Our state will not be providing the next set of numbers until January 7. I guess there is no Covid over the holidays.

Oh, you know what I learned: How to cut DH's hair! I'm getting pretty good at it. He really hasn't been back to the barber since February 2020.

I learned just who I can and can’t count on . I learned that there were some people in my life who I just had to cut out . TOXIC I learned just how selfish , hateful people really are . On a good note , I finally just said , NOPE , and life is too short to put up with so called friends and family that really don’t give a shit about anything except themselves . Amen! I have learned this lesson as well. Sharing DNA with me does not make you entitled to anything.

I learned I have no friends, with the exception of this gang. My husband drops dead and all I got were crickets. Makes me feel real warm and fuzzy about myself and how people felt about us. I.I'm sorry about that. Half of my family has been this way too. Luckily there's the other half. We accept newbies of all kinds if you want in.

You may be underestimating how much your friends are avoiding you because 1.) in a respiratory pandemic giving people physical distance is the new polite and 2.) many people have lost touch with people and then discovered that they've gone totally Q.
ETA I'll leave that up because deleting it would be rude. But I will use more words to explain it. Basically, this is a terrible time to make new friends or re-connect with old ones. 1.) II you haven't been in touch with people for a while, you have no idea what pandemic precautions they are observing or expect you to observe. 2.) A lot of people have gone down the rabbit hole in the last few years and developed some extremely distasteful thoughts and beliefs. Prior personality and political beliefs are a lousy predictor of who has lost their mind. Discovering that a person that you once thought reasonable has completely changed is really disturbing. This is a big factor in why people are not reaching out to people that they have not been in contact with for a while.
A text or a phone call are perfectly COVID safe.

There is a reason I pay someone to do my hair. My hair color was every shade from carrot to chocolate cherry to near black over the pandemic. And I almost always missed a chunk of grey too.
I just want the grey covered and a nice nondescript auburn color, but apparently only my hairdresser can deliver that.

You know, in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, I could never figure out how everyone just ignored the fact that people they knew were randomly getting infected and becoming zombies. It was just sort of inserted into the normal P&P story, and everyone simply ignored the terrible tragedy around them, going on like normal to social events and such. Why was it accepted? How does this even get to the point it's just inevitable and life rolls on? Felt totally unreal.
Twenty-plus % positivity and climbing rapidly, 845k deaths, but no more thought of lockdowns or even schools going remote - now I think I see.
Suddenly that fantasy book doesn't seem so outrageous anymore.

Well you have to remember, at that time, people in their prime dropped dead from all kinds of infectious diseases that are completely preventable or treatable today. Zombie apocalypse wouldn’t be nearly as scary in a world that still has smallpox, polio, and people dying from ordinary sinus infections.

I’ve learned that we’re at the point where anything and everything is going to be politicized.
My definition of what constitutes acceptable emergency supplies has changed. It now includes a lot more soap, medication, paper products, and a different mixture of foods.
