Just got back from a Costco run. TD went with me to haul things, which was good. Also picked up a rotisserie chicken and their mac and cheese for dinner tonight. I went looking for a large container of red pepper flakes and struck out. After going through about a jar/mo, I need to get a bigger size. The chili I made earlier and the stir fry last night both used up half a jar. Pizza a couple times and that’s the rest! Also struck out on getting any lamb. World cruise friends just got back from Italy last week. We are meeting up and comparing trips. They did a land tour of Italy and a cruise of the Adriatic while we were in the far east. They then leave for South Africa about a week before we leave for Ireland. We went there last time, guess it’s our turn to host. Just need to figure out what to do. We had to cancel out right before we both left, where my game plan was a big ole pot of seafood chowder. It’s a little too warm for that now. Check out United Grocers -Cash & Carry. There are multiple around and they have the same sizing or bigger than Costco. You probably need a 5lb container (PC5) instead of a 1lb container (PC1) depending on volume. You don't need a membership per se you just don't get the business price. It's used mainly by restaurant and food companies just like Restaurant Depot. But they are open to the public.

I am very excited to have STEPS! The sliding door to nowhere now officially is an exit (that won't break your leg). Also, the Robin parents have returned and built a new nest under the deck. I told them they could have that one, but none on the lights anymore (once they're installed).
Nice!

I think it's even cheaper than here. We have houses at that price point of similar size with big yards and garages, but they are unlikely to have a lot of updates. The inventory is also really low. If I do a 10 mile radius map of work there are only 32 houses for sale ranging from 99K to 1.75M.

I did end up bringing Boy outside and it is raining hard enough that he is content staying in the garage. So hopefully he is learning to just relax with me, like Newbie does when I tell her to. I’m not really counting on it though lol. I really wish I had a covered outdoor space to sit in when it’s raining. I didn’t have that at my other house either, and I use to sit in the garage with the door up sometimes there too, to watch the rain and soak up the sounds of it. Several rainy and gloomy days in a row, is not good for my mental health because I NEED sunshine, but I can appreciate an occasional rainy day, and the sounds of normal thunderstorms are good sleeping sounds for me. “Normal”, as in not resulting in tornado watches and warnings, which is not unusual where I live. Could you get a mesh Garage door screen? They piggy back off your G-door runners. They are spendy and it would be a 2+ person job, but I have several marked for later in my Azn wish list. You would have a covered space and not have to worry about bugs with it down. I had no idea such a thing existed! I had to Google it and see lol. I love that idea! Thank you!

I am very happy and surprised to say I got my new Passport in the mail yesterday. I was expecting at least 2 months and I got it in less than 2 weeks! - Originally, I thought I messed up and had to fix some paperwork but nope, new Passport.

But in general they’re all really nice and making me depressed. Prices and especially taxes are so low compared to NJ. I'm not depressed about it because I'm in a really good situation and will never sell and move, but I get it about the prices. Even putting a 1 in front of these would not get you to the average in my neighborhood. And I doubt there is anything one could buy for under a million.

I’m depressed about cheap prices and taxes cause young family members , young people in general, are desperate to think about ever buying a house or even townhouse or condo in NJ or NY (commuting distance to Manhattan)

You aren't kidding! That's a lot of house for the $$. Good storage, great patio and deck, fenced, lots of counter space and cabinets. I sent it to T1 and her response was "WTF do you need that much house for?!" Because I can. Plus your parents nd doesn't 1 of the things move home again every now and then?

It's like a blast furnace outside. 111 degrees F with the humidex. I went on the balcony to water the plants and I couldn't breathe. The city is calling everyone and leaving messages about how not to die, and to please look in on your elderly neighbours.

Low 90s for today and it feels like it has been humid for days. Do be safe. I am working on making sure my hydration is better given all the 90 plus degree days we have here is a row.

You guys are gonna know so much you never wanted to know about KC real estate by the end of the summer. I already know too much. Not because of you but work related. The Elizabeth ave house looks nice from the pics and I like how they took took pics with and without furniture. The flooring is a little odd, but adding furniture and rugs would offset that. I LOVE the Bristow house (because finished basement!), except I did not see pics of the backyard except the area coming off the deck in which it looks very sloped. The front looks nice annd level but from the deck pics t looks like a serious slope.

Both houses were a no. Whoever takes these pictures of these houses is really good at making small spaces look enormous.

Andi I couldn’t live with that aggressively ‘striped’ gray floor at the Elizabeth house. But in general they’re all really nice and making me depressed. Prices and especially taxes are so low compared to NJ. I feel you. I look at all those houses and marvel at how cheap they are. Then again, four of the top ten most impossible to afford cities in the entire world (based on house prices and median income) are in California. And the highest ranked of those four, coming in at fourth place, is just across the street from me. We come in after Hong Kong, Sydney, and Vancouver - not a list I need to be on IMO yet here I am...

Watching DH attempt to assemble the cat tree. I have already had to intervene twice since I got home. He decided not to read the instructions and just start building DH took Kiddo to swim lessons this morning and then to the school for her gifted assessment. Today's swim lesson went very well according to what DH told me. It sounds like we have turned the corner so hopefully the remaining 2 weeks of lessons will be smooth sailing. Since DH had kid duty handled, I took advantage of having the day off and got a haircut and a trip to the nail salon. If I feel like I can stop supervising this cat tree assembly, I have big plans to soak in the bathtub with Epsom salts followed by a nap before I have to start dinner.

Years ago, when DH was watching a neighbor attempt to put together a swing set, DH went over to help. The guy didn't read ANY of the instructions, but DH took the time to read them, and helped get it put together. Those kids are still alive today, probably thanks in part to my DH.

I found a nice, big, beautifully kept "house" about 10 miles North of us, sort of out in the sticks but the only bad thing is it's on a main road. It used to be used as adult foster care home, and is set up as 3 separate living areas in one big, beautifully landscaped house. It's officlally going on the market soon, and I just might need to go peek at it. They even have raised bed gardens on the property. Dang! I've always wanted a house I could "age well" in...

My lilac tree is properly trimmed now and looks very nice.
I like when people follow through and do a good job. These guys did both. I told them I will hire them to plant some bulbs in the fall. so
I got the reminder text and I see the surgeon on Monday. I have lots of questions.
I also ordered a prescription that said it would be ready tomorrow afternoon. It is ready now, but it wasn't ready while I was in town. My out of pocket is 91 cents. So tomorrow I will drive back to town to pick it up.

I'm back home for the night, CT scan is all set. it's funny, I texted my mom while I was in the waiting room and called on my drive home - I've spent the majority of my life trying to avoid that hospital, and today I survived my first adventure there. when I was a kid, that place was where people didn't come home from. you could have a splinter and come back with a major infection or something else you picked up along the way at the very least. one of my cousins broke an arm or leg (I can't remember after so much time) and whatever adult was sober that vacation day went out of their way to drive the kid out to Plymouth as the next closest hospital. you just didn't go to this one. anyway, it is now affiliated with the medical group that includes the Urgent Care site and the ortho I saw on Monday. IRT that Plymouth hospital though.....that one may be the one to avoid at all costs these days. yesterday, they effed up, badly. on day 1 of a heat wave, there's PD/FD/civilian search parties scouring the general downtown and north area for this older man with memory issues and zero ID/money. in the various update posts I've seen since yesterday, there's been sprinklings of comments about similar fuckups by the hospital in recent years. here was the first post in a town page from the guy's son.... I really hope they find him okay, and soon.

You might remember that DH and I missed a flight the weekend before last due to poor communication between the two of us. Now, we do not have appropriate clothing for a retirement event at the conference we’re on our way too due to poor communication between us. Fortunately, we’ve not driven past the outlet stores yet, so we will stop there to grab something.

How can that even be legal? oh, that's been most of the short comments as well. whatever outcome of the search, I hope the family follows up with a lawsuit to investigate how this happened in the first place!
