Say goodbye to Griswold vs Connecticut then. Hope everyone enjoyed being able to control fertility. At least the domestic supply of infants will be robust. I've had conversations with people and they don't understand when I say that in some aspects that in the US a lot of adoptions have pretty much become legalized human trafficking. Alito writing that at least gives me something to point to - Supreme Court allowing abortion to become illegal so we can have more domestic adoptions.

Last Sunday I saw on the news those women doing a SCOTUS protest in that Calif church wearing red hand maidens robes. I've not seen the movie so I don't know what its about but I think they could have had a better impact if they had done this in a Muslim mosque. I heard the Afghan Taliban now says all women have to completely cover up. Where's the women's rights group standing up for these oppressed women. Picket at the Muslim Mosques.

Well rip, there doesn’t seem to be any Taliban here in America. So feel free to relax and accept women that aren’t completely covered. Your team already wasted 6 trillion ‘over there’.

Nice try, Rip. Not that you would but it would behoove you to read the Handmaid's Tale which is where the red clothing you mentioned is from. The book just might make yiu think for once. Also nice try in your attempt to smear Muslims. Your ignorance of the Mulsim religion and its followers is quite apparent as not all nor do most Muslim women wear head to toe coverings as now required in Afghanistan. A Muslim woman could walk right passed you on the street and you would not know she is Muslim as she would be wearing the same women's clothing as most American women of all faiths wear.

Perfect example of the low information voter that Trump loves.

Is this your thinking or RW talking head opinion? Protesting the SCOTUS draft at a Mosque seems pretty stupid and worthless.

Handmaid's Tale author warns Supreme Court is making her nightmare vision a realityOn Friday, writing for The Atlantic, Canadian author Margaret Atwood — author of the patriarchal dystopia "The Handmaid's Tale" — said that the Supreme Court's impending decision to strike down Roe v. Wade creates the nightmarish world she was depicting. "In the fictional theocracy of Gilead, women had very few rights, as in 17th-century New England," wrote Atwood. "The Bible was cherry-picked, with the cherries being interpreted literally. Based on the reproductive arrangements in Genesis — specifically, those of the family of Jacob — the wives of high-ranking patriarchs could have female slaves, or 'handmaids,' and those wives could tell their husbands to have children by the handmaids and then claim the children as theirs." Atwood went on to reveal that she actually stopped writing the novel multiple times because she considered its premise to be too extreme to be taken seriously. "Silly me," she commented. "Theocratic dictatorships do not lie only in the distant past: There are a number of them on the planet today. What is to prevent the United States from becoming one of them? For instance: It is now the middle of 2022, and we have just been shown a leaked opinion of the Supreme Court of the United States that would overthrow settled law of 50 years on the grounds that abortion is not mentioned in the Constitution, and is not 'deeply rooted' in our 'history and tradition.'" This argument, noted Atwood, is only true because the original Constitution didn't mention women or protect women's rights in any form — not even being given the franchise until the 19th Amendment's passage in the early 20th century. "Women were nonpersons in U.S. law for a lot longer than they have been persons," wrote Atwood. "If we start overthrowing settled law using Justice Samuel Alito’s justifications, why not repeal votes for women?" Moreover, she noted, the time period Alito calls back to featured witch trials, where women were powerless to prove their innocence — something that would, in effect, come back with accusations of illegal abortions. "If Justice Alito wants you to be governed by the laws of the 17th century, you should take a close look at that century," Atwood concluded. "Is that when you want to live?" Handmaid's Tale author warns Supreme Court is making her nightmare vision a reality

I have no desire to watch or know about the Handmaid's Tale as I wonder if it has helped some men and people in power long for that world. I do not know the author's purpose in writing it.
I don't care what Alito wants. The important thing should be that most of us want to go forwards not backwards.

And I know of only one other poster here, DJ, that is aware of the dominion movement. It will spring from there when the moment comes.

Handsmaid Tale was a book I put on my kindle for my vacation a couple years ago...I think it was Halloween 2019. I barely got until the book because it made me want to throw up and cry. Which pretty much is the opposite of vacation.

Which pretty much is the opposite of vacation. it is ultimately kinda triumphant, but you have to suffer a lot to get through it.

Read this after reading The Handmaid's Tale around 2017 after I saw where our existing Republican government and its electe leaders could take us (and still are taking us with Republican states and their elected local, state and federal officials changing election laws, limiting our personal rights and so much more). It Can't Happen Here
