LOL.. I think this is great. No good deed goes unpunished. Sanctuary cities Mayor Adams and Mayor Bowser crying that illegals or "asylum seekers" for the political correct crowd are now overloading their social services. Those seeking "asylum" don't have to worry about getting sent back. They want the Feds to help with money to prop up their budget. I'm sure other sanctuary cities are having the same problem. Why don't they turn their ire towards the Biden administration to tighten the southern border?

first of all, it is "politically correct", not "political correct". second of all, nobody calls them asylum seekers unless they are seeking asylum. the most common term is undocumented immigrants. if you care. and again, for i think at least the fifth time, there is no border crisis. net migration has been declining for 20 years. so what should we be complaining about, given that fact? candidly, i think we should be complaining about the LACK OF IMMIGRANT LABOR. it is going to have major consequences for US businesses, if it is not already.

Is it that hard to remember that most of the undocumented are actually people that overstay on their Visas not people coming in from a specific border?

So according to Mayor Adams part of the problem is governors sending people on busses to them. So not a result of good deeds but perhaps malicious compliance from states in the south.
"Currently, New York City is experiencing a marked increase in the number of asylum seekers who are arriving from Latin America and other regions. In some instances, families are arriving on buses sent by the Texas and Arizona governments, while in other cases, it appears that individuals are being sent by the federal government," Adams said in a statement, adding that more than 2,800 asylum seekers had entered the shelter system in recent weeks.
From the OP's first referenced article.

From the OP's first referenced article. All I can say if they weren't sanctuary cities then maybe Texas and Arizona and the Feds wouldn't send them there. It's a brilliant idea to send them there from the border states. Let them get a taste of the problem of the border towns. Once the illegals, oops I mean undocumented immigrants get there they don't have to worry about being deported.

Once the illegals, oops I mean undocumented immigrants get there they don't have to worry about being deported. illegals is technically untrue. they are not illegal until you know their immigration status. even undocumented is technically untrue: they could be here on a work visa. they could be seeking asylum. they could be here on an expired visa. they could be truly undocumented, like DACA kids. now, if you simply don't care what someone's immigration status is, and you are not concerned with lumping in people who are here legally with those that are not, then you go right ahead and be UN-PC. but keep in mind that this means that you are insulting a fair number of people, and behaving like a bigot. if that is OK with you, then go right ahead. you probably won't get your ass kicked. probably.

you should also be aware that "sanctuary cities" don't protect people that are in the US illegally. that is a misperception brought on by right wing media.
if you are interested, i will explain to you what the term means. or you can go on misusing it, just like you are misusing the term "illegals". you seem to think it is funny to do so, and i would not want to spoil your fun.

Personally, I think it is really sad how Republicans use these people to keep the country divided. You started out this thread with LOL. Think it is funny? You think the greatest country on the face of the earth cannot come up with a solution. There was one comment in your linked article: PUT THE OWNERS OF THE CORPORATIONS WHO ARE HIRING THEM IN JAIL I see it all the time at a trailer manufacturer in Texarkanna that we sell steel to...somehow, the owners are ALWAYS alerted when ICE is going to come and call us to delay shipments for a few days. wink/wink/nod/nod, right? Or I guess we could build a wall and Mexico could pay for it.

Rip-how do you feel about having to clean your own soiled bed pans when you're in the nursing home because there are not enough unskilled laborers to do the most basic duties in the homes. It's those migrants seeking asylum who often fill those jobs.

Hey Rip - make sure you watch tonight's House Select Committee hearings on the January 6 Attack on TV. Plenty of TV channels will be covering it. Probably not Fox though.
It begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time/Catskill Mountains hollow time.

Ok, I'll play. Please enlighten me and others on sanctuary cities purpose. And the difference between legal and illegal. i already addressed the term "illegal" in one of my previous posts (#5). what "sanctuary" means is that local police won't turn over CRIME VICTIMS OR WITNESSES to the INS. this has an important law enforcement function. it allows police to prosecute serious crimes of OTHER "illegals" without witnesses fearing that they will be deported for coming forward. it does NOT mean that police or anyone else will INTERFERE in the activities of the INS, nor undermine their mission in any way, as you have repeatedly implied. Trump and others have expressed great concern over gangs like MS-13. part of the effort to halt their activities in the US is getting intelligence from Nicaraguans. undocumented persons are uniquely able to provide intelligence, because they are essentially trusted by MS-13. without that intelligence, law enforcement efforts are greatly diminished. i don't expect you to change your understanding based on this. i have told you many things in the past, and you keep repeating the same falsehoods. but you asked, so i mentioned it. perhaps you will do better this time.

Every restaurant and warehouse is whining they can't get low paid workers. We have a need, they have a need - win, win.

Its really amazing now tracking certain misinformation that plays on Fox and similar channels. Things like Nancy Pelosi being in charge of the Capitol police and similar. Its very informative to see what made up stuff some will cling to instead of acknowledging Trump knew people had weapons at his pre Capitol storming rile up session. I bet Fox rarely talks about how Pence could have been killed for something he could not legally do, simply because Trump does not care about legality or the Constitution.

You'll be hard pressed to get any info from Fox News, watched it this morning. They are all concerned about President Biden having covid, he didn't wear a mask on his trip (wait what? he should have worn a mask? from fox news?) It's now 40 minutes into the news hour...not a word. Checked the website too, didn't see anything. But if I were you, I wouldn't really want to hear facts about J6 either. I'd be ashamed to call myself an American if I had voted for and supported Trump and saw what he was capable of doing.

I think what pissed me off the most was Trumps final word to his dining room minion as he went upstairs on 1/6 - ‘Pence Betrayed me.’ Not I hope no one got seriously injured. Not I hope the Capital wasn’t damaged too much. It’s always about him. And how he’s been horribly wronged.

NOTE: i am glad he was ineffective. his ideas were horrendous.
