Not really funny considering that about half of the population lost its bodily autonomy. What does that say about independence? I do hope everyone has a wonderful day though. a No celebrating here either. A mass shooting at a 4th of July parade.

I'm pretty sure DS has Covid. He has all the symptoms, like cold sweats and chills, nausea and vomiting, alterations in taste and smell and fatigue. I haven't seen him since Friday morning, and won't see him until tomorrow, but I'm certain. Now I can't visit my sick BFF in the hospital, after her horrific car accident. Now she has pneumonia, and the last thing she needs is Covid.

It's hot AF outside! Last week when I was in Cleveland T2 said her brakes felt soft. I put all new brakes and rotors on it last year so they should be fine. I put it off since I got back and just had her drive my car. I went and drove it around and I think she just needs brake fluid. If that doesn't work I'll take it to the mechanic. They do feel soft but definitely work.

I need to get busy. The kids were fed some time ago. I can't imagine DIL worrying about little guy eating. I fixed him a ham and cheese sandwich for breakfast, that's what he wanted. It's Boarshead meat, that is the only brand I will buy for luncheon meats. He had 2 slices of cheese, 2 slices of ham, 2 slices of bread and all of it toasted, he ate it all with a 1/2 glass of apple juice. Then he ate 2 packages of those little fruit pieces. I know they try to get him to eat healthy, but he is a growing boy and needs to eat even stuff like this. While it probably isn't healthy for adults, that sounds pretty good for a kid who's growing- very protein-heavy. I listen to a podcast on medical subjects by Dr. Peter Attia and he marks his kids' height every 6 months. Growth is irregular, of course, but he noted that there are times when his youngest, age 5, seems to eat more than his 2 older siblings combined- and it always ends up being part of a growth spurt. When DS was little there were times when I didn't know how he got through the day with what little he ate, and days when he ate everything in sight. I figured he was following the clues of his own body- something most of us cannot do when faced with a slice of chocolate cake!- and I shouldn't argue with him. It also keeps food from becoming a battleground between kids and parents. He's 37 and in great shape so I guess it worked. That's so true. I think a lot of adult eating habits reflect attitudes instilled in us as children - clean up your plate, "healthy" food tastes bad, food as a bribe or reward, food as comfort. Those ideas can be hard to shake in adulthood. I push back against DH a lot because he likes to label foods as "good" or "bad", saying "I know I shouldn't eat that-it's bad" or "I need to eat this or that because it's good". It's part of human nature to be tempted by anything off limits, so designating some things as "bad" makes them pretty appealing. Foods are neither good nor bad - they have different nutritional profiles and places in our lives depending on our age and activity level. I prefer to think of foods as every day, frequently, occasionally, or special treat. For us, fresh fruit and fresh or frozen veggies are every day. Lean protein such as chicken breast or pork tenderloin is frequently, beef, fried foods, and cheeses occasionally. Desserts are special treat, usually on a special occasion like a birthday. This works for our metabolism while letting us enjoy every food in moderation.

a few things from me for now. I tried a few different ways to add the pool pic via mobile/Tapatalk and it's just not working. so you'll have to click the link for my Shutterfly album - link I found the 75' hose, but discovered I couldn't remove the smaller one from the sillcock out front b/c it had fused to the connection. fantastic, that prompted a call to mooch. he's going to come up this week (Thursday, if I can plan his week off haha, b/c then he can bring the pups back after he has them 2 nights for me to go in to Boston ) and replace both sillcocks for me. we'll also figure out the pool drain situation and what's going to make the most sense. when the new sillcocks are in, I'll just have to get in the habit of disconnecting the hoses unless I'm actively using them. I think this has something to do with the metals content in my well water. I spent the afternoon flat on my back on the bench out back, listening to Wimbledon being streamed on my laptop. so yay! the mesh network reaches back there, and I won't have trouble connecting the Fire Stick for the tv that will be going out there. also, the wooden bench didn't help my back much, so I moved us all inside and I curled up on my bed for a couple hours. that didn't do much either, so I gave up and went out to pick up some epsom salt. it's laced with spearmint and eucalyptus, both of which are calming scents for me. I'll take a bath after dusk when we have to go inside for booms. idk what the weather is like where y'all are tonight, but it's absolutely beautiful here right now. 77F and dry. I missed a bunch of the afternoon, I'm not missing this. I'll figure out the bath when I go inside. but I think I'm going to need to find a white noise app for my phone or laptop for LD. because I don't think sleeping on the couch or air mattress is a good idea for me to be able to move at all tomorrow. after my nap, I rolled onto my back and bent my knees. OMG, that was magical. so I think I'll be sleeping tonight with a couple pillows under my knees to keep me in that position.

Thanks all for the prayers and well wishes. He's in ICU. Keto acidosis related to his diabetes is likely the cause. They can't transport him to the bigger, better hospital until he's stable. My mom is in denial and my sister chewed her out on a group chat this morning.
I was looking forward to a quiet 4 day weekend. NOT HAPPENING. I'm going tomorrow to figure the plan out

He's never had a glass of wine or a cup of coffee, and he's 38. Hey, maybe he's a Mormon, Amish or Seventh Day Adventist, and I didn't know!

Well, I got 6.5 grocery bags full of stuff out, and a tall kitchen bag full of trash.
My fire place is almost clear.
I still have so much more to do. But, it's enough for now that we can store things in the closet.
I'm also a little ugh over work tomorrow.

Jelloshots4all, sending prayers for you Dad’s health.
I went to my DN’s for his Son’s 11th Birthday. Very nice get together. They started at 12 pm, by 3 it was raining. He had a big blow up waterslide. 3 car attached garage and a big screen gazebo, so adults moved for cover. Kids were wearing swimsuits, so they stayed outside & played.
My husband has been telling me for years that my BIL is a rednecked racist, which I pretty much agreed with, but one would think some of my relative think I have some control over US Immigration Policy. My niece is in Africa visiting her husband’s family. My sister asked my brother if his Son-in-law’s sister had gotten a visa approved to come to the US. DS kind of looked from me to my Brother and made a comment about it not being fair that People come across the Mexican border, and her husband the Lazy Redneck that hasn’t had a W-2 or 1099 job in over 10 years of any significance was railing about sending “them” all back to Mexico and charging them for who knows what. I was kind of speechless, and I just said to my sister, “Well, I guess if they want to take a chance like others and get in the back of a truck, I guess they can try.”. My brother didn’t like that very much, and I am a bit sorry, but there are always sideways looks and underhanded comments around them. I know for one recent holiday my husband told me my sister could come, but he did not want my BiL at our house. He is not well liked in the family, actually my DN that had the party is his step son and he did not want his step father at his Wedding 15 years ago.
DD is working, DS’s GF has a kidney stone and has been in s lot of pain this weekend. DS was at my MIL’s to eat and she sent some food with him for them.

My son and DIL have had a lot of really hot spicy food. He just doesn't want it. He will try most anything here. Grandpa just gave him some food I fixed for him and it was hot. Hubs is saying no way it's hot, well I ate some and was too hot for me. The kid isn't stupid, he knows what is. I think he got to the point at home not knowing what is hot or not to be safe he just asks for mac and cheese. I noted up there he ate a lot of that. And I don't cook Russian or Korean, just plain old American stuff.
Of course, I'm not saying anything to her, but his mom will give him a cookie or some item right before he eats then wonder why he isn't hungry. But again, I'm not going to interfere.
He will try most anything here and decide if he likes it or not. He decided polish sausage is good. And he and I have eaten almost 11 cucumbers between us, that is one of his favorites. They are small.
I'm going to fix fried green tomatoes and see what he thinks of those. I don't make him eat something if he doesn't like it, never did that to my kids either. They don't have eating issues, hubs is the problem child.
We went and saw the Jurassic movie, I was kinds of disappointed in it. It was just ok. I guess I thought it would be different, DD thought it was boring. Little guy must have not thought much of it as he squirmed around a lot.

Grandson is 7. I was getting money out of the ATM. He said grandma how do you have money if you don't have a job and don't work? I told him we saved for many, many years just like his dad is wanting to, so we have money now we are old. Also, SS, rent house income, and earnings off our money. That seemed to satisfy him.
So, he is thinking and that's good. One time he asked me how much money we had, I told him enough and he dropped it. LOL!

I went to top off my relaxing bath with more hot water, and got cold, brown water. at what point can I turn in a house as a lemon? does that work? is that a thing? when will I stop discovering new things about what the DIY flipper fucked up? mechanicals worked at home inspection, and I can fix the cosmetics. but for real, what else is left?? *I'll be showering at M's tomorrow when I drop the pups with mooch. he's going to come up and take a closer look at things when he brings them back in a couple days.

Love that little guy. He is trying to get us to let him stay up later then 10:30 but we don't want him to be grouchy and tired the next day. He just fusses a bit.
