I haven't had television service since 2010, but I must admit that before I cancelled it I never watched the news. I don't have Tic tok either, although I probably should get it. Our customers at work are asking for tic tok style training videos, which puts me at a bit of a disadvantage since I am not that familiar with them.

It’s always dangerous to think that the people who don’t do exactly what you do must all be doing something really terrible instead.
I read news from a lot of different sources. Im not the only one. Never been to tik tok

Given most of your political information is wrong, perhaps you could turn to broadcast news and NPR.

Remember, FOX considers itself to be "entertainment". Anyone who considers that to be a genuine source of news needs an education on what "news" actually consists of.

This is what it says on the website- About the Show Veteran political journalist Tucker Carlson hosts this nightly series that bears his name. Fox News describes the show as an 'hour of spirited debate and powerful reporting,' with Carlson taking on issues that viewers care about. He is joined by guests to help him discuss issues that don't seem to get much coverage in other parts of the media. Regular segments include Carlson calling out political correctness that goes too far and putting overblown social media outrage in its place, all done in what the network calls 'his signature style.'www.fox.com/tucker-carlson-tonight/I don't see anything powerful reporting on M&M candy dress codes let alone the politics of it. I was unaware any debate whatsoever existed on his show. He comes up with his daily slice of crazy and feeds it to the willing sheeple.

This has been discussed ad nauseam. There are reasons why FAUX NEWS is on top of the ratings. Older people watch cable news. Conservatives skew older. More-intelligent people get their news from multiple sources, while less-intelligent people get their news from a single source. That source generally tends to be cable news. Open-minded people get their news from multiple sources. Closed-minded people tend to get their news from one or a very few sources that confirm their pre-existing biases and beliefs. What we are left with is that older, dumber, and more "resistant" viewers watch FOX. I am not at all certain why you are so eager to demonstrate that that is your cohort, but hey, you do you. Also, FOX News "hosts" are not journalists, and their shows are not "news." To be fair though, only their own viewers think of them as such. The hosts know, and they are doing exactly what they are paid to do: Appeal to older, dumber viewers to drive ratings and influence opinion. Truth and integrity have no place in that. It is entirely about money, influence, and power, and they will trash anything and everything in pursuit of those ends. The few objective reporters they had have been leaving the network. FOX viewers have been shown to be the least-informed group, even less than those who do not get any news at all. They are also seemingly incapable of even understanding the argument or the reasoning that I have had to lay out here yet again, which is likely why they keep bringing up this nonsense over and over, ad nauseam. How nice it would be if they were smarter, but then they wouldn't be watching FOX in the first place.

It is always more popular to be told what you want to hear. Real News and education makes you uncomfortable. These viewers would rather wallow in their ignorance

Aristo manufactured slide rules until 1978. at time of closing, they had pretty much a monopoly on slide rules. cable news is not dead. cable news is, however, these things: 1) a failing business model. do i need to explain that? i hope not. 2) serving an ever shrinking demographic. 3) bad business. it consistently loses money. terrestrial radio has similar problems. i am really getting tired of the stupid counterarguments. YES, FOX HAS A GROWING MARKET SHARE OF A SHRINKING MARKET. i have actually said that as often as i have suggested that you STOP WATCHING CABLE NEWS, as it is uninformative. it is not really even NEWS, imo. pun intended.

How nice it would be if they were smarter, but then they wouldn't be watching FOX in the first place. most of them have very disparaging views of journalism. recently, one of the few journalists left FOX and is now on NBC. i did a survey of the news networks not long ago to check for journalism degrees. FOX has basically none in their top "news" reporters. CNN and NBC have well over half that are journalists. do they produce better product? not as much as would be expected. but they at least have training in integrity and honesty- the ETHICS that once drove journalism. i would argue that if FOX were not out there constantly POISONING cable news, the other networks might be better. but i don't even care any more. they are generally not worth watching, except for emergent information that is national in scope.

i don't really even know what tic toc is. for the record, most people i know who are serious about the news listen to NPR and read the paper. they know that cable news isn't even really news. it is infotainment- the dietary equivalent of soda pop.

TikTok is the home of short usually silly videos. The ones I watch are almost always done by adults about their pets.

From your link, just to point out the contrast-
Fox News averaged 1.5 million viewers from April 25-May 1 to finish No. 1 in all pf basic cable, while No. 2 TNT was significantly behind with an average viewership of only 732,000. Fox News also topped cable during the primetime hours of 8-11 p.m., averaging 2.3 million viewers compared to 2.2 million for TNT, which was carrying NBA playoff games.

TNT came in second ahead of CNN and MSNBC by a large amount. Democrats and liberals are no longer tuning in to these shitholes anymore. In fact some HAVE TURNED TO FOX CABLE. Many are watching "The Five" at five pm eastern. It is no longer a 98% Republican watched cable news/opinion station Did you read how many top 100 spots were Fox News?

My point is over 9 million is much larger than 2 or 3 million viewers. I know Fox cable is reporting that more viewers are self identifying as Independents and Dems, but I don't really believe that. I think it is marketing, not reality.

what are you talking about? as others have pointed out, she has been getting further and further away from cable news for years now. she was only on her "own show" one day a week. didn't really make sense to call it the RM show. i say good for her. cable news is to the media what herpes is to the good life.
