Went to the eye doctor this morning who suggested cataract surgery sometime soon. And with insurance, today's visit cost $98 in copays and lens scratch protection. Not the way I envisioned the new year.....

If your doctor suggested cataract surgery, you will thank yourself for having it done later. You will see things so much sharper. It happens so gradually that you don't notice it but you do notice what all you were missing when you can see it again.
Dad kept telling mom that she wasn't cleaning the house properly. She was doing it the way she always had and she kept a spotless house. After his cataract surgery, he apologized to her.

And, I agree, I'd rather have it done now though there is a possibility of having the cataracts coming back, for which the doctor had a fancy word. I look forward to not having near-sightedness for the first time since teenagerhood and hopefully the headaches subside.

I think that possibility is low. My surgeries were over 20 years ago. One got something on it that was in my eye and I had to have a laser procedure. They froze the eye but it was hard to look at lasers being shot at your eye for what seemed like forever.
Then I had psychedelic streaks in that eye for about a week. During tax season. That was fun until they went away.
As with everything, I'm sure the science and composition of the lens that is used has changed since mine were done.
You will do great!

Iggy aka IG -- Re:eyes -- I am almost there with you. The doctor is watching mine and as of last visit they are not "ripe" yet. For me it is just a matter of time until I get the same results and suggestions as you received. I am having more difficulty so I won't be suprised when the time comes. End of December Recap: 15 No Spend days Spent a lot this month as the balance for the cruise was due and I also paid for the plane tickets as well. Thank goodness for sinking funds. Still have to decide and pay on excursions, hotel in final destination and put some money aside for spending. Haven't traveled since 2019 so on the average it isn't too bad as I try to rationalize the amount all at once. At least the worst of the bleeding for the trip is over. January has the home insurance, final payment on the shutters, and some extra yard maintence as well as the usual living expenses. Not planning on spending on unneeded items as much as possible. Happy New Year to all of you. Will someone start the 2023 thread as I am not sure how to do one. Thanks!

Despite December being a spendy month I ended with 16/31 NSD/CSD days.
I look forward to the 2023 thread if someone is willing to start it up.
Happy New Year everyone!!
