Does the in-kind distribution work for mutual funds too? I have no individual stocks in my tax-deferred accounts. So, for example, could I contact Vanguard and ask them to do an in-kind distribution of X shares of my Vanguard 500 index fund from my Vanguard IRA to my Vanguard taxable account? Yes. An "in-kind" distribution is just the transfer of an asset as-is rather than converting to cash. That can be individual stocks or mutual funds.

She's very well informed about everything retirement related. And most aspects of the topic are complicated.

I'm not doing anything different. Keep my contributions and investments in auto-pilot as before. Only thing is, my total investment hasn't changed in months, even though I've been plugging the over 1k a month. Oh, well. It could be worse. It could be going down.

I bought my first individual stocks in my TFSA. Amazon and Tesla. I bought before the Amazon split was announced. That was kind of thrilling. Otherwise I'm keeping up with my index fund contributions. I'm really counting on you being right about the excitement of the wave going up. You guys really have no appreciation of just how nerve wracking this is for me.

Gas/diesel is starting to cut into other budget line items. I'm now deferring some wants.

The only part of my July Toronto trip I am not looking forward to is the price of gas.

I worked this weekend. There were sure a lot of people driving when I went to get lunch, in spite of all the complaints about gas prices

H. filled just 6 gallons of gas today. He expected to get 50 cents a gallon off with citicard from our rewards but didn't. My hybrid gets such better mpgs but he won't drive it.

Could be tomorrow tomorrow, next week, or any day from now till 2035. if you keep buying, someday it will likely pay off......but individual stocks are risky. I'm heavy into tesla, but I know there are no guantees....but the general market will generally go up, but even there no guarantees...

Only thing I'm changing is buying some stocks that I was waiting to go low. Picked up some Amazon. Picking up cruise stocks since they give obc and I stupidly only picked up enough for one in 2020.

Mad money under Reagan and trump, lost under this clown I will stick with republicans If you made money under Reagan you must have made a fortune under Clinton whose market returns far outperformed everyone else. Obama slightly outperformed Reagan as well so you must have done well there too. Trump trailed all of those by a significant amount, while you likely did lose quite a bit under George W. Bush. The facts remain the facts, no matter how much you try to cherry-pick or disregard them completely.

I keep thinking about that; once we're in an upward trend again, I will be happy I kept saving and investing during the downturn.

adding - looks like peak was first week of January so we are only 5 months.
I think the average is 18 months from peak to trough so we likely have a ways to go. I'm starting to formulate my plan based on at least one more year like this.
