I did my taxes with HR Block. I haven't filed yet. I hear there is a free file sites thru the IRS website. I found I qualified. My question is this. Can I just take my HR Block files and have the free site file for me?

If it's like TurboTax free file used to be, probably not. You'll most likely have to re-enter everything. You can try logging in from the Freefile site and see if it links your other account.

I get five free federal returns with my tax program, but you only get one free state, so when I do my kids returns I file the federal for free then I go to the state website and enter the information to file for "free". I can't for the life of me get the filing to work from my home computer, so I put the federal return on a zip drive and enter the state return from work. I just did DS's. Basically I had to type in his W-2, enter is name and SS #, and complete the form for adjustments to the Schedule A itemized deductions, and attach the federal return and it filed. I also had to enter the routing number and account number where I wanted the refund to go to. Whatever you do, if you have a refund coming, you want to e-file it. I struggled so much last year trying to get DD's State return to file, I figured I should have paid the $20 and been done with it. There is something on the state website about doing something special if you Adobe version is 64 bit, it appears that is what my problem is. It has instructions to get around it, If I could get the damn form to open to begin with. I have a work around via my work, but if I did not, I would try a different free program or just pay the $20.
PS, I used the federal "Free File" website to find a free file program to use for a DN's return Sunday. I have the info entered, and was able to save it, but we did not file it yet, as he owes $$. I chose Turbo Tax, because that is the program I always use for our personal return and I am familiar with it.
You are right to seek out the Free File Version, once you use it this year, it will be easier next year.
Good Luck.
