It's still not enough to live on. Why would someone do that work when Target is paying something like $20/hour minimum and other employers are paying more. Why work fast food for that amount of money and dealing with entitled people who now are starting literal fist fights and destroying property over a stupid cheeseburger? Want to know something really disgusting? Our deputies are making 7.25/hr. Commissioners finally voted to give them some kind of COL raise because we keep losing deputies and jail personnel since they can't afford to raise families on that. Dispatch is paid a crappy wage too. That's amazingly awful.

Dispatch is paid a crappy wage too. It really is disgusting. Around here the rookie patrol officer makes around $40K per year. That's practically nothing if you have kids. Why risk getting shot for that kind of money?! You can make double that easy working a desk job. When you pay like that you don't get the best candidates and then you end up with people who will take the crappy pay in order to be legally allowed to bully people and we have a God complex. I don’t really understand why some of the most important jobs imo, don’t pay well. Some do, like doctors and nurses, but they often get into massive amounts of debt to have those careers. You couldn’t pay me enough to be a teacher or a police officer. The way my nerves are set up, I can’t deal with Little Johnny’s bad ass and I don’t have the patience for Big Johnny’s stupid ass testing me because he thinks he’s above the law. I worked for a bank before I got my current job a hundred years ago. I worked behind the scenes, in a secure operations building. I very clearly remember looking at job postings for bank tellers and they made even less money than I did. And they had to wear “professional” type clothing, when I could wear jeans and t-shirts everyday…. clothes that needed no special care or to be dry cleaned. They were responsible for huge amounts of money, and could get a gun shoved in their face on any given day, just because they came to work that day and their branch got robbed. Which was happening fairly often back then. A lot of things about how people are paid for the jobs they do just doesn’t make sense to me.

Thats interesting. The McDonalds and Wendys dining room by my work is open. Just 4 miles further down the road. So after you saw the line at Wendy's and then at your first stop at a McDonald's, why didn't you just go to the McDonald's or Wendy's by your workplace just four miles away . But no. You went to yet another McDonald's whose dining room was closed like the rest. The last stop was just a few blocks from my house and darn it I wanted a burger, fries and a ice cream . I was just tired and didn't want a pbj sandwich and drive another 4 miles down the road to the other restaurants. All 3 of these were in basically a straight line to my house. I just wanted to get home and unwind.

We eventually found a bathroom on all of our trips but it was more difficult than necessary. I don't consider I-95 to be rural or anything. Only an issue in Virginia.
