I think those on the left are setting up dangerous precedents for when it is them who are protesting governmental actions. I wonder how similar arguments could have been made against elected officials speaking out against US involvement in Vietnam.

i think military protests are one step removed. protesting an arm of the government is different, in my view, from protesting the existence of government itself.

Mike Lee should come under scrutiny. During J6 he claimed what was happening was shocking and undemocratic, but now we have a stack of emails between him and Mark Meadows plotting how they could present slates of alternative voters in certain states and flip the election to Trump.
At least MTG didn’t hide her attempts to grab the presidency away from the duly elected winner. She’s been overtly seditious.

At least MTG didn’t hide her attempts to grab the presidency away from the duly elected winner. She’s been overtly seditious. READ: Mark Meadows' texts with Mike Lee and Chip RoyFrom Mike Lee to Mark Meadows
I don't purport to know who fits into which category. I know only that this will end badly for the president unless we have the Constitution on our side. And unless these states submit new slates of Trump electors pursuant to state law, we do not.
From Mike Lee to Mark Meadows
We should chat then. I'd love to be proven wrong about my concerns. But I really think this could all backfire badly unless we have legislatures submitting trump slates (based on a conclusion that this was the proper result under state law). Even setting aside constitutional concerns, this will be harmful to the president if we don't channel this effort properly. We simply have no authority to reject a state's certified electoral votes in the absence of a dueling slates, with the Trump slate coming from a state legislative determination. In each of these two messages, Lee makes clear that a different slate of Electors would be submitted based on state legislatures making a decision based on state law. This would have given Congress the opportunity to exercise their duty to arbitrate the dispute. With the current efforts underway to undermine state election processes in the future,, I can envision a situation in which I would like Congress to be able to consider an alternative slate based on officially certified results and not politically manipulated ones.

I think and in my view you are correct. And I assume with happyhoix's like that makes three of us. Whether it is a distinction that hold in the general population I am not sure. That is why I encourage caution.
