I tried to donate a full, unopened package of nursing pads to a battered women's shelter here, and they didn't want them. I mean, they were brand new, and still wrapped in plastic. WTE? I figure because this particular shelter is run by a man (I still haven't figured that one out), he was probably clueless about what a woman with kids might be needing. Women’s shelters are often very short on space. I’ve seen them request no more clothing to be donated unless it’s new underwear. if you still have them, I suggest a Crisis Pregnancy Center or Facebook Buy Nothing group. I will set them on fire before I do a damned thing to support groups that prey on vulnerable pregnant people and pressure them to remain pregnant at any cost, when it is frequently directly counter to the pregnant person’s best interests. Bye Felicia.

I love my husband but my God I do not understand how he functions in modern society. I had them send documents for him to sign for his dad's 401(k) to my email account because his work email isn't allowing it through. I told him it was sent get into gmail and sign it. I got a call back saying he can't figure out how to get into my gmail. Seriously? I use his computer all the time I have never logged out all he has to do is go to Google and click on "gmail". It will take him right to what he needs. Abby knows how to do this. I wouldn't be shocked if Archie knows how to access gmail. I sent him step by step instructions because he is insisting it has to wait till I get home. No I am not taking on the burden of being your IT person. You can be a big boy and figure this out on your own. I'll probably still have to do it when I get home.

Just got back from taking the problem children to the vet. Harriet got her incision checked out. It’s scabby and itchy for her, so the vet alleviated that for her. Both needed shots, but we passed on getting Harriet’s until next month. They both need to be up to date since they will both be boarded at the end of summer when we go to my niece’s wedding.
Sheldon gets sooooo car sick and not sure there is anything we can do. He either pukes, poops or both. He did both today. He got a clean bill of health after getting vaccinated. For some reason, I thought he was 8 years old, turns out he’s 11.
Also had a discussion with the vet about bringing a dog across the border. It looks like the rules have changed, and there’s more paperwork involved. Gotta love bureaucracy.

Well every single job I have applied for to date is a bust. I think I might lick my wounds for a bit I am going nuts trying to look every day for postings. Maybe go weekly/biweekly on weekends to see what popped up unless things get even worse down here. We'll see they are probably thinking I am suitably humbled and humiliated right now and leave me alone for awhile. I just need to keep my head down and pretend I know my place. I do a quick scan twice a week or so at my place of employment. Once every 1-2 weeks I check other job sites for employers that are a part of the pension system. Once every 2 weeks I do an indeed search to see if I miss anything. So, I when I scan, if I see something that might fit the bill, I put the link in a word doc, along with the application deadline. I review that doc for due dates about once a week and then i re-read the job posting carefully, and then I weigh whether or not I should apply. It could be at second blush, the job is not a fit. Or maybe too much going on. (Believe or not, there are a few jobs I didn't apply for, but should have because timing is bad.) It works well for me.

OMG, I need a nap now. I just had an actual meal for lunch instead of a quick bite, and am remembering why I don't usually do that.

Just got back from my appointment with my sadistic hygienist and I'm booked for another crown this Summer. Also, I forgot my phone today and it's driving me bonkers. I keep worrying that one of the kids or the contractor are trying to reach me. I'm also 100% positive I'm going to miss a lawn mower deal popping up on Facebook Marketplace today. I think all major decisions have been made in regards to the stuff going on at my house, so hopefully I'm ok there.

Around here someone will claim any breast pump within the hour* of posting! * I follow how long things take to be claimed so I know how to group very popular items with those less wanted (I always gift "must take all") and while I have no baby items anymore it is just a habit I have a hard time breaking

We do have a local freecycle I might join…but again, takes almost as much bandwidth as complaining about having to get rid of them on YMAM

Or, alternatively, you could open a FB account that you use for one thing and one thing only: Buy Nothing. Set up another junk email that you link only to your FB account and use for nothing else.

So many people jump on something, but never pick up. I had several people jump all over some racks I was giving away. I finally said that they were on our porch, first to come gets them. After a couple online proddings, I just loaded them up and took them to Goodwill.

It is only on DM I give out the address. It gives them some skin in the game, and they do show up.

Question for all: If your spouse spent $1,000 on a hobby toy in September 2023 and now is giving it away to your landscaper tomorrow, how pissed would you be on a scale from 1 to 10? Reason, "I don't like it, I made a mistake." We don't need the effing $$ but that's just bad bs there. I've had buyers regret too, but usually on a $20 blouse. I'm picking my battles, but I am at defcon 5 here

They are doing panel interviews for the associate micro position right now. Wonder what fresh out of graduate school never worked a day in her life but is properly perky and fits the "vision" they are after will get the job? Or whatever random person in our overall department who kissed enough butt to our head director and he decided he wants that person in there. I've noticed a lot of people who have no qualifications getting hired for positions in the name of "expanding our knowledge base". I'm not bitter AT ALL.

Busy-ish day We got home from our San Diego trip at 10:30pm last night. DH had a follow up appointment for his vertebrae pain med injection. I picked up Bill the Dog from the pet resort. He was quite excited to see me, so that was nice. I had a massage, and it was glorious. We're having a few construction projects done at the house. The bathroom door is now officially done. I can now defecate in an official water closet with a door and DH can use the sink, shower, and closet. It's the little things. I've fertilized about a 1/3 of the plants I need to fertilize today. As it's the heat of the afternoon, I'll wait until evening to finish that. I need to get going on some paperwork stuff.

In ER with Jerseyguy. He fell and might have a broken wrist. Also doing CAT scan for pulmonary blood clots We’ve spent way too much time here over the last year I had an appointment with my surgeon today. His offices are in building next to hospital so convenient. He’s very pleased with my progress Thinking we may need to ask housekeeper to come back to help Jerseyguy. Prior she’s been using upstairs primary BR and bath. When she left I moved back, happy to be in my own bed with my W/I closet. I moved downstairs cause I wasn’t able to use stairs after surgery
So thinking put her in one of the DS bedrooms and she can use hall bathroom. Jerseyguy can use the DS bedroom with attached bath

I told DH he needed to make sure she couldn't find the key. He could at least sell it to the landscaper to recoup some of the money.

I got a notification that someone was approaching our front door. It was a man, no vehicle in sight. When he rang the doorbell, I used the doorbell camera to ask how could I help him. He said he lives around the corner, and he’s noticed Mister’s old Lincoln in the driveway when he goes for a walk and walks past our cove, and he wondered if we were interested in selling it. I told him it’s not my car, but if he wanted to give me his name and phone number, I would ask the owner and get back to him. He gave me his info and told me he likes old cars, and he use to work as a mechanic, and started rambling about 2 old cars he use to have. I called Mister and told him the man had rang the doorbell asking about buying his Lincoln, and what he said. At first he sounded kind of excited, saying that might be a *sign*, because he’d just talked to a Ford dealer this morning about finding the Mustang he wants. Then he mentioned something about his Dad, and did not sound so excited anymore. I told him he can think about it, just because someone is interested in buying it doesn’t mean he has to make a decision right now. I already know it will be difficult for him to let the car go, he has been sentimental about it from the time I met him, just because his Dad gave it to him years ago, when he needed a car. Even though he wasn’t driving it anymore when I met him, it still meant a lot to him that his Dad gave him the car, and at some point in his life, his Dad had become partial to Lincoln’s and that was all he drove. It is even more complicated now, the sentimental stuff about the car, since his Dad passed last September. I will not try to influence him one way or the other, because I want nothing to do with it if he regrets whatever choice he makes. The car rides like a dream, it feels like you are floating over the streets riding in it. It’s also a “good girl”, and has been a champ, even though it’s been neglected for many years. Even with the neglect, she does her best when he asks her too, which is how I know how it rides, because I’ve rode in it with him several times over the years. But the longer it sits up not being driven, the more issues it is developing, which is on Mister, and nothing to do with the fact that she’s a good girl. It is not as old as the old cars I’m drawn to, which are old muscle cars, vs what was luxury vehicles at the time of production, but I do feel like it would be nice to take her out for a cruise ever so often if he got her all fixed up, so I wouldn’t mind him keeping it, IF he got everything fixed and took care of it. But he is overwhelmed now with where to even start, and trying to find someone he can trust to do the work that needs to be done. But there is also the fact that we already have 5 vehicles, and he is getting ready to buy another one. That is kind of ridiculous. If the end of our driveway was not wide enough to accommodate 3 vehicles side by side, parking would’ve been an issue when we got the Tahoe. OD and my son always park in front of the Lincoln (it’s backed into the driveway), and that is the only spot left in the driveway where we can still get the other vehicles in and out of the driveway and garage without shuffling things around. Idk where he’s going to park a darn Mustang. He might be willing to move his Honda out of the garage, to the driveway, but even if the Mustang isn’t too long to fit in the garage, it will definitely be too wide for it and MY Honda to both fit in our garage. And I’m not moving my car to the driveway. She’s always lived in a garage, for almost 21 years now. Idc that she’s old, she’s been very good to me and she’s my baby and I am sentimental about her too lol. Anyway, I went off on a tangent, but I also wanted to say that it was weird having a whole conversation with someone through my doorbell camera.

He could have bought the car new for the number of engines he has put into it. I don’t go there, or I’d have stroked out by now.
