Justice scored huge victory today, Rip. More to come. Judge holds Trump in contempt for failing to comply with NY AG subpoenaA New York state judge on Monday found former President Trump in contempt of court for not turning over documents after he was ordered to comply with a subpoena from the New York attorney general’s office. New York Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron ordered Trump to pay $10,000 a day until he’s shown that he’s complied with the document demands. New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) applauded the ruling on Monday. “Today, justice prevailed,” James said in a statement. “For years, Donald Trump has tried to evade the law and stop our lawful investigation into him and his company’s financial dealings. Today’s ruling makes clear: No one is above the law.” Engoron had rejected Trump’s challenge to the subpoena for his records and testimony in February, ordering the former president to sit for a deposition and turn over any requested records in his control. Trump appealed the part of the ruling requiring him to be deposed, but didn’t challenge the order to turn over documents. Alina Habba, Trump’s attorney, said the former president will appeal Engoron’s contempt ruling. “We respectfully disagree with the court’s decision,” Habba said in a statement. “All documents responsive to the subpoena were produced to the attorney general months ago. The only issue raised by the attorney general at today’s hearing was with an affidavit submitted which copied the form mandated by the attorney general. This does not even come close to meeting the standard on a motion for contempt and, thus, we intend to appeal.” Rest of article here: Judge holds Trump in contempt for failing to comply with NY AG subpoena

As a free thinking Republican I disagree with continueing this. The pandemic is over, thus, this should be over too. It was to stop the spread of covid.
Unless democrats insist the pandemic is not over this should die.

Oh let him have his happy dance. This has been a bad week for Big Daddy Trump. He’s got 10,000 per day fines, his real estate guys are being forced to hand over the records of the true value of his properties, BFF Putin is in a terrible mess (and might have a terrible disease) all before delivering Trump Tower Moscow, his son in law somehow got a 2 billion investment from the Saudis that some people think is fishy, and 3000 text messages from Meadows got released this week, and some of them seem kind of - well, bad bordering on maybe unpatriotic. So little happy news for the GOP anymore, as they trudge along with this awkward albatross dragging them down. If only they realized they could that bird and move forward into a Trump free future.

Unless democrats insist the pandemic is not over this should die. I wouldn't say the pandemic is over, but the crisis stage is over. That's exactly the point - the crisis is reduced, therefore the rule should be lifted. Which is what the Biden administration was trying to do. It's a Republican judge that's trying to extend the pandemic restriction here. Which has me very confused. Unless, of course, there's some hidden (or not so hidden) agenda at work here.

Look at China. Continues to have a large outbreak in Shanghai. Virus could mutate all over again and we could be back to where we were last summer. Until the pandemic is controlled in other countries, no one can assume it is over. But since we are children, we are tired of this, so it is over because we say so. Flew to see my son this past weekend. Very few people wearing masks

The pandemic is not over. Just read about a NJ hospital changing their visitor policies because of current case levels. Tell it to Fauci. Did you read his statement. The acute pandemic part is likely over in the US. The US is only 5% of the world's population. We currently have a raging pandemic in the world's most populous country, in SK, and there appears to be a 5th wave starting in South Africa. Until we see if any of that causes an increase in cases in the US, and other countries do not have rising cases, and no new variant of concern arises, we cannot confidently say the pandemic is over. I realize Republicans have no concern for the rest of the world, and nuance is too difficult for you, but the worldwide pandemic is not yet over.

The Maine GOP, at their state convention, just changed their platform to promote "banning sex education". Of course they also want to ban "Critical Race Theory", and any mention of anything LGBTQ.
Sex Ed? That was around when I was a kid- and very, very benign. The GOP remains cray-cray.

Fauci is not omnicient, nor does he ALWAYS state his position the most clearly. but listening carefully to what he said, he believes that the US is not in a pandemic state AS OF NOW. if i remember correctly, he stated that this might change, and also it has no bearing on how the virus is behaving globally, which is still in full pandemic mode in many places.

I believe we are missing the thread premise here. Title 42 My position is if the pandemic is over via, Fauci's statement, title 42 should be dismissed. They are not enforcing itfor the most part anyway. Hell, they have let over a million migrants in with almost no vaccines and just make them wear a mask and we survived that.

do you have anything to back that up?
net migration to the US is about 900k. however, since 60% of it is through air travel, and basically 100% of air travel requires vaccination, that takes 540k off the table right away. in addition, vaccination rates in central america are running at about 62% (same as US). so, overlooking the fact that they are not increasing our numbers on a percentage basis, that ALSO eliminates another 60% of the 360k remaining, or 223k, which leaves 140k
now, admittedly, having 140k vaccine free people is worse than having zero- but given the fact that they are just as vaccinated as us, what is the risk/harm of it?

NOTE: for the record, Haitians have super low vaccination rates. if one could show that 99% of the NET migration was from Hatian Boat People, you could build a case on that.

I am referencing migrants at the southern border, not people coming in with a visa and already meeting Federal standards of vaccination requirements to fly here. Up until the last few months the migrants at the southern border were entering with no vaccination records. The feds never said otherwise. In fact they ONLY ASKED the migrants would you like to be vaccinated, so let's just admit the vaccination rate at the southern border was mediocre under the bes tpremise out there. Now we are seeing many people crossing the southern border from Africa which has poor vaccination rates, as well as from eastern Europe where people might have a better vaccination rate, but I am not sure about this, nor have any data to prove or disprove this.........you would think the federal government would have that wouldn't you?

If I am to believe the government if I do come down with the virus, I should have only a mild case. Should i believe them? If I do, it sounds like it is more like a cold for myself than covid. And yes, we catch colds from other people too. I am really not 100% sure, but that is all I have to go on so far, so it is what it is...... By the way, what is the unvaccinated number for democrats? No, I do not have a clue and not going to try to find it, because does it really matter. or is it only a Republican problem? Must be, because that is all you got in your response.
