Texas court ruled parents who allow their kids to take gender affirming drugs are guilty of child abuse. Mandatory reporters like teachers and doctors are required to report parents allowing kids to be ‘trans’ for child abuse. There is a hot line you can call to have the parents ‘thoroughly investigated.’ www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-politics-and-policy/texas-governor-calls-citizens-report-parents-transgender-kids-abuse-rcna17455I saw another article where a family with an 8 year old trans boy invited one of the politicians pushing for this to their house for dinner so he could meet their son. About two weeks after the dinner, child social services turned up to investigate the family. The social worker found nothing wrong in the household, but was told she wasn’t allowed to close the case. The gender affirming drugs are things like hormone suppression drugs - they don’t have permanent effects and can be reversed when someone stops taking them. (I don’t think doctors will do gender affirming surgery until someone is no longer a minor). This is probably politically motivated, with elections coming up in March. Anti gay and anti trans is very popular in the GOP right now - look at De Santis’ new Don’t Say Gay law. So interesting how the GOP gets so worked up about their freedoms being violated when they have to wear a mask and yet have no problem refusing to let trans kids be trans, or letting kids with gay parents talk about their moms or dads.

kind of stupid in light of how Texas enforces parental rights on, say, corporal punishment.
