Impressive but curious as to where this was. The greens look especially manicured, short, and uniform in the video.

XH was a golfer and I've watched lots of golf on TV, including last year. What I was trying to allude to, is it visually looked like perfect conditions. Grass not wet or too dry. No obvious wind. No obvious breaks and paths. Pebble Beach for example is always challenging because of its location by the water, etc.

These guys are good, don't get me wrong. They are the best in the world at what they do. But that is just pure, unmitigated, dumb-ass luck. Especially on the last hole to win!

Having sunk a 101’ putt once for birdie, I will politely disagree. I believe it’s a 50/50 proposition. There are certain elements you factor in. In my case the length alone was daunting. Longest putt I ever had so I knew I would need to be very firm. Then it was downhill with a vicious 15’ break left. I read all of those factors and gave it a stroke. Damn if it didn’t go in, shock my buddies, and win 5 skins. A huge element of luck but also plenty of skill.

And much of it depends on conditions, how often one has played the course etc. And as dondub knows, speed is key in putts especially significantly downhill or uphill.

If some skill & knowledge aren't involved...the game would be much simpler. Yes, there is some luck involved, but there is also other factors.
