and what was needed to go to the IRS in the last two weeks to cover the profits of stock and bonds, as well as dividends. Do not forget people with mutual fund payments outside of a qualified retirement account where you pay on the returns from the accounts every year at tax time....... Part of the reason the markets have sold off as much as they have is investors needed cash to pay their tax obligations by April 18th. Granted it is not the only major reason for the sell off, but it does create a need to liquidate some things to pay the taxman.
Give your best answer! In a day or two I will put the number that was estimated to be needed.

Our Federal government works on a deficit year after year, and yet, just from stock sales profits and dividends, etc, they rake in a considerable sum of money. I imagine some of it actually comes from billionaires. But this also hits most of middle America where these investors only have a small amount of income from all of this huge pie. Most Americans just cannot visualize the money the Federal and State governments take in. If they did, they have to ask what the heck are they spending this on?

Where the money is going is an easy question. 60% of the budget goes to the military, social security, Medicare, Medicaid, and debt service. You could cut the rest and not close the gap. Too bad republicans are so bad at math to not understand that
