No, ectopic pregnancies are usually an emergency, so going somewhere else is usually not an option. Having to go to another hospital frequently leads to a poor outcome. Do, if this passes, the wife or daughter of someone important will have a bad outcome This bill is crazy. Like others have said, would only apply to the "little" people not the "important" people. They might as well just write a law giving permission for a woman with ectopic pregnancy to have a loaded shotgun to end her life. Some of these lawmakers are dumbshits.

And there is the next step down the road of A Handmaid's Tale. If a woman can not be a proper incubator might as well let her die. This is serious war on woman stuff. Any woman that votes for these assholes is deluded that she's "not like those women".😡

There seems to be a misconception. An ectopic pregnancy is a medical emergency. When the are found, a high risk of rupture is present. This can lead to life threatening hemorrhage. There is frequently not enough time to delay care to get someone out of state. It would only be a matter of time before someone of prominence experiences a bad outcome as a result of the condition. This isn’t like getting an elective abortion. I am not saying that the poor will not be disproportionately affected. What I am saying is that it will not only be the poor who will have a bad outcome. That is why this is different than an abortion ban. The effect will be felt across all constituencies

I wonder what these politicians would say/do if it were THEIR wife with an ectopic pregnancy. Take her to another state for treatment once they realize this is serious shit? My sister had one. She had a lot of pain, called her OBGYN multiple times, the nurse kept saying it was normal ( ) finally she had such intense pain while driving she had to pull over to the side of the road and get her DH to take her to the hospital. By that time it was very large. Surgery to remove it accidentally perforated her bladder, she had a second surgery to fix that, then got pneumonia. I think all the male politicians who think this is a fine idea should have a ballon inserted in their urethra and have it inflated to the size of a lemon and see if they think that feels sustainable for 9 months.

How about politicians stay the f*ck out of medical decisions? You don't have a medical degree, no say for you. As much as I don't like this tax happy state, at least there aren't morons putting forth laws like this. As much as I agree with you, we apparently elect and appoint morons with medical degrees to positions of authority. Physicians in Congress have been idiots(I am talking about you Rand Paul), and as Surgeon Generals(you Dr Lapado, who I still wonder if he graduated from medical school). They are far out of the mainstream, yet, because they have MD after their name, they are looked at as knowledgeable. A few years ago, an OB/GYN from Georgia, who was a chemistry major, called evolution garbage. Unless, of course, they're telling people to get vaccinated. Then they know nothing, and it's better to take ivermectin or drink your own pee.

But I am sure they will want to give everyone ivermectin! How about asking people who are experts in the field about the need for these procedures before showing people how dumb and cruel you are. A procedure for an ectopic pregnancy is as mush an abortion as a carrot is a baby. Just stop with this insanity. But....but....the doctors can just reimplant the ectopic mass. Easy, peasy!! A recently proposed anti-abortion bill in Ohio would require doctors to attempt to “reimplant an ectopic pregnancy into the woman’s uterus” or face criminal charges for murder, despite the fact that it is a medically “impossible” procedure.www.ctvnews.ca/health/ohio-abortion-bill-would-force-doctors-to-reimplant-ectopic-pregnancies-which-is-impossible-1.4708422Where do they find these idiots? Seriously...do they flip over a rock and find a republican?

This medical science comes to you from the same brain trust that brought you the ‘when women get raped their body won’t let them get pregnant so there is no such thing as needing an abortion due to a rape’ theory.

Time to bring back and modernize an underground railroad. Help the women and their families deal with medical issues facing these women. as states have moved to restrict rights, I'd bet serious money that there are some already. there are definitely ones that are geared toward getting abused women (and children, pets) out of the abusive environment and somewhere safe as a first step.

I concur, very good episode. but I'm aware of a few options like this in my area, IRL. I can't imagine it's only here.

Seriously did I end up in an alternate universe? Are people actually this dumb? I can decide which is worse they are actually dumb or are acting this dumb on purpose because they know the people voting for them are that dumb.

The people who vote for them are that dumb. The jury is out on the intelligence of the elected officials, but so far, the information we have does not support the belief that they are any smarter .
In the infamous words of PT Barnum- there is a sucker born every minute. We sure want to prove him right

In the infamous words of PT Barnum- there is a sucker born every minute. We sure want to prove him right My brief reading on the subject suggested that about 90% of the fetuses found in this type of pregnancy are already dead. So abortion is not even possible in most cases. I did not think its possible to get the fetus to reimplant, but I am not current on any of that. My guess is he was searching for a new angle to being anti-abortion, and came up with this.

It will be as useful, and slightly more fun for us bystanders.

They are also trying to figure out how to shut down sales of the morning after pill.
We need to tie restrictions on that pill to sales of Viagra. After all, wouldn’t there be fewer unwanted pregnancies if men’s penises (peni?) didn’t work?

After all, wouldn’t there be fewer unwanted pregnancies if men’s penises (peni?) didn’t work? The study demonstrated that ED is increasingly prevalent with age: approximately 40% of men are affected at age 40 and nearly 70% of men are affected at age 70. The prevalence of complete ED increased from 5% at age 40 to 15% at age 70. Age was the variable most strongly associated with ED. link My hypothesis is that there would be very minimal impact based on the prevalence of unwanted pregnancies involving older males.

I understand the frustration and the desire to link it to Biafra. Viagra has legitimate medical uses, and as bills has pointed out, little connection here. Sildenafil, the generic name for viagra, is used for pulmonary hypertension, a serious and potentially fatal condition. It needs to be available.
These bills need to stand on their own. Restricting medications does not and will not work, because they can be prescribed off label. Medications that are already approved rarely get other indications because companies don’t want to spend the money. These medications are approved for other indications. As we see with ivermectin, limiting prescribing is impossible
