*DGS started a new plan year for health insurance, so I need to add to this account. I believe it is $2,000 deductible and $6,000 max OOP. He hit the previous plan year's max OOP with a pricey piece of durable medical equipment that was delivered just under the wire. So I need to start adding to this account.

Monthly update 7/7/23 update Azucena $48,197 of $50,000 goal (96%)Going on 10 day vacation starting this weekend. Part of it involves work conf with half day mtgs in Gatlinburg. Trying to convince myself to loosen the purse strings and that it's okay to spend $40-60/person on touristy tickets on top of all the meal spending.

They just don't make much and then don't budget it well. I feel like I'm paying it fwd from times when my fav aunt made opportunities available to me that my folks couldn't afford. Plus, gives DD14 a roaming buddy since they're old enough to have a little freedom as a pair.

The cousin I was treating is 22 and has a job. LOL But, he's just starting out and trying to save up for a house, I could tell he was going to pass on a $200 train ride and his mom (my cousin) wasn't going to pony up the funds for him, so I just booked him with my two kids and told him he not to worry about it. He had such a good time and was so awestruck with that excursion. Worth every penny.
eta: I can spend with the best of them under the right circumstances.

We use US Bank. Savings acct still stuck at 0.02% while there's a splashy add on their front page about money market at 4.5% with $25k min. Delegated switching it DH, was hoping they could move it with a quick conversation but of course not. And he couldn't complete it bc we are both on acct.
Going to do it all online and keep the original account open and use it for babysitting money that Dd14 is beginning to save. I simplified my life by just having one savings acct for each kid that we into along with when we have them put half of bday money, allowance and earnings.
Talked to dd14 about the mixed money and told her I'd just call her portion $500 and split the account going fwd. She said that was fair. She's starting to think of car and college savings.

Update Debthaven: 19 July 2023: 21,000 euros (Plus 10K saved for/spent on paint and shutters)seriousthistime or azucena or anyone else, does this seem right? So I paid the latest bill from the contractor, and BOOM! There goes 10K! I need to set a new goal for the rest of 2023. I work very little in July + Aug. I don't get paid for Sept until late Oct. I'll be working the same amount in fall semester as I did in spring semester. I also have to pay my share of this year's summer vacation. So maybe 25K by the end of the year? I'm pondering it.

I guess I've pondered enough. I can always readjust my new end-of-year goal.

That's great news about the medical expenses seriousthistime . Question: do you people redo your table, or just copy/paste/edit? I tried to copy/paste/edit, but the formatting changed so I had to redo it. It could be because I'm on a Mac.

I'm on a Mac too.
I don't copy/paste/edit. Instead I quote my most recent post, edit as needed, and take out the "quote" direction by going into BBCode. Then I switch back to Visual, make sure it looks ok, and then post it.
When you quote, there are a couple of buttons under the lower left of the box: Visual and BBCode. Click on BBCode. At the top and bottom are codes to indicate that text is quoted. To remove the quote box in the Visual post, you have to delete that code.
To make it easier to find and remove, I set up my tables with a header (mine is Update) and place that a few spaces down from the top line. Also at the bottom I space down a few lines before posting my update. Adding a few spacing lines at top and bottom sort of sets out the code from the rest of the post. I do this once and don't need to add extra spacing with each quoted post.
I have NOT had any luck with adding columns or lines to a table. I can do it, but the table format gets messed up.

Pleased I could make this deposit for September. I HOPE I can go back and start chipping away at deposits I didn't make for past months. I have a pricey kitchen remodel coming up in the next few months. I have the funds squirreled away in a money market account that I don't track on this thread. Still, it will be painful to take the money out of savings.

It was painful when I took the money from my money market for the shower. I enjoy the shower so it was worth it.

7/7/23 update Azucena $48,197 of $50,000 goal (96%)Going on 10 day vacation starting this weekend. Part of it involves work conf with half day mtgs in Gatlinburg. Trying to convince myself to loosen the purse strings and that it's okay to spend $40-60/person on touristy tickets on top of all the meal spending. Slipped back a bit. Since 7/7 we've had two car repairs, vacation spending and appliance replacement. But, I also haven't been holding the purse strings tightly enough based on the credit card balance that I paid off for the month. Too much money is being spent on wants without a lot of thought. Just this week I planned two more long weekend trips for the year and bought some more theater tickets. No regrets but also just hitting order on amazon too often. I caught back up on my budgeting wkbk and projected out the paychecks and key bills for the rest of the year. I'm going to increase my savings goal to $65,000. This is basically 50,000/75% since we are 75% of the way through the year. Might be a bit of a stretch but being so close to our goal early in the year due to my unusually large bonus has made room for complacency. Note that goes along with my goal of cash flowing college. We won't get fin aid and with all the anxiety in my household, we talk openly about not killing our mental health chasing tons of merit. Good grades and decent test scores could give both girls a few grand and then we will choose our colleges with budget in mind. DD15 is a sophomore now so the clock is ticking! 9/1/23 update Azucena $47,117 of $50,000 current goal (94%) 9/1/23 update Azucena $47,117 of $65,000 goal (72%)I want to be candid that this goal is crazy for a lot of budgets. I'm trying to be a good steward of what God has provided to our family. I'm proud of each and every WIR saver on here. Keep up the good work as we head into 4Q.

My savings is on hold. I didn't earn anything above my pension for August, and I have an unexpected trip in Sept to pay for, as well as unexpected dental work.
I'm hoping to cash-flow those items rather than use my savings, so I doubt I'll reach my 25K goal this year.
This also means I'll take on one or two more professor classes if possible.

Frankly, no. But as a low earner with a small pension, the extra money is really welcome. This will be my 2nd semester working post retirement. I'll be doing 15h 14h/week at most (instead of 22-24h), and only two days at school. Plus my regular classes end on 21 Nov. I'm hoping to cut down again in Jan.

Update! Vehicle | Goal | Saved so far | Percent of Goal | 401k | 30,000 | 11,825 | 39% | SepIRA | 5,250 | 5,250 | 100% | HSA | 4,850 | 1,925 | 39% | IBonds | 10,000* | 12,500 | 125% | treasuries | 10,000* | 0 | 0% | taxable | 5,000 | 1,000 | 20% | Total | 65,100* | 32,500 | 50% |
Looks like my last update was in early June so a full quarter..... I am on track with maxing my 401k and hsa - those are on auto pilot with payroll, but to provide numbers I'd need to log into work computer for pay stub and not doing that! Let's just say I am on track so far! 8 more paychecks to go.....so about 71% if even......401k maybe a little less as I am making up a bit in last 6 months as opposed to first 6. SepIRA and Ibonds were already done for the year. There has been no further progress on other goals. treasuries is negative as bills mature they have been eaten up with bills, so far 1k. nothing further to taxable, and that will likely be the case for the rest of the year. Got into a bit of credit card debt with a vacation and some pricy vet bills (vacay was about 3k, vet 3.5k) and I am expecting it may take the rest of the year to clear that up, and then it is xmas times! ok - going to estimate 73% for HSA as employer kicked in 300 start of year, and 69% done for 401k as contributions were a little less than first 5/6 months Vehicle | Goal | Saved so far | Percent of Goal | 401k | 30,000 | 20,700 20450 | 69% 68% | SepIRA | 5,250 | 5,250 | 100% | HSA | 4,850 | 3540 3450 | 73% 71% | IBonds | 10,000* | 12,500 | 125% | treasuries | 10,000* | -1000 | -10% | taxable | 5,000 | 1,000 | 20% | Total | 65,100* | 41,990 41,650 | 65% 64% |
so about 65% done, with 71% of paychecks.... Had no RI, Inc. money over the summer as one client cut back. Should have a few smaller project in the fall, so hopefully that will help out. ETA: wanted something else off my pay stubs for my number crunching, so updated with actually numberrs YTD.

I just scrutinized the automated bills remaining to be paid this month and am glad to be able to catch up on a deposit I wasn't able to make at the time. I crossed April off the list.
