a few nights ago about a disease that is wiping out the orange crops. Mix that with the lack of workers, and the damage to the trees from the hurricanes, get ready to pay ridiculous amounts for citrus.

So everyone here that is against this bill is for illegals being in the country? No. Sometimes we are just against silly, stupid, cynical, simplistic, self-serving "laws" from the worst of our politicians aiming to get support from the worst of our people, no matter who all gets hurt by them. The only reason DeSantis is passing stuff like this is because he is ramping up for a presidential run. He doesn't care at all about anything else other than his own image and ambition, really. Just like Trump, McCarthy, Greene, and so many others. There are ways to fix problems. Ways that would both work and make sense. Good luck finding any Republican nowadays who cares about either of those things.

Anyone can be smarter than Trump a potato is smarter than Trump. I don't know if I buy that DeSantis is the evil super genius people think he is considering his move against Disney.
It makes him look good to a bunch of idiots but we all know who actually runs the country and installs the president. He'd really get his ass whooped on the national stage if he keeps trying to bite the hands that feed him.
If he can figure out how to control himself and be choosier in how he wields and directs the idiocy then I would say he's a bigger threat than Trump.
Otherwise he's just another loose cannon and NOBODY can be a looser cannon than Trump. DeSantis would lose trying to play on that field.

Yeeesss sir. Somebody gotta pick my oranges. Sounds awful racist to me Don’t be obtuse. Illegal immigrants do the shit work because they accept getting paid subpar wages, living piled by the dozens into shit shacks and working without any of the OSHA and Dept of Labor protections because American works won’t. Heard about the kids cleaning the meat packaging houses out west? Wonder where so many underage sex workers come from? They don’t dare protest or ask for decent wages because their employers will call ICE on them if they do. It’s a shitty system and the dirty truth of it is the businesses that make money off this cheap labor pool lobby politicians to keep things just the way they are. DI Santos won’t get in trouble from the immigrants for forcing them out of Florida- it’s businesses that will be after him. Also, by the way, look up how Trump underpaid Polish laborers to construct Trump tower and when they sued him for the pay they were owed he called ICE and had them deported- it’s a long-standing GOP business man trick to screw over immigrants.

I think DeSantis has already made some international mistakes if late night comics are reporting the jist of it. He allegedly annoyed Lloyd's of London reps and some countrie's leadership as well ... I think. Apparently he couldn''t stay focused and awake when he spoke to the Lloyds representatives. More than a year to go before the 2024 GA election but probably less than a year for the start of primary season.

This looks interesting. Might get some park goers on Disney's side versus w/DeSantis. www.msn.com/en-us/travel/news/disney-world-announces-massive-ticket-price-decrease-will-rival-six-flags/ar-AA1bdzC6?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=6ec88de4170f430e85fc217411ad0f7f&ei=8Disney CEO Bob Iger recently divulged that he believed the company was forcing Guests to spend too much money in the Parks. He said that he believes the theme parks should be accessible, and that’s certainly not what they’ve become over the last several years. However, if you’re willing to plan a trip to Disney World in the near future, we’ve got good news for you.
Disney announced today that it is offering a special summer deal for Guests, which will include a 4-Day, 4-Park Magic Ticket for $99.00 per day ($396.00 plus tax) beginning May 23, 2023. No theme park reservations are needed for this deal, and you’ll be able to enter all four theme parks– Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios– on four separate days.
In addition, Florida residents can take advantage of a deal on Summer Magic Tickets that are just $58.00 per day ($229.00 plux tax) for four days. With this ticket, advance theme park reservations are required and are subject to availability.

who said illegal aliens have to be non white? Assuming they aren't white is pretty racist. you are saying the majority are non white? Nice try you said what you said. You do realize that the majority of farmers, meat packers, poultry raising...and all the other agricultural entities generally vote GOP, right? I'm talking about the owners, NOT the workers or even middle management. They don't want anything to change...it will cost them more & reduce their profits. And how do I know this?...well, I live in the biggest ($$$ wise) agricultural county in Ga....not that far from the Fl. line, only about 70 mi. from Tallahassee.

It’s our dirty little secret as a nation that while on one hand we want to stop people from coming into this country illegally, on the other hand we know that people that come and stay here illegally help keep things moving in certain sectors regarding employment.
What I am about to say is not fact, it’s just what I’ve observed over the 20+ years at my job, which is manual labor. For the first 10 plus years I worked there, there was literally only ONE white woman that did the same work as me, in a facility that employed several hundred people, and at least 100 people that do the same work I do. There were less than 10 white men. After that white lady retired, for several years, there were no white ladies doing the work I do, until a few years ago, when one transferred here from out of state. There are still less than 10 white men that do the same job.
The department that does housekeeping type work in our building, there is 1 white woman, and I think maybe 2 white men, I’ll say 5 though. That’s out of dozens of employees working in that department.
The department that maintains and repairs our machines and the building, I want to say there are more white men than minorities working in that department, but to try to be fair, I’ll say it’s something like 50/50.
All of that to say, from what I can discern at my place of employment, white people aren’t eager to work certain types of jobs even if the pay is decent, at least for where I live. I am pretty sure that means most white people (and brown and black people that are citizens, TBH) aren’t trying to work in hot ass fields fooling with crops and such. So who does that kind of work? People that don’t have many choices besides that, to try to make an honest living.
So imo, whether it’s right or wrong, and I do feel like it’s wrong to exploit people that come here trying to make a better life for themselves and their families, if we have the balls to just be honest, illegal immigrants do play an important role in how things work in this country. If we want to get upset about it, let’s get upset with the employers that take advantage of them. If it wasn’t so easy to find “jobs” despite being here illegally, maybe more immigrants would make sure to come here the “right” way. Why “sneak” into a country if you already know nobody will hire you if you haven’t gone through the proper channels to be here? I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I believe that if you really want to solve a problem, you need to dig down to the roots of the problem and start there. And to me, one of the roots of the illegal immigration problem is that employers will let them work for them, regardless of their immigration status.
But that’s just me and how I think. And I’ve never said I’m always right about what I think and say.

So everyone here that is against this bill is for illegals being in the country? People aren't illegal, they're human. They may be undocumented, but many of them aren't. They are also doing the work that nobody else wants to do. Are you going to go pick fruit for $0.40 per barrel? Are you going to clean hotel rooms? I'm not. I make way more money sitting on my ass in the air conditioned house. We need them. You don't see Americans rushing to fill the "stolen" job openings. Kinda shows the hypocrisy of people who think the way you do, huh?
