And now he has lost a hosting position for a tournament event...

The star golfer has lost two sponsors and now the hosting role due to his comments regarding the proposed Saudi Arabian-backed golf league.

Phil Mickelson has lost various sponsors over his comments regarding the proposed Saudi Arabian golf league, and now he lost his hosting title at The American Express PGA Tour event in La Quinta, Cali., according to The Desert Sun.

Mickelson has hosted the tournament since 2020. Given that the tournament was held in January, the golf star will reportedly lose the hosting title for 2023. Additionally, his charity foundation, the Mickelson Foundation, has previously been a part of the tournament, but The American Express PGA Tour event has also parted ways with the foundation.

The debate of whether or not the proposed Saudi Arabian-backed golf league is a good idea or not has taken the golf world by storm, with Mickelson at the forefront. Mickelson is just one of very few golfers who have supported the idea.

The 51-year-old has specifically received backlash for his stance because of comments that were released from Alan Shipnuck’s upcoming book.

Mickelson apologized for his comments, but he still lost a couple of his sponsorships, such as KPMG and Workday. Callaway golf didn’t end their partnership with Mickelson, but their sponsorship is currently paused.

I always liked Phil, (he bought property nearby, so he is going to be a neighbor), until he stepped into this big steaming pile of a stinky sand trap.

On the one hand, I don't think it is in the best interest of the PGA to dictate how and when and where the pros play. I think a little competition is good for the sport. It is working in swimming, with the introduction of the ISL meets to compete with FINA.

However, the Saudi Arabians are a whole shitload of bad idea. Murderous, devious, and ruthless, even amongst their own inbred family units, stopping at nothing to promote their ideas and institutions, including the subjugation of women, thanks to a liberal application of more money than God and all the saints put together. No dollar amount can fix the damage this gang has done. Talk about a monster's ball (game).

Never cared for Greg Norman once he cheated on his wife and dumped her for Chris Evert. His ex got the last financial laugh on him to the tune of $103 million, AND watched the marriage to Evert implode. He's been a snake on the take ever since, involved in whatever makes him money.

i just read an article on Charles Schwab.  he is a big Trump supporter.  it really makes me want to all of my accounts there.  he is a total asshole as far as i can tell.  he just keeps it fairly quiet.

The company’s PAC will no longer take contributions from employees or make financial contributions to lawmakers. It will donate the leftover funds to Boys & Girls Clubs of America and to historically Black colleges and universities, organizations that Schwab has supported in the past.

i should note that Chuck might still be donating PERSONALLY to these assholes, but the company won't.
so although Chuck might still be an asshole, his company is no longer supporting assholes.
