I slept in a little, not really getting up and moving til almost 9am. I'm currently on the deck with the news streaming on my phone. it's already 76 degrees out at barely 10am, and expected to hit the mid-90s today through Friday. I might go check out the pool up the street at the Y later on, since it's part of my membership I'm not using very much these days lol...

Taking dd15, bonus teen, and five other theater teens on long weekend to airbnb about an hour away. Leaving this afternoon. Been looking fwd to it, just need to get my butt out of bed - finish laundry, pack, knock off at least one lingering work project and finally stop procrastinating doing the shitload of online paperwork to enroll dd11 at her new school. Daisy - wish I were as brave as you are. I've been passive aggressively putting off enrollment to make the point that 99% of the kid jobs land in my lap. Even after my text earlier in the week, husband has continued to ignore the elephant in the room. Hoping getting away clears my head. Should have time for some journaling. I am just in a different boat now. Though they still need us for some things, our kids are launched. Also, my DH has a TBI - so things are very literal with him, passive aggressive has zero effect on him and just ends up with me being even more p*ssed off. Hope your time away helps, and your DH gets his stuff together and you come home to a new where all the laundry and chores are already done. We need to find Miss Rigby's wand!

It's growing warm in our house with the 90s we've got. Our old house usually holds temps for a few days, so we got it cooled down as much as we could in advance by opening windows at night early this week. Still not bad downstairs. The lakes usually keep the area cooler, we tend to average only four 90 degree days per year. We are expected to get 4 just this week, and it's not even technically summer yet! Lots of houses like ours don't have AC. The library DOES have AC, so we are letting people know we are an informal cooling center. I put the letter board sign out front to catch passersby, and posted on FB where other community groups shared the message. Very kind of you. Does anyone ever come, to col off?

Alarm system woke me up at 4 am because it could not connect to the wi-fi. I'm now short of sleep and bitchier than ever but managed not to scream at the alarm company rep or AT&T which is having an outage locally. DH is still alive too

It's cooler and rainy today.
The library in town is a cooling center. They get people who don't have a/c but do have kids. The library has stuff going on that the kids can do so it works out for them.
There was a power outage in various parts of that town yesterday. Most likely due to the excessive heat. My meals place was cooking and their power was off for 45 minutes. She put it in an Instagram story. The worst part was no a/c. If the power had not come back on quickly, some food might have spoiled.
She was cooking mushroom soup in an earlier video. I bought some of that.
I hired a guy to come trim my lilac tree. He gave me a time for late afternoon/early evening. But the afternoon is supposed to have a lot of thunderstorms. I understand they can't trim the lilac tree in a thunderstorm. I don't want someone hit by lightning. He hasn't canceled and said he will say what kind of weather the day brings. If not today, he can come tomorrow.
The other people totally gaslighted me. Would never give me a price and get postponing. Then quit responding. You don't get business that way.
I did warn the guy about my nose.
My coffee shop people are great during the week. The woman at the meals place is bringing the food to my car. She totally gets it as she had skin cancer over the winter. She told me last week it was going to get ugly and she was right.

Fell asleep around 11 and woke just after midnight to pee. DH was in bed but awake. My brain decided it was the perfect time for a CTJ talk. Did not get everything resolved but did get my feelings out. Made it very clear that it will be a while before I can be vulnerable with him again, so he needs to decide if he wants to put in the work. I want the loving relationship back and if that is not in his plan one of us has to go. I have zero interest in being in a "roommate" situation - I would rather be on my own. Did I mention that it is going to be a long day? Comprehension level prior to coffee. Daisylu’s husband—out of spitefulness—wet the bed and was just laying it.

I was pleasantly surprised by a call from a Paul friend that I've known for many years. He is a photo journalist for the CBS affiliate in Des Moines and he has some pictures to send me.
He is on medical leave because he has prostate cancer.
Iowa has a very high cancer rate in part because of all the toxic waste the farmers put in the streams and rivers. DNR doesn't care because we are an agricultural state and whatever they do is fine.

I believe my husband’s exact words were “ I thought I raised her better than that.” nah, I'm with your kid. Stevie Nicks' voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me. I also can't stand James Taylor, I'm a bad Masshole lol.... 😉 DH hates James Taylor’s music. At this point in our almost two decades together, I play a game in my head to see how quickly he realizes a James Taylor song has come on he switches the channel. Our issue with DD not staying for the portion of the festival that was Stevie Nicks was DD (and her BF) were already there. Like, just stay for 15-30 minutes so you can say you’ve seen Stevie Nicks live.

Property taxes are cheaper too. $2629/year for that one.

I am very excited to have STEPS! The sliding door to nowhere now officially is an exit (that won't break your leg). Also, the Robin parents have returned and built a new nest under the deck. I told them they could have that one, but none on the lights anymore (once they're installed).

Did they angle the railing so you can open the window? Hard to tell from the picture.
It looks really good! Your project is making me think the deck could be my next project.

Property taxes are cheaper too. $2629/year for that one. Oh yeah. Wyandotte County, where I am looking is the highest taxed county of all 5 counties in KC. I should probably just look around in MO. It's cheaper to live there. I'm gonna ask the realtor if we can explore North Kansas City this weekend. It's the only area in MO I would consider. It's just hard taking the Dotte girl out of the Dotte.

On my couch playing on my Phone. Today, We are going to a portion of the coast that is a 5.5 hour drive. However, DH has decided he wants a quiet morning. That’s unusual for him, so while my anxiety says we have to get going, I’m patiently waiting.

I like this one even though the floor color is not my favorite. I’m not one to buy a fixer upper because I cannot fix up anything on my own. This one looks great on my phone screen.
However, and I’ll just keep being annoyingly repetitive, location location location is the most important thing to me.

Oh, I just realized DH is working. He’s texting with a board member. He’s now getting up off the couch. I wonder if we’re going to start our day.

Did they angle the railing so you can open the window? Hard to tell from the picture. It looks really good! Your project is making me think the deck could be my next project. Nope. It was "built per contract". He'll change it, but it would require ordering new rails for that corner and a hefty bill to do so as they should be done here before that stuff would arrive and they've already pushed out other customers due to adding the deck project last minute. I'm like forget it. My ex would fix it for free if I decide to later...but it will still require buying new rails for that corner. The whole angling thing isn't going to work with the one that's there like I thought as that rail is pre-formed to be attached to the step rail at a 90 degree angle. They have custom pieces though. Or have two new pieces that follow this path instead of angling.

You aren't kidding! That's a lot of house for the $$. Good storage, great patio and deck, fenced, lots of counter space and cabinets.

There would be a ton of paperwork to move to MO. All my licenses and car titles, etc. I would be extremely picky with MO houses. Plus the taxes are cheaper, but then we add in KC earnings tax on top of federal and MO. We'll see. It would be a PITA, but could be worth it for the right house.

I like the 2nd house better than the first one, but not where it's sitting. You have neighbors on top of you on all sides and no great area for the dogs.

Andi I couldn’t live with that aggressively ‘striped’ gray floor at the Elizabeth house.
But in general they’re all really nice and making me depressed. Prices and especially taxes are so low compared to NJ.

I did end up bringing Boy outside and it is raining hard enough that he is content staying in the garage. So hopefully he is learning to just relax with me, like Newbie does when I tell her to. I’m not really counting on it though lol. I really wish I had a covered outdoor space to sit in when it’s raining. I didn’t have that at my other house either, and I use to sit in the garage with the door up sometimes there too, to watch the rain and soak up the sounds of it. Several rainy and gloomy days in a row, is not good for my mental health because I NEED sunshine, but I can appreciate an occasional rainy day, and the sounds of normal thunderstorms are good sleeping sounds for me. “Normal”, as in not resulting in tornado watches and warnings, which is not unusual where I live. Could you get a mesh Garage door screen? They piggy back off your G-door runners. They are spendy and it would be a 2+ person job, but I have several marked for later in my Azn wish list. You would have a covered space and not have to worry about bugs with it down.

It might be because I'm in siding mode right now, but the only thing that bothered me about that house was the vinyl in back. I don't know if it was the lighting or it was just dirty, but it looked like it was coming up in spots and not in great shape. The brick in front is beautiful.
