We were going to visit my ILs this weekend. Instead, we stayed home because it snowing!! First time it's snowed in 2 years. DD1 really wants to play in the snow so we decided to stay home. We can't visit them next weekend as DD1 has a robotics competition, but we'll go up the weekend after that.

Know what I'm going to do? I'm going to make a you-tube channel with videos of kids helping parents do the mundane things: emptying the dishwasher, folding laundry, etc. And I'm going to make challenges like "Cleaning out the PJ drawer" or "How many bags of outgrown clothes can you take to the thrift store" I'm going to call my channel "Reality TV" I told the missy this, and she just yelled "noooooo" J/K. I'm not really going to. And if I were, that's what I would do. Can you talk normally and not scream everything at the top of your lungs? Those YouTube videos Abby watches overload my senses. I cannot stand the stupid hyper overlly chippy screamy voices. I'd rather listen to the Shamwow guy for 24 hours straight. That's how much I hate YouTube. I love Bluey though. The episode where they discussed Bingo saying yes even though her inside voice was saying no got me in the feels. Same Bingo Same. I like Bluey as well. It's just not possible for DH and I to play with the missy like that every minute of free time. And that's what I don't like. You don't really see Bluey's parents doing laundry, working, paying bills, cleaning house...I mean, yes, there are episodes about baking birthday cakes and picking up toys, but I'm not aware of routine episodes featuring the kids talking to the parents where the parents are scrubbing toilets...or the parents say "Look, kids, we'll play hotel, airplane, Lava, waterfights, whatever, as a break between getting chores done."

I had a lot of ambition today when I got up. But then it turned dark and gloomy with snow flurries. The pets got up and ate breakfast and promptly went back to bed. I think they have the right idea.

I had a very large crabcake leftover from dinner last night, so my breakfast was crab cake Benedict. I only ate half so the other half may be dinner. I usually only order it when on vacation at the beach. This was my first time making hollandaise sauce. I eyeballed it and added a little too much lemon but it was delicious. I never realized how easy it was to make.

I'm enjoying a breakfast sandwich and a cup of coffee now, catching up in here. I've been to Walmart and back, and cooked some breakfast sausage links for the pups before making my sandwich. today's going to be a lot of laundry and pup food prep. poll time - do I want to drag the snowblower out from the shed, in case all of the weather forecasters are wrong? every map I've seen has me in the 'mostly rain, til 1-3" of snow late tomorrow' portion of the map. but my parents are squarely in an 8-12" band, just an hour away.

If you get the snowblower ready you won't need it. That is how the universe works.

The snow is a bust here I think. A few flurries are coming down but it's not sticking. I need to get moving on the cooking and laundry. Gave our football tickets and parking pass to my nephew.
ETA: DH went and got FIL's snowblower running yesterday. So that's probably why we have little snow. FIL brings it to the garage each winter but it hadn't been started in years.

Snow is shocking here in the WV Panhandle. About 2 inches so far. A plow just came through, and DH just went outside to see what the truck sitting (and blocking) the top of driveway is doing. He's been blocking the driveway for over half an hour and there is room on both sides of the driveway to pull over. So not sure why he has blocked the driveway.
Turned out he works for the tree service that has been taking down trees for us this week and he is waiting on the boss to show up. They have one of those big lift tricks sitting in the yard, but I don't see them using that today.

We actually have snow, which is unusual here. The portion of the freeway crossing mountain pass about six miles north of us has been closed. The solid surfaces have about an inch built up. I can see the grass through the white layer on it. People who are used to snow would not be fazed by this. We don't have to go anywhere today, so it's nice to look at.

It doesn’t help that I’m looking at a $3000+ Bosch induction stove. I want induction, especially after getting a chance to play around with it while in the cruise. I need to do some more research on this. Is your cookware induction ready? Not all pans work on induction burners. Maybe a new set of pots and pans is in your future too! Most is, we might lose a few pans though, but not many.

alright, I've all but guaranteed myself to get no snow (knocks wood) because I pulled the snowblower out to the fence gate at the driveway and covered it with a tarp. I also completely cleared the backyard of poop piles so they don't get buried and surprise me later.

Snow is predicted for West and North of me. Currently 38° and light rain.
DGS was scheduled for 2 ice hockey games today in Va. He got hurt in last nights game and isn't going today. I think 6 of his team mates are sick. Games are at 2 pm and 7 pm. Two hours away. I'm glad he and my son aren't going.

Dark and rainy out at the moment -- glad I got the race in this morning and the Walmart trip was quick. I threw a pot of very good chicken noodle vegetable matzoh ball soup together in about 90 minutes. Really needed that today, and it produced leftovers!
Laundry is done. Time to relax and get the fluids in until dinner. Hoping the weather clears for a bike ride tomorrow.

Starting to snow here in north NJ. No snow last year guess not so lucky this year Plow guy will take care of driveway and walk tomorrow morning. Hoping not too much snd highways cleared by noon. Plan to go to cousin’s birthday tomorrow
Nice and warm inside, filled bird seed for third time today and ordered another 20 pounds. Right now glass of wine and lights on the little Christmas tree. Grandson will be here Monday and will do some work around the house. Another attempt at family Christmas on next sunday MLk weekend. Jerseyguy seems to be progressing nicely with PT. Maybe he’ll be home then? Looking forward to seeing our darling great grand baby for first time!! Called housekeeper and arranged for her return when Jerseyguy comes home. Maybe next week?? I’m still hoping to go for week to Maui with ODS and DIL. Told them to go even if I can’t. She’s had a really difficult health time for last 2 years and really starting to recover now. So thankful!

Eating breakfast this morning, we watched fat black squirrel while he ate at the suet. I don’t ever remember seeing a squirrel that was that much of a chonk, he’d probably give Sheldon a run for his money!

I love my Christmas decor but it's a bitch to take down.
DH cam break down the trees when he gets home I'm out.
Need to rent a dumpster this spring our basement is bad. I'll see if dad wants to go half in and we'll park it in our yard.

I decided to go all crazy spring cleaning this one room. I'm out of steam. Fresh coffee is brewing, and hopefully I can get a little more done.

I just took a 2.5 hour nap. Seriously. I physically feel fine. That is atypical. A half-hour, 45 minute nap on a Saturday afternoon is normal, but not this. Huh.

I've spent most of the last 2 days organizing my paperwork for tax time. Our accountant normally mails out a packet towards the end of the month for me to "fill in the blanks", then I always ask some questions on how the tax laws are changed from the previous year. Yes, this is early for me, but with everything that is already on the calendar for the new year, I thought I'd better do it when I've got the time.

I am sorry for everyone who had to change their travel and family gathering plans with the erratic weather - I hope the snow and ice melts quickly for all.

I'm waiting on our accountant's packet too so I can play 300 questions. I double checked and DH withheld $3K from his RMD last year, not $2K so that will help a lot.

I'm just sitting here alone. I'm under a heated blanket, listening to a video about positive thinking.
Feeling warm with a hot cup of coffee, breathing in and out, alive.
Sometimes anxiety comes out of nowhere, but I learned how to hold it and let it go.
After my coffee gets cold, (lol, I'm a very slow drinker) I will do the following or not:
I will finish up my laundry. Make a list of the most important accounts to update my credit card. Look at my accounts Figure out the timing to when I should activate my new credit card. Do 1 hour of work for my job. Clean my desk but only for 15 minutes Journal Try to speak with my brother if I can get the timing right as he's in a different time zone.

Normal routine here - cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping. I spent a ton of time yesterday on the book and will wrap up a whole section tomorrow. After that we'll head to our local Asian mega-mart for some groceries we can't source elsewhere like dried mushrooms and certain Chinese noodles. I'm sure some things that aren't on my list will somehow jump in the cart too.
